We have purchased three new vehicles at Laird Wheaton including a Cadillac over the years, and until now we were always treated with respect and courtesy by the staff. However, this was not the case w including a Cadillac over the years, and until now we were always treated with respect and courtesy by the staff. However, this was not the case with our recent experience. We were looking at a used Yukon that we saw advertised online. After visiting the dealership to view the vehicle and test drive it, the salesman suggested that there would be at least $1,500 in room for a price reduction. I returned the next day to make an offer after reviewing the vehicle history, and online valuations. I made an offer at the very top of the published dealer retail value for the vehicle in question, minus repairs that were required. One valuation indicated that the vehicle was listed at $1,950 above market dealership retail value without even considering the two major defects it had. After presenting my offer, the salesperson returned from the sales manager's office with a message that they were going to repair the heavily corroded rims at Renewz in Nanaimo, and that the other defect of missing stitching on the leather steering wheel was "dismissed out of hand" (their words). It seemed that they were trying to present the impression that they were offended by my offer. In fact, they refused to counter offer. I had offered $3,900 less than the list price of 36,900 on an 8 year old vehicle with 4 trashed rims. It's their vehicle. Of course, they can sell it, or keep it. However, being rude is unacceptable. Who gets offended by an offer, and refuses to counter? I left the dealership with a very bad taste in my mouth. However, my wife really liked the vehicle as it checked all of the boxes for her after any necessary repairs were made. So, she encouraged me to make another offer. I suggested to the salesman that we would pay the full market valuation assuming that there were no defects. They came back suggesting that we could perhaps only receive a $495 discount from their list price! So, to be clear, they were going backwards, and completely wasting our time, and negotiating in bad faith. It turns out that the sales manager (Ross Barnard) was also not telling the truth about their plans to repair the rims as Renewz does not even carry out polished aluminum wheel repairs in Nanaimo. The Renewz staff told me this in person. About a week later, the salesman reached out to me to inform me that the vehicle had been sold. A few days after that, I saw that they were still advertising it on Facebook! I sent an enquiry to see what they'd say... They didn't even respond to the message and merely say "sorry, it's no longer available" They just marked it sold without even responding. More completely unacceptable time wasting, and lack of common courtesy. In my experience, most car dealers have now elevated their professionalism and practices from those of the old days which gave car sales a negative reputation. It seems that Laird Wheaton still has a few relics of the past on the payroll. We will be driving to Duncan or Parksville to service our new Yukon Denali bought elsewhere. More

I've even gone as far as leaving a vm for a manager to have my number removed. You have no comparison to your sister company in Saskatchewan, one could probably learn a lot from them, as they are outstanding, I was there customer for multiple years! Your repair department on the other hand...there's a reason I've never came back. I feel like I should follow up with them, so they are aware of your dealings. More

This was not taken care of. My phone could not be paired and the salesperson said it was an issue with my phone. I looked into this with Apple and London Drugs and there is no problem with my phone. I took the vehicle into the local dealership in Comox where neither the service manager nor a staff member could pair their phones. The service manager asked me if I had been given an additional set of tires and was I aware that I was driving on dedicated snow tires which are not suitable for summer driving. I was not! I contacted Laird Wheaton as I was really upset and made an appointment to bring the vehicle in. To my surprise they suggested an option of giving them another $6,000 for a new vehicle. Not an option for me. I asked them to simply provide the proper tires and they could keep the snow tires. No resolution. I purchased the proper tires through my local dealership at a cost to me of $767.19 Only one key fob was given to me at the time of purchase and I requested an additional one be provided which was not and was told I could purchase another one for $316.00. It was found that the radio/infotainment system, back up camera were not working. As still under warranty these were replaced. There were still issues with using OnStar and this was not repaired until August 16th through OnStar online. This dealership had not done a thorough check of operating systems prior to selling me the vehicle. A lot of time, stress, anxiety has arisen out of Laird Wheaton’s questionable business practices More
They are selling vehicles without a thorough professional inspection. Buyer beware!!!! Upon these findings in a vehicle we were going to purchase, we were told there was nothing they could do. They are going inspection. Buyer beware!!!! Upon these findings in a vehicle we were going to purchase, we were told there was nothing they could do. They are going to sell it to someone else. I can only assume they are going to do that because they did not reply to me after our findings!!! More
I purchased a new Vehicle from Laird Wheaton and have had nothing but GREAT service, Mechanic found a faulty part without me having to look and ordered the Part. With Covid it took a while to get it from GM nothing but GREAT service, Mechanic found a faulty part without me having to look and ordered the Part. With Covid it took a while to get it from GM. Not Laird's fault - Sales Manager looked after a little challenge that we had getting the correct part, I see Labor Costs complaints on this blog. Where can you go today that the labor charge is not around 120/130 hour. Doesn't matter if it is a Dealership or you local Plumber. We are all in this Big World Together! Piano Lessons have gone up to!! lol More
First off, they sold me the vehicle without the antenna. I mentioned to my Dealer that the radio wasn't great and we weren't able to get reception in our own town but nothing was done at that time. This tim I mentioned to my Dealer that the radio wasn't great and we weren't able to get reception in our own town but nothing was done at that time. This time, I came in and mentioned my radio not being that great and they said they'd have a look at it for me. They told me that my antenna was recently stolen and that's why my radio sucks. I never had an antenna on this truck (provided photo proof), was never installed, and I told my dealer this so that they could stop saying "Big Bad Nanaimo" stole it from me but he clearly never passed on the message because even the day I brought it in, they still said that it was "Stolen". Always good to see that they are blaming others instead of taking ownership of the problem. It also worries me that they can't tell a year and half of exposure vs new and freshly stolen. They offered to cover the antenna for me so I brought it in for my appointment at 0915 but they weren't able to get it in so they had it all day. It was in the exact same spot as when I dropped it off so it didn't even go in the shop, so why couldn't someone install it while I stood there. It was a pretty frustrating adventure to Laird Wheaton More

I refused to pay and the service guy immediately threatened collections so I spoke with a manager in a room filled with big guys with their arms crossed (more kept arriving as I spoke). When it became clear to the manager I wasn't going to pay or to play his game of 'let's be reasonable and negotiate'. I was offered a lifetime ban, which I proudly accepted. A large man with his arms crossed watched me until I pulled away. Reported to Chevy Canada. More

The oil change was completed, along with a tire rotation, topping up all the fluids, all at no charge because of the Caddie four year maintenance program I got with my new car. Oh, and the clincher for me was the vacuum and car wash that was done after the service! It really felt like i was appreciated as a customer, and thanked for buying a higher end car! Thank you Laird Wheaton Service! 🥰 More
