Terrible customer service. Sold me a vehicle with a lien still attached to it and did not disclose that. Now won't help me with figuring out how to have it removed... We bought our almost new Prius at Openroad Toyota. I would say below average in terms of customer service throughout our purchase process. Although individual employees seemed somewhat cordial, overal I would say below average in terms of customer service throughout our purchase process. Although individual employees seemed somewhat cordial, overall the mostly asian staff seemed impatient and short with us, as if they were unhappy with their jobs and gave the impression they were doing us a huge favour by attending to us. Cultural differences aside, it was clear they just wanted to get us out the door as quickly and cheaply as possible. Our initial salesman was so openly rude with us that we asked the supervisor for another salesman. Subsequent salesmen were a little better. They cheaped out on cosmetic body issues and we were very unhappy that they refused to address a loose body panel on the car. The finance lady was not only unfriendly but also inflexible, considering her schedule first and those of her customers last. The insurance department needs a lot of improvement, as the wait time for service was completely unacceptable. Overall, I find it very difficult to believe the positive reviews of this dealership and are most probably biased. You've been warned. More
Would give 0 if I could. I am not a prolific reviewer, but I feel compelled by certain experiences to share my feedback. I have been an owner of a 4Runner and corolla since 2004. In late 2021, my wife decided to upgrade her existing corolla and after extensive research she landed on a Hybrid RAV4. I think it is fair to say that given the easy access and availability of information on line, most people do their research and know what they want even before they show up at a dealership. What they need is someone to fil in the gaps, answer a few questions, and help with the sales/purchase process. We don’t need someone to read the ”specifications” from the online website in the office. We were advised by the Sales Rep (Macke) that our wait time at Open Road is 4-6 months because they are the biggest dealership in BC with the largest volumes so they get more vehicles than other dealerships. I was up front and honest with Macke that we were paying cash for the car and we would also like to trade in our corolla if possible (if not I could sell it privately). Every couple of months I would follow up with Macke for an update and with each passing enquiry his response time became slower and attitude more distant. On Dec 14 after a few attempts to connect with him by phone and text for an update I was advised that although he did not have an exact ETA on delivery, “management had advised the team at his location that Toyota will deliver more hybrid models in 2023 and inventory should be better”. Jan 24, 2023 I enquired again and after 4 days on Jan 28 Macke advised me “2023 allocation would not be any better and most likely they would not deliver this year”. I have now approached other Toyota dealerships in the lower mainland to enquire further. In all instances the rep snickered and advised me that Richmond Toyota prioritizes their clients and their purchases. If you are purchasing cash you basically have 0 chance. If you like to trade in they will only consider you if your trade in is something they can turn around and sell at a big margin, otherwise you have 0 chance. Richmond Toyota is only interested if you are leasing or financing. Furthermore I was advised that these other dealerships successfully delivered orders they took in late April 2022 (4-5months after my order!!) at the beginning of Jan 2023. This was very openly, unapologetically and callously confirmed to be true by the Richmond Toyota Sales Manager, Mr. Hosseini. I do not wish to discuss the merits or ethics of this policy, but I do question this dealership’s integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, and basic customer service. Had my sales Rep (Macke) advised me on Jan 12, 2022 that my purchase would be prioritized differently or not even prioritized, then I could have made an informed decision at the time. This dealership does not understand the very basics of client service: genuine, honest advice. The deposit amount is of no consequence, but they were happy to take my money and then string me along for 12 months….12 months where they knew I was not going to get a car from them. Yet they have the nerve to openly ask clients to rate them a 9 or 10 out of 10 if they are surveyed. Corporate Toyota and management at this location should truly review their operating model from the client experience perspective - which is atrocious at this location. Perhaps I should have read some of the previous comments on this and other sites where clients have had similar issues. Open Road may be the largest and most profitable dealership, but stinks when it comes to their service and integrity. More
