Impossible to align a Touareg? After 2 months and 3 visits to VW Oakville for what they initially assumed it was a suspension alignment, my 2012 Touareg is still drifting to the rig After 2 months and 3 visits to VW Oakville for what they initially assumed it was a suspension alignment, my 2012 Touareg is still drifting to the right. I can accept that some issues might be more difficult to detect or to repair, that is why I gave them a 4th chance. What I actually don't understand is the fact that, on each alignment report they wrote that the tech drove the car before, noticed the drifting, then he performed the alignment, drove the car again and "drifting not noticed anymore". I pick up the car, return immediately and ask for the tech to join me for a drive, he notices the drifting without comments. We return to dealership, he speaks to Service Manager, I receive the report that mentions "customer still unsatisfied". Not a word about their own tech who actually DID notice the pulling, in my presence. And all this repeated 3 times. Last time the Service Manager was almost impolite, to say the least. Nervously, she explained that not only once but 3 times they did this and that, that she had her best people spending many-many hours on my car, conference-called the specialist for North-America, everything is by the book and I'm still not pleased. She argued that I have 18" rims instead of 20" that the car was equipped with from the factory. They even swapped 20" wheels form their demo, with no improvement. The only thing tech could say was "It feels different with 20", better...". It might feel different for him, as a specialist. For me as regular driver it felt like it was going into the same ditch, in less than 100 ft. unless I continuously counter-pull the steering wheel. This is really annoying when you have to drive in a straight line, especially long distances at highway speed. I suggested inspecting the power steering and rack but they won't do anything else. Service Manager calmed down in the end and said she is going to email the South-Ontario VW specialist and will book me in for one last visit. 20 days have passed and no sign from them, nobody is returning my emails. They must have a problem with the email server, because same thing happened last summer when I was shopping for the car: nobody ever returned any of my calls or emails, even though I had the $50.000 cheque ready in my pocket. My previous VW had a rust claim opened at VW Oakville. The same Service Manager was telling me stories every time, that the file is pending for approval, in Germany, that they are overwhelmed, etc. 18 months later I sold the car while I could, as I didn't want to deal with rust or with the painting process. Based on this, I rate them below average for customer service in both Service and Sales department. Parts desk though was extremely helpful every time. I can only recommend this service center for basic maintenance. They did well for oil changes so far, in my experience, even though when I booked the appointment online, they quoted me a price that proved to actually be double in reality. The explanation was "maybe the girl who gave you the quote thought you had a Jetta". More
