Carrie Bene is no doubt the best car sales person we've ever experienced. She clearly believes that developing a long-term relationship is an integral part of the sales process. We've also had our previous 2004 Civic serviced at Clarington Honda since it first opened and have appreciated the convenience of having a good dealership nearby. We have always been satisfied with the service. We have a Honda snowblower and a generator and have also found the people in the parts department very helpful and easy to deal with. More
Warranty Service I put my 2015 Honda Civic SI in to Clarington Honda for an oil leak which was covered under factory warranty. Originally Clarington Honda came highly recommended by neighbors and Honda employees that I know. The work they preformed on my car I am happy with as they got it repaired in an afternoon. However upon picking my car up there was damage to the left front fascia lip. I didn’t notice it till the next day as it was pouring rain when I picked the car up. Upon discovery of the damage immediately called Steve Barton the Service Manager. I sent the pictures of the damage to him via e-mail and brought the car back in for him to see the damage. I know It was not there when I brought the car in and I know I did not cause the damage. Steve said that his employees did not cause the damage and was unwilling to cover the cost of the repair. ( Service Tech bumped the leg of hoist on the fascia lip, damaging the paint and leaving red paint from the hoist on my blue car) Talked with the Mike Clayton and I had a sense of concern from him, so I am going to give him credit for that. However he ended up siding with Steve and unwilling to take responsibility for the incident. Here is what you really need to know. Called Honda corporate and was hoping they would be helpful, however they were not. They haven’t got any power to override a dealers complaints from customers as each Honda dealer is independently owed and operated. So to make a long story short this is what is suggested when you bring in your car for service at a Honda Dealership, always inspect the car for damage with the service advisor. A walk around before and after service. Have the advisor note any dings/dent’s or scratches before signing the work order. Just as a little note my Civic SI is a show car so there was not any damage on the car before service. I had to pay to have the paint repaired. It cost me a mere $100, but now Honda has lost a future customer and Clarington Honda has lost my trust and my business. More
Unacceptable Service Took car in for warranty issue on the front rotors warping at 20,000 km. They replaced the rotors under warranty but did not put my caliper back in pr Took car in for warranty issue on the front rotors warping at 20,000 km. They replaced the rotors under warranty but did not put my caliper back in properly. They forgot to put in a bolt that holds the caliper in place!! Caliper fell out and was rubbing on the inside of my rim. Took car back, took pics of damage, they call me and tell me a story of how a bolt was loose and they tightened it, I mention are you sure it was a loose bolt because the pictures I have show no bolt. They backtrack and say oh I am just going on what my tech told me. No apologies or anything. They were not willing to replace my damaged rim (I was not too concerned because was not noticeable from outside) but they needed to balance my tire because it knocked the weights off. They apparently balanced tire but after taking vehicle I noticed it vibrated a lot at 80-120 km/hr. Took it back and I get a lengthy story about how the tech has 20 years as a mechanic and that's a normal vibration. Took to another dealer and they balanced the tired saying they were off. Fixed problem and car ran fine. Tried to get reimbursed for the added cost and service manager just says I'm not paying for that.... Side note, the shotty work the mechanic did on the brakes could have cost my wife and kids their life if I didn't notice it right away and took it back. If the caliper piston opened up it would have locked the wheel and sent the car into an uncontrollable skid. Imagine if you were on the highway!!! And they still didn't care. Not even an apology. Does the Dealer know or care? I moved to Bowmanville in 2011, without even considering other options I started taking my 2005 Accord to Clarington Honda for service. I was happy wi I moved to Bowmanville in 2011, without even considering other options I started taking my 2005 Accord to Clarington Honda for service. I was happy with the service, felt the price was a bit high but also felt it was quality I could trust. Then I brought my car in to drop off and was informed the driver who would drive me home had left. I was told (correctly or incorrectly) I had to be there by 5 in order to get a drive home. I called from my office in Newcastle to confirm and made it there by 5-to5 a 10 minute drive. And.............the driver had gone home. I vowed to never go back. (This visit was for a recall so I had to go back.) Since then I've been going to a very affordable mechanic who seems like a great mechanic but way too busy. As my car is 10 years old I wanted a certified Honda Dealer to look at it. And (sorry for the long email) back when I vowed to never return I felt bad I had given the Dealer an opportunity to hear of my experience. I called there today to book a service appointment and likely spoke to the same woman from my previous visit. Her attitude was abrupt, self righteous a real..."The customer is always wrong" attitude. I couldn't believe it. I'm still going to go to a Honda Dealership for service.....just not this one. Who owns this Dealership and are they aware of the problem. Maybe the women on the phone is the owner. That would explain a lot. More

I boought a used Honda Civic for a friend and was very dissatisfied when we picked up the vehicle. The car showed empty on the gas gauge and I mentioned same to the salesman. He appeared unconcerned stat dissatisfied when we picked up the vehicle. The car showed empty on the gas gauge and I mentioned same to the salesman. He appeared unconcerned stating that the vehicle had plenty of gas to get to Toronto. We did not get off the lot and the yellow feed me light glowed on the dash indicating impending empty.. Seen as we had to drive 30 miles we put $53.00 worth of gat at the nearby station. Tires may have passed inspection but one blew 10 days later. I will not make the mistake of dealing there again and I have owned honda products for 9 years. More
Sale associate was excellent (Mike Fraser), fought for the best deal possible for us. This is the second brand new Civic we have bought here. First new car we purchased the Financial Adviser's name was Fr the best deal possible for us. This is the second brand new Civic we have bought here. First new car we purchased the Financial Adviser's name was Frank, was very unimpressed, he was very pushy and would not take no for an answer. Thankfully this time around he was no longer employed and his replacement, Mike Fan, was excellent and very understanding. Both transactions went smoothly. The only hiccup we have had is when picking up our 2013 I notice one of the lug nuts seemed loose, under closer inspection the nut was tight but no where near bottomed on the wheel. The stud had been stripped. This should NOT happen during PDI, especially on a car with 7 km on it right before the new owners are about to pick it up. However, they quickly brought the car into the shop, made us comfortable in the showroom and replaced it promptly constantly apologizing. Obviously not the showroom staff's fault. Overall good experience, have only ever been to 1 better dealer, most are below par in expectations. Its nice when you find a half decent one. More
