Oh my! Well that was fun. Went in March 3 and met with salesman and manager Ken. We arrived at a ballpark figure over 84 months, 0 down, taxes in + an extra Well that was fun. Went in March 3 and met with salesman and manager Ken. We arrived at a ballpark figure over 84 months, 0 down, taxes in + an extra $3-$6 biweekly for an extended warranty. I presented an ad from another dealership of an SL at the same price and 7,000 kms less. Said I would check it out and get back to them. That following week I got back to them about the other offer and sent them via email attachment, 2 others that showed theirs was priced too high: another SL at the same price as their SV with much lesser kms and an SV $500 less and 12,000 kms less. This is where the fun began. They now asked if I was putting $2K down and if it was for 96 months? Huh? I reminded them of our in-person discussion adding I had email exchanges showing that we never discussed this. Well, continuous exchanges led to Ken stating that my offer would require a “4-5000 price adjustment” or lengthening my finance term. When I replied stating why that wasn’t made clear that past Saturday instead of waiting my time, Ken came back with this little beauty (which again I have in an email): “We will price match/beat a price when a customer brings an add to our showroom”. And the kicker, “if you want to buy a car, show up and buy a car. I told you it cannot be done, situation over”. Wowsers! Doesn’t that just exude professionalism? He then went on to say that the Auto-Trader payment calculator doesn’t always correlate. You’re right Ken, that’s why we did the in-person payment calculator. Funny also how selective memory works given I brought in an ad and sent 2 by email. I’ve had my share of experiences but none quite like this one. Almost comical really. Oh well, blessing in disguise as I’ll be wrapping up a real deal with real professionals on Monday. Don’t say I didn’t warn ya! More
