They explained that the spark plugs were due at 96K based on guidance from Ford, as the Calgary climate is considered under 'extreme' operating conditions. They looked into the coolant and transmission work, and agreed that those scopes were not necessary. Northstar refunded the cost of that work. Northstar also apologized for not diagnosing the oil leak when they first had the vehicle, and they are going to work with us to have it addressed. Although the initial service was not good, Northstar quickly worked to address the situation. I think they were fair and reasonable in their approach. We will continue to use Northstar for service. ______________________________________________________________________ Original post: My wife took our 2012 Ford Focus in for an oil change, and to have the brakes checked because they were squeaky. She asked for a service package that is most applicable to our vehicle and mileage (119K km). The service advisor suggested the "recommended" package for 100K km, which seemed reasonable. She trusted the service advisor for good advice, and unfortunately did not check the car manual for recommend service and timing. When we picked up the car the bill was over $800, and the brakes were fine. The "recommended" package included spark plug replacement at $200 (manual says 160K km), coolant flush at $200 (manual says 160K km), and a transmission flush at $250 (manual says at 240K km). Clearly what Northstar 'recommends" is not in line with what Ford recommends, even though Ford spent millions of dollars designing and engineering the vehicle. To top it off, the service technician noted a "heavy oil leak present from engine", however they didn't even try do diagnose it. We now have to book another appointment to have the leak checked, even though the car was already in the shop and on a lift. More

I Now Understand What "No-Pressure" Means! I have recently purchased a 2018 Ford Escape SEL from Northstar Ford, this dealership is over 80km away from my house. I went there at first based on their reputation, North Star did not have any additional deals compared to any other dealership but I stayed because of the sales team. There was absolutely no pressure from them to buy but they were very willing to spend the time with me to look at vehicles within my budget or get a vehicle down to be within my budget and continued to work with me and answer questions even though I hadn't committed to purchasing a vehicle with them yet. Due to the holidays, I started working with Kevin Rozon briefly and then spent the majority of my sales experience working with Dion Legroulx (this site has the last name spelt wrong). Dion's patience, ability to empathize with my family and financial situation, no pressure communications and the hard work he did to still get me into the vehicle I wanted deserve a medal - thanks Dion!! More

Problem not addressed thoroughly. The service call for my recently purchased Ford Fusion was that the car was giving a gas mileage of 14l/100km which is excessive. Tests done in response to my problem, according to Northstar was that there was no problem. I do not buy this explanation. According to my information which was expressed to Casandra, the car originated in Victoria, BC, in elevation of a little over sea level. In Calgary which is about 3500 feet in elevation, it would be running rich, especially a lower rpms. However no pert of the explanation given to me addressed this issue. I even suggested at the time of the drop-off that this may a part of the problem for the high fuel consumption. Again no response. This problem needs to be resolved satisfactorily. My previous vehicle, a new Ford Escape, also bought at the dealership did not show the poor mileage, as a matter of fact its mileage from day one never exceeded 11.4l/100km. I expect to see mileage better the 11.4l/100km and certainly much better than 14l/100km. More
