I went to buy out my lease on Saturday and as usual when I have to visit this dealer, the experience was a disaster. The '90 minute max' appt to do the paperwork and safety check was pushed because they on I have to visit this dealer, the experience was a disaster. The '90 minute max' appt to do the paperwork and safety check was pushed because they only had one mechanic, and anyway, the service dept told me it was never going to be 90 minutes, it always takes way longer. The business office guy, Mike, was very offhand when I arrived and later, the ICBC rep complained that he hadn't completed the paperwork he was legally obliged to fill out, and that she shouldn't have to babysit the dealers like this. Then the shuttle driver didn't show up to pick us up and take us back to the dealership as arranged. The 90 minutes I was promised on the phone turned into 4 and a half hours, and I got stuck with a $20 taxi bill as well as a ruined Saturday. The taxi driver and I swapped horror stories as he had dealt with them in the past. Given the $25000+ I've spent at this dealership over the past four years, you'd think someone might say "thank you", but this didn't happen, even when I handed over my cheque for $9000 to pay off the car. On several occasions tho, over the past few months, both Mike and another guy (Aaron?) told me they wouldn't or couldn't do things (like show me a Prius instead of the Corolla they were desperate to push, or take a personal cheque or credit card) because they "wouldn't make any money" out of it. Upshot - nothing wrong with my Toyota car, but the Nanaimo Toyota dealership is toxic. There are of course a few nice, polite, helpful people on staff, but they can't make up for the overall awfulness of this outfit. I am very very very sorry I made the mistake of leasing a car from them in the first place, and the only happy ending here is that I never have to go back there again. More
