I found a couple of Dodge Ram 1500 pickup trucks that Lockwood had on their used car lot(November 2012) from autotrader.ca. Didnt call but decided to visit the dealership instead as a walk in customer because I had some available time one late evening. I met Richard Kovacs and first impressions were very good. He was respectful, pleasant and friendly. We took the truck for a test drive and although I liked the vehicle, he did not pressure me into purchasing it because I insisted that my wife had to like the truck and that she would be capable and comfortable in driving it. I called and emailed him the next day and made an appointment to see the truck again with my wife. Even though he had some prior appointments, he rescheduled his appointments in order to meet with the both of us. When we arrived, he had the truck ready for our test drive and spent a lot of time explaining the features of the truck to my wife. What I was impressed of was the knowledge that he had for the Dodge Ram of its capabilities and even some of it shortfalls but added that if those shortfalls were important features that we wanted, then we were looking at the wrong vehicle. When we came back to the dealership to negotiate on price, I asked him to explain his dealership's price compared to an exact same truck listed on autotrader.ca. This is where he helped me the most and added the most value. As Richard is the Online Manager at Lockwood, he was able to demonstrate at that moment the pitfalls of online fraud. As an IT professional, I'm cognizant of this but was extremely impressed that Richard had the knowledge to protect his customers from sale ads such as these in the automotive industry. From that moment on, he was able to gain my trust and we agreed on a price that was good for both parties. He checked off all my criteria to finally purchase the truck. He fulfilled that it was the right vehicle for us, explained all the features of the truck, accommodated my wife's comfort level with the truck, proper pricing of the truck and protection, price itself and after-sales maintenance program with 3yr/60K free oil change. He then introduced us to Ibby who finalized our purchase and he was also great to deal with. I would not hesitate to refer my family, friends and colleagues to Richard for any car purchases that they may need. It was a pleasure to work with him and will be a repeat customer in the future. I wanted several rare colours; however, Richard made sure that he could find me the best colour choice and price that would suit my needs! After purchasing the vehicle, what I think to be just as important is for the client to not feel in the dark. Richard continued to respond to my inquiries (simple or difficult) in a timely manner. With all of the clients that he has encountered so far, it is heartwarming to know that he still remembers my NAME! I noticed an online price on a car and e-mailed Lockwood. Richard Kovacs promptly e-mailed me that day and I phoned him to see if the car was still available. I told him I was looking at the 2012 advertised vehicle which he promptly printed out it's vehicle history which showed an accident history. I mentioned I was also interested in 2012 models and wanted silver in colour. I told him a dealer in Waterloo had a silver 2012. When I got home that evening Richard phoned me back within an hour and told me I could have a 2013 in silver for the same price as a 2012 because they did not have many 2012 left in stock. The next day, I told the dealer in Waterloo and he insulted me and I could not get out of there fast enough. I immediately drove to Lockwood and asked Richard to show me the 2013 silver Journey and he had it waiting. We agreed on the price which was the lowest going price for a 2012 and I was not pressured for any extras and he included free oil changes. Our deal was done in about 15 minutes and I felt as a woman I was treated with a brain, totally respected with my decision, by Richard and he seemed honest and responded to my questions with sincerity. I picked up my car in 2 days and happened to meet the owner of Lockwood and told him that he has a sincere, honest, accommodating and customer oriented young salesman in Richard. He really is a pleasure to work with because of his genuine energetic natural openness of his personality. He embodies a good work ethic and makes a customer feel like they are dealing with a professional who knows his business. I taught Sales and Marketing for 40 years and he is definitely and A++ in attitude and ability. More
