I had an awful experience having my vehicle serviced at Hunt Club Nissan But first, let me begin with MY mistake. I took too long to do an oil change, and it caused some issues where I was losing power Hunt Club Nissan But first, let me begin with MY mistake. I took too long to do an oil change, and it caused some issues where I was losing power during acceleration. The dealer did some investigating, and rightly discovered that there was sludge in my engine. Totally my fault. They tried a couple different engine flushes, got rid of some of the gunk, and handed it back to me letting me know it was a bit better, but the issue was still there. There wasn’t really anything else they could do, and that I would likely need a new engine; $25,000-$30,000 Despite the work they did, the engine light still came on during the drive home. Fair enough, they warned me that that might happen. I think I’m screwed… I’m going to have to spend every single dollar I have to get my vehicle back to health. The part that I’m really angry about was the response that I got when I called about specifically exploring the the error codes we were getting during the diagnostic.. they told me “Because of the sludge, the mechanic doesn’t think it’s worth it to go chasing codes, it could be anything” In the meantime, I went and talked to 3 independent mechanics, and ALL 3 OF THEM said the same thing… that it sounded like a sensor. I had one of the mechanics remove the sensors, clean them, replace them, and BAM, my vehicle runs like a dream again. $300… 1% of the $30,000 estimate I was given. Since this has happened, I’ve driven 4000km, climbed Mt. Washington, and the vehicle has been awesome. Why were the 3 independent mechanics all able to diagnose the issue, while the Nissan specialist was so incompetent? There was no suggestions of you couldc try this or that… it just jumped right to “you probably need a new engine” My issue is mostly with the people who worked on the vehicle; my service advisor was fine to work with, he relayed all the information as he got it, and was patient with all my questions. He’s the reason I’m giving two stars, rather than one. I’ve heard before that you should only ever get you vehicle serviced at the dealership if it’s for warranty work..Now I see why. More
