Dear Mr. Parchanski, I am aware of your concern with the windshield wiper concern on your vehicle and just wanted you to be aware of the position we are in and why. Safety recalls and extended coverage policies, by the manufacturer, are vehicle specific. By this I mean, either GM or Transport Canada have identified that certain vehicles have the potential to exhibit specific characteristics that could potentially effect passenger safety and/or vehicle reliability. The manufacturer will then implement either a recall if the concern is safety related, or, an extended coverage special policy if the concern is more related to certain component reliability. When they have identified these potential concerns the owners of these vehicles are contacted to make arrangements to get the potential concern rectified using updated parts that will prevent any future concerns of the described nature from reoccurring. While your vehicle does exhibit a similar condition as described the recall that you have found on the Transport Canada website, your vehicle is not listed in the serial number specific list to have the repair performed at no charge under the terms of the recall. Because of this, the dealer does not have the ability to submit a claim to GM to have the updated parts replaced at their expense. This is not a decision made at the dealer level and I hope you understand this. I know you live in Airdrie and I would welcome the opportunity to discuss the required repairs and how Davis Chevrolet could assist should you decide to allow us this opportunity.
