$7500 Toureg Factory Defect Ignored I own a 2007 Toureg with 140,000 km mileage and a 10mm bolt in the oil pump drive assembly has failed which requires $7500 worth of diagnostics and re I own a 2007 Toureg with 140,000 km mileage and a 10mm bolt in the oil pump drive assembly has failed which requires $7500 worth of diagnostics and repairs at my cost according to this dealership. A quick search of the Internet reveals that a lot of owners have the same problem. While the service consultant did a great job working with me, the service manager and other dealer management and VW Customer Care (a laughable name) bounced me back and forth without actually addressing the issue. I am an engineer and understand a factory defective situation when I see one (plus the OEM replacement part comes with a 12mm bolt correcting the problem). The dealership and VW lack the integrity to address the problem and are willing to dump the factory defect and repair on the customer. My advice - if you are considering a Toureg or VW with a V6 engine, budget another $10K for service like this because VW and the dealer are going to stick you with the repair bill solving problems they are responsible for! More
