I do not recommend this dealership. I bought a ford off them and they said they could give me 5.24 percent financing, Then when sighning papers its 5.78. They offered me no payment for 3 months. Then when sighning papers they said my first payment would be a killer if i went no payment for 3 months. Also the payment got higher when signing papers. This ford i bought was from out of province so they said they have to do a real good inspection for it to pass. The first day i brought it home i went to pick a friend up and he comes out of his house to see bare wires hanging out the bottom of my new truck. The main wiring harness was bare for about a foot with about 50 wires hanging down. How could they miss this?????? And to top it off at sighning i mentioned warrenty, and they just blew it off, almost like they didnt want to warrenty it. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM THEM AGAIN. THEY PUSHED ME INTO IT. I HOPE ITS A GOOD TRUCK. More

Non Disclosure of Material Damage. ******UPDATE: Since being in touch with the owner Bob Aaltonen, Bob has done everything in his power to remedy the situation caused by his Sales Manag ******UPDATE: Since being in touch with the owner Bob Aaltonen, Bob has done everything in his power to remedy the situation caused by his Sales Manager Mazen Orabi. Ian Knell has proven to be honest in his dealings as a salesperson and been of assistance in making sure that the truth about the sale of my vehicle was known. Bob and Ben have been respectful and helpful in the resolution of this situation. They have not made excuses for their employee’s behaviour and have offered me acceptable and reasonable solutions. Southland will be paying for the undisclosed damage to my car at no cost to me. Thank you Bob for being a diligent business owner and rectifying this situation. Thank you also to Ben, Ian, Lorne w, and Lorne E for all of your assistance with this vehicle. I believe Sales Manager Mazen Orabi’s dishonesty and abhorrent customer service is unacceptable, I will put faith that those who supervise him will take corrective measures in regard to not only how he chooses to do business but how he chooses to treat others. I am editing my five star review from my previous purchase to a one star review. One star is even too much for this business and its business practices. I initially test drove a 2016 Passat but it was a little too pricey than my available credit. Lorne stated that there was a car that worked for me. I test drove a 2015 Passat and had some concerns. Mainly with the loose steering and interior cigarette smell. Lorne assured me that as a certified pre owned all issues would be fixed. As this is my second car with this dealership I trusted this to be true. Initially when picking up my car all seemed to be fixed. Hours later I noticed hail and body damage that was not visible in the previous lighting. I fully acknowledge that I should have taken a closer look at the point of purchase. But as the sales person is a friend and this is my second dealing with that dealership there was some trust there. Trust that was abused. Lesson learned. I reported the damage immediately. After the long weekend I spoke to Mazen about the issue. Who offered to trade it in and switch financing which I worried would affect my credit. I was then told that I clearly knew the car was damaged as I attended the hail sale. The problem being I never attended the hail sale nor was hail disclosed once in discussing this car. He then insisted I got a discount, a discount that was certainly not discussed with me or applied to my Bill of Sale. Mazen said I could call AMVIC but they wouldn't help me. As I was not satisfied with this I wrote a complaint to AMVIC who stated to me that undisclosed hail damage breaches the fair trading act. I spoke to my salesperson who spoke to the owner. The car was taken in to get fixed. The body shop was timely and did the best they could. However the car is still damaged. A car that I paid full price for. I updated AMVIC with the remedies put in place. According to AMVIC Southland insists that I knew the car was damaged as I bought it from the hail sale. This is beyond infuriating as I did not once go to their hail sale nor would I have opted for a hail damaged car as you can not get hail insurance on them. Who would opt to pay full price for a car with body damage that will be ineligible for full insurance? Certainly not me. Bottom line: Due to Southland's dishonest business practices I now have a damaged car that I can't get hail insurance on. And even though they sent it for repairs it is still damaged. I've paid full price for something with a worthless resale value. And yes legally this damage should have been disclosed on the Bill of Sale and at the point of purchase. Instead I had to discover it under the right lighting. And not only was this damage present but there was also damage to the bumper. All on a car with 19k on it. Things I've learned: Never trust a dealership even if you have utilized them before. Never buy a car on a cloudy day or in lighting that masks damage. Certified Pre Owned is a gimmick to sell used cars. Take any car you want to buy to a private mechanic to inspect. All things I previously practiced but once again I trusted my salesperson and the dealership. Trust that was abused. I do not think Lorne or Ian had anything to do with this dishonesty. I don't believe that Lorne knew this car had this much damage. Ian has done everything in his power to make this right. However Mazen insisting I was given a discount I was never given and that I bought the car from a hail sale I never attended is outlandish. To insist that this damage was disclosed to me is a blatant lie. Even my Bill of Sale shows I paid full market value with no hail damage mentioned. To be treated this way by a dealership who we have now bought two cars from and planned to buy a third is disgusting to say the least. There are clearly very dishonest practices at this dealership. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone for any reason. At this point if my issue isn't remedied I will be retaining a consumer lawyer. Second review written on August 19th 2016. More

Rob was wonderful to work with and went over and above to deliver my new vehicle to me at work. Joel the finance guy was also very personable and made the experience fun. All in all I was very pleased with my experience and love my new 2016 Jetta ?? More
Terrible experience. Won't buy another VW We were given a price and monthly payment and agreed on the monthly payment. Went between 72 and 84 monthly and bi-weekly payments and then at signin We were given a price and monthly payment and agreed on the monthly payment. Went between 72 and 84 monthly and bi-weekly payments and then at signing all of a sudden the price had increased from the original price. The other problem was after signing we had trouble getting the salesman, Taylor, to return our calls when we had trouble with the VIN # and couldn't get insurance. Also couldn't get a call back about approval of credit so we could organize the office visit. We had a 120 mile drive to sign. When we complained about the price increase the manager simply said we could come back on Tuesday (this was a Saturday) to discuss it with another manager which would mean driving another 120 miles. We did buy the car at the increased amount but will never buy another VW or deal at Southland Medicine Hat again. This was the worst buying experience and will make sure to advise others of the problems we had with VW and the dealership. More

I called in a week in advance for an oil change, I arrived on time and asked how long. They told me it will be about an hour. Nearly 2.5 hours later they had completed my car. The people working th arrived on time and asked how long. They told me it will be about an hour. Nearly 2.5 hours later they had completed my car. The people working there clearly enjoy their jobs and I did see a fine example of excellent customer service (the guy behind the service desk offered a lady to come in early one day to drive her into work while her vehicle was getting maintenance, which is cool in my opinion). But keeping someone waiting for nearly two and a half hours for something as routine as an oil change is not cool! More

I purchased the car over the phone and they delivered it to my doorstep in Chestermere, a 3 hour drive from the Hat. Try getting that service from a domestic dealer, they would laugh you off the lot. The sales staff was friendly and the finance manager was a pleasure to deal with. I would highly recommend Southland and will use them again. More
