We recently had two service visits at Midway Nissan for our 2017 Nissan Rogue, and unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed and unsure whether we can continue trusting this dealership for service. We our 2017 Nissan Rogue, and unfortunately, we left feeling disappointed and unsure whether we can continue trusting this dealership for service. We have been bringing our vehicle to Midway Nissan since we bought it, so this is especially disappointing. Over time, it has started to feel like every visit leads to more recommended work and a much larger bill than expected. Because of that, we now feel uncomfortable and unsure whether we are receiving fair value and clear guidance each time we come in. On May 22, 2026, we brought the vehicle in for a tire swap, but the final bill ended up being $1,705.98 after several additional services were added, including brake service, brake fluid flush, fuel induction/throttle service, alignment, rear wiper blade, and right outer tie rod end replacement. Less than three weeks later, on June 10, 2026, we brought the vehicle back because we noticed a scraping sound near the rear wheel and had concerns about acceleration. We understand that new issues can happen with any vehicle, especially an older one. However, what bothered us was the timing. After paying for a major service visit on May 22, it was frustrating to return so soon and be presented with more costs and recommended work. For the most recent visit, we paid $532.99 for the most recent visit, and the work is still not fully complete because the pre-ordered part still needs to be installed. Because of that, we expect another fee when we return. We were also given additional recommendations, including spark plug service and valve cover gasket-related work. What concerns us most is that on the May 22 inspection, the brakes were checked and recorded, but on the June 10 inspection, the brake section says “Not Checked This Visit,” even though our complaint involved a scraping sound near the rear wheel. That does not give us confidence that the vehicle was inspected as thoroughly as it should have been. We are not mechanics, and we do not have professional experience with car repairs. Although we own a vehicle, that does not mean we know every detail about what is happening under the car or what repairs are truly necessary when a problem comes up. As customers, we need to be told what is urgent, what can wait, and why certain problems were not noticed during a recent service. Without that clear explanation, it becomes difficult to feel confident or trust the recommendations, especially when each visit seems to result in more work and a bigger bill. We understand that vehicles need repairs and maintenance, especially as they get older. However, based on these experiences, we were left feeling uncomfortable, unsure, and not fully confident in the service recommendations. Because of this, we are seriously considering taking our vehicle to an independent mechanic for second opinions going forward. More

BUYER BEWARE My wife had happily been with Midway Nissan for years completing 2 back-to-back leases. Prior to signing for our 3rd lease, we wanted to buy out the current vehicle to sell to a family member w for years completing 2 back-to-back leases. Prior to signing for our 3rd lease, we wanted to buy out the current vehicle to sell to a family member who was having trouble affording a vehicle. This is when things went south. We had carefully reviewed the terms on the lease agreement to prepare for the buyout. Our intent was to buy out the vehicle 1 month early and pay the early termination fee. It is understandable that there would be fees associated with the administrative side of a lease buyout. These fees came to $500 for the termination and $100 for the dealership + HST as per the contract. However when discussing this with the finance manager, he had added hundreds of dollars in dealer fees on top of what was stated in the contract. When indicating that the terms of the contract had substantially less in fees, his response was “Dealer fees are in addition to the contract, set by us (the dealer) and are non-negotiable. If you take issue with this, you can always call head office but good luck getting through”. This was approximately an additional $600 + HST. He then tried to force us into doing a pricey safety inspection through his Nissan dealership ($179+HST) and did not allow us to go to another certified mechanic (or it would void the buy back process). He justified this by saying he was “sued in the past thus protecting the dealership of any liability.’ There is no law in Ontario forcing you to safety the vehicle at the dealership you purchased it at. This was a strong arm tactic to dissuade us from the buyout process by making it as financially painful as possible. To add to this, what’s to stop them from running up costly repairs in an effort to a) make more off you b) make you rethink the buyout since you can simply hand back the car instead of going through with the safety. To recap, the early buyout fee in the contract was $500 to Nissan Finance Canada, $100 to the dealership plus tax. The dealership then added $600 + $179 for a safety plus tax. This was roughly $880 on top of what was in our contract. We called NCF head office directly to voice our frustrations. We waited on hold for maybe 2 minutes during the holidays, and the agent helped us with doing the buyout directly through NCF via online banking. The admin fees matched the contract description to the letter, and we were even able to terminate the lease early with them waiving the $100 dealership fee I mentioned above. Ultimately this came to the residual car value + 500 for the early buyout + tax. We were able to avoid the $880 ‘dealership non-negotiable fee” by cutting them out directly and dealing with the more experienced and customer friendly head office. We paid online, shipped them our registration by mail during the holidays, and we still got our ownership and bill of sale back in 2 business days. When we asked where we must go to fulfill the safety inspection, NCF stated they do not require a safety on their end, but Service Ontario would require a safety to get the vehicle re-plated. It was shocking to learn that safety inspections are none of Nissan’s requirements but merely a way to over complicate and inflate the buyout process. I was able to get the safety completed for half the rate of Midway Nissan, and took the slip to the gov’t office myself. The NCF process was seamless, true to the contract, with excellent customer support. As a result, we have opted to leave Nissan for our next lease. Their lack of honesty and transparency has us worried and unconfident in their name. Anyone looking to buyout a lease: please save yourself the trouble and $$ and give NCF a call - they are much more deserving of a 5* review. More
