The salespeople are not trustworthy, lack integrity and really don't care whether the customer is satisfied. This dealership works on volume -- do not be tricked! really don't care whether the customer is satisfied. This dealership works on volume -- do not be tricked! More
I recently purchased a 2006 Mini Cooper from MINI Downtown in Toronto. I don't know where to begin. I was on vacation when i picked up the car (i live in Moncton, NB) They emailed me the night before Downtown in Toronto. I don't know where to begin. I was on vacation when i picked up the car (i live in Moncton, NB) They emailed me the night before the scheduled delivery to say that they couldn't give me a temporary permit because i hadn't sent them a copy of my passport, i went to the dealership the next day and there the car was with a temporary permit on it. Okay a little misunderstanding, no problem. Then upon inspection of the vehicle i find that the side mirror is loose and has a big scrape in it which i was assured would be fixed. Then i got inside the vehicle, it had been clearly smoked in, which they also assured it hadn't been. Okay so these issues weren't the end of the world. They had a mechanic take a look at the mirror and they said if i wasn't leaving the next day they could have fixed it. I didn't buy this but at this pointed i just wanted to get out of there. So the car seemed fine on the drive home and everything. When i got back to New Brunswick i took the vehicle for a provincial inspection as required by law. It failed, the mechanic advised me that both front lower ball joints would need to be replaced, the muffler was rusted and was almost gone and the brakes had more corrosion than would normally be acceptable but they would let it slide. Immediately assuming that they were trying to rip me off i took it to another mechanic who also failed it for the same things and gave me a quote for $1200. I informed the dealership back in Toronto and they talked to my local dealer MINI Moncton, and they wanted me to take it there. So I did and upon inspection, they said all it needed was one ball joint, and that they would need to remove the front window tint as it is not legal in NB. It was fixed at the expense of MINI Downtown. I was pleased to have this finally sorted out. When i picked up the vehicle they said i would receive in the next few weeks a survey on how they did, however after this i never received any survey, or any contact at all from them. Yesterday i was doing a few things under the hood and i discovered that the car had been in a bit of a fender bender on the passenger side it is bent in under the plastic trim and the plastic trim is broken underneath. Also while doing some work on the vehicle i have discovered that both the front and rear bumper have been Repainted. Overall i am very disappointed in the service i received, and whether it was dishonesty, or they just didn't check over the vehicle well enough they should have been aware of all of these issues. I didn't expect the vehicle to be perfect as it is used but i did expect the obvious things to be fixed and for it to be able to pass a simple provincial inspection. The bottom line is i would never buy from this dealer again, and i would never recommend them. More
My wife purchased her second Mini. The last purchase and a few service calls were a horrible customer experience at Oakville Mini (Budds). This time we decided to try the Mini Downtown Toronto. Wow. What a a few service calls were a horrible customer experience at Oakville Mini (Budds). This time we decided to try the Mini Downtown Toronto. Wow. What a difference. A bunch of pros starting with sales (Sam - #1 Mini salesperson across Canada for years) through to the paperwork and delivery guys. The walk through about features by Brian was super educational to the many little design features that Mini has poured into the vehicle. Mini is not a cheap purchase and this dealership made this a great experience and my wife is thrilled. Go visit Sam ... he'll hook you up with a great car. More
