Worse experience ever from a Dealership and Car Manufacturer We live in Northern Ontario and unfortunately this Dealership is the closest to us and where any ACURA vehicle will be towed if you are North of Barri We live in Northern Ontario and unfortunately this Dealership is the closest to us and where any ACURA vehicle will be towed if you are North of Barrie. Tansmission failed coming back from a trip down South near North Bay. Called customer service and MDX was towed to closest dealership - Acura of Barrie. This Dealership and its Service Manager first denied the warranty, said wrong Transmision fluid was added to it! Never touched or had the transmission servcied on this 2014 MDX with less than 50,000KM. Had to fight with them and Honda (Acura) of Canada to get this covered (this is a long story and well documented) - I even went back to get a sample of the oil two weeks later to have it analyzed professionally by a 3rd party after I knew this was going to be a problem. The samples came back 100% positive that it was the correct oil in the transmission at time of failure. This took 4 months before I got the vehicle back... dealership said that I would have to pay for storage fees for leaving the vehicle there - said I abamdoned the vehicle - total charge for this was still on the repair invoice when I finally got the vehicle back with a new transmission which Acura did finally warranty (storage fee would have been about $2,000.00). To top it off, when I picked-up the vehicle, the Service Manager, which I will not mention her name, told me that the correct transmission fluid was actually the one they said was the incorrect fluid that was first added and cause the failure in the first placed. I told her "you realize that now you are telling the exact opposite of what you told me 4 months ago". She insisted that the correct fluid was the ATF Type 3.0 (smelly yellow oil) and actually made me follow her to the parts department and dropped a black coloured bottle of a liter of it on the parts counter and said "this is the oil that goes in it, want to smell it?" I actually knew better, I had purchased a liter of each type when I first started having the problems with the warranty claim along with the drained oil sample and sent all 3 to be analyzed by a lab. I knew the correct oils for the 2014 MDX was the ATF DW-1. I just was so upset, I told her to just give me my keys and the paper work so I could get out of there. I later reported to Acura of Canada that they should spend a little more time training their service managers at their dealership - well, at least this one at Acura of Barrie. Here is my conclusion: Know that is you live anywhere North of Barrie and your vehicle requires to be towed, it will be brought to this Dealership. Be aware of this when buying an ACURA. I've owned at least 10 vehicles in my life so far and will own many more, many being the luxury brands (INFINITI being one of my favorites) which we think would provide better quality and better service - this was my first ACURA and it will be my last. This is by far the worse I've ever been treated by both a dealership and car manufacturer. The vehicle's transmission failed back in May 2016 and I didn't get it back until September 2016. No compensation except for a SORRY from Acura and a credit on a new vehicle if I decide to lease or buy another ACURA or HONDA. What do you think I should buy for my next vehicle? You wonder why ACURA is at the bottom of the list for Customer Satisfaction (see: Canada's jdpower's ratings study on Luxury vehicles) now you know why! More
I had recently purchased a used vehicle from the Acura Dealership in Barrie. I am writing a review so that others that purchase vehicles from their dealership are aware to make sure they understand the ov Dealership in Barrie. I am writing a review so that others that purchase vehicles from their dealership are aware to make sure they understand the overall price of the vehicle before signing. I had been test driving a used Honda Accord priced at $14,500, Mr. Osborne who is in sales at Acura, asked me what it would take for me to buy the Honda Accord? I told him I would like the superficial scratches on the vehicle buffed out, and to reduce the price to $14,000 and I would purchase the vehicle. He asked me to point out all the scratch marks on the car I wanted fixed, I told him that if he walked around he would see them, mostly on the trunk, but fix anything that is visible. He asked me to sign a piece of paper saying I would purchase the car if those two requirements were met, so I did. He then went to check the deal with Mr. Nathan Griffith, Sales Manager, and came back and said to myself and my boyfriend, "Good news, I was able to get an additional $200.00 off the vehicle price." I was more than happy as he exceeded my requests. I then went to sign all the papers, and I noticed that the price of the vehicle read $14,300. I asked the woman I was dealing with in the Finance Department why the price read $14,300 when it should read $14,000. She said she would check with Mr. Osborne as she did not know what deal was negotiated. She had been pleasant up until that point. Mr. Osborne came in and said that he told us he could only get $200 off the purchase price, I told him that is not what he told us, and that he made it sound like he was able to reduce the amount a total of $700. He said no, so I said that was not the deal. Mr. Osborne told me he didnt want to lose a sale over $300 so he would have the total price reduced to $14,000 as was discussed before I agreed to buy the vehicle. The woman printed off a new copy of the agreement for me to sign, when I noticed the price was $14,000 plus an additional $299 Globali security charge for the vehicle. I asked what that was, she said to me in a very sarcastic voice, that obviously Mr. Osborne was suppose to go over all this with me. I informed her that he did not, and I would like to know what I am paying for before signing. She said it was a feature they have on all of their vehicles in case of theft, I asked her if it was optional or manditory, she said it was manditory. Funny how the price of the security system made up for the additional $299 the dealership reduced from the vehicle. The next day I came over to pick up the vehicle with my mom, she happened to ask Mr. Griffith if the Globali security feature was optional or manditory, he said it was optional! I told him that I did not want it and that I was told yesturday prior to signing the purchase agreement that it was manditory. He told me that if he removed the cost of the security system, he was going to charge me $299 for administration fees?!?! My mom told him that was pretty coincidental that the administrative fee was exactly the cost of the security feature I did not want. I did end up buying the vehicle as I had taken a rental back the previous day, and I was excited to pick up the used Honda. I am un-impressed with how the Dealership tried several times to increase the purchase price of the vehicle, after we had a verbal and written agreement, then perceded to be rude when I asked why the price was different each time I went to sign the purchase agreement. I would not recommend this dealership to anyone, but if you do purchase from them make sure you know the price of your vehicle before signing anything as they will most likely sneak in "hidden costs".
