We had gone in for a scheduled maintenance, which included a free wash and vacuum of the vehicle. The maintenance included a multi point inspection which was completed, but had been instructed to come back in 1 and half hours due to the process taking this long, for vacuuming and washing. This was not done, the shuttle driver had been trying to work with Kevin Toews, who had not responded when asked if he should come and pick us up. This wouldn't be bad, considering they were busy, but this isn't the first instance of this happening to us, I will be requesting different service advisor on our next visit. More

dealership really knows their stuff! our problems started with a sudden engine oil leak on a 1992 geometro, named metronome because this car takes my son to music class. i took metrono our problems started with a sudden engine oil leak on a 1992 geometro, named metronome because this car takes my son to music class. i took metronome to a garage in victoria that had earned my confidence in the past. they worked diligently for about an hour, after which they told me that they couldn't figure out where the leak was coming from and suggested i have the engine shampooed at a specialty shop. then, i was to bring the car immediately back to them, so they could try to find the leak. the shampooing would be about $200 and the rest of it could run $1000! i called another garage and was told that the suggested process was quite correct. with my spirits running about as low as the engine oil, i thought i'd try island gmc in duncan and talked to neil burton. he listened to the suggestions i had been given and said that though they were reasonable, what they'd do is use brake fluid to clean the engine after which they'd run it to find the leak. he seemed pretty confident and what's more, he said bring it in right away! neil had the car looked at by nick. it took less than 45 minutes for the latter to determine where the leak was - bad seals in the timing chain area. neil said the parts were only $15, but the time to put everything together would be 3 hours. i was very impressed with the organization and efficiency that neil and nick had demonstrated! i was even more impressed when the job had been completed for a very reasonable cost and i was about to drive away. before i did, though, i asked neil how it was that they were able to solve the problem so quickly, while the other garage had so much difficulty. neil explained that they are a gmc dealership and their mechanics know gmc cars. i told neil that i was going to bring our other gmc car here very soon! several days later, i dropped in to the dealership and told neil that metronome was running perfectly and there was no trace of any oil leaking - i had been checking every fillup too! neil said that's what they like to hear - that things were going perfectly! no surprise here! when you fix things perfectly, they work perfectly!! prad More
keeping our city safe! after the excellent experience here with our other gm car, i decided to bring our 98 oldsmobile for a general checkup. willi looked after things and s after the excellent experience here with our other gm car, i decided to bring our 98 oldsmobile for a general checkup. willi looked after things and suggested we also have the wheel alignment and brakes examined. since our other car was already there i drove it home because it was a busy day at the dealership. several hours later, the car was ready and al who drove the courtesy service picked me up. i had a most interesting conversation with him about music ranging from elvis to opera and after we arrived i saw that the oldmobile was sparkling! they had done an excellent job washing it. of course, the rest of the work done was superb too and at reasonable cost. the brakes had been cleaned very well (the earlier squeaking was gone) and the alignment had been adjusted appropriately. willi explained that proper alignment was beneficial to longer tire life. he went through the diagrams that showed the alteration parameters and i appreciated this extra 'education'. the car was running beautifully as i drove home. however, when i parked i found that the footbrake was so stiff that i needed to transform myself into the hulk to push it down! this was not a problem in the past. the following week i took the car back for what i thought was supposed to be a simple adjustment. despite the fact that it was another busy day at the dealership, willi found a mechanic, mike, to look at the vehicle. while i watched from the service area, i saw the car going up and down, the wheels coming on and off - this small adjustment had turned in to a major production! i asked willi what was going on and he explained that footbrakes weren't as simple to adjust as handbrakes. he went through the design of the former illustrating with a sketch. again, this education was quite interesting to me because willi did such a good job with his dissertation. he also added that mike was trying to get the job done so that the brake functioned perfectly. since i had thought that was going to be a simple job, i felt rather bad for getting them to do all this work especially since it was a busy day. when i expressed my regrets to willi, he told me not to worry, because he wanted me to be completely happy with the car. besides, he went on, if people like me didn't bring work for their mechanics to do, he said, a fine person like mike might end up joining a gang or something. yes, he made me feel as though i was doing society a real service! well mike was indeed a fine individual! he took the trouble to ask me to check the brake after he was finished so it was just right. well it really was perfect! he explained it had taken a long time because the cable had seized, so he had to work on the brake parts. as i drove away (not being charged for this work), i couldn't help think that, despite willi's considerate concerns, mike really wouldn't join a gang if i hadn't brought him this car to fix. that may be because he was already part of the island gmc gang, which may well be the finest one in all duncan! prad More
