Anthony was extremely understanding and apologetic. I'm extremely impressed with this level of responsiveness, honesty, and communication. I'll definitely be back next time I need to buy a car and I'm definitely going to recommend Fred Anderson Toyota to friends and family. Original review: I filled out an online interest form and then spoke with Shannon over the phone several times. She was friendly, helpful, and responsive. I made an appointment to come in and look at a new Corolla hybrid on Friday afternoon, for early Saturday morning. On Saturday morning, Shannon called about 1/2 hour before my appointment to tell me that the vehicle had been sold on Friday night. I still came in, looking at reserving a Corolla hybrid coming in in about a month. When I arrived, I was handed off to Anthony. When I spoke with Shannon on the phone, I specifically asked if the dealership was doing a markup/market adjustment over MSRP and she told me that they were not marking cars up for local Charleston residents. Lo and behold, the first thing on the itemized price sheet Anthony gave me was a $2000 markup over MSRP. I totally understand a markup given the absurd market conditions at the moment and I went into the process expecting to pay one. It just felt bad to be blatantly lied to on the phone just to get me into the dealership. Anthony was friendly, knowledgeable, and had a great sense of humor. He didn't pressure me at all and helped me explore options. He was an excellent salesperson to work with. There was a minimal amount of upsell/random crap in the sales process and Anthony was very transparent about total itemized out the door pricing from the moment I walked in the door. On the whole it has been a pleasant dealership experience so far, aside from the lying on the phone. I ended up putting a deposit down on a Corolla hybrid which should be arriving in a month. I'll keep my review updated with my experience through the transit and arrival of my vehicle. I'll consider Fred Anderson Toyota the next time I'm buying a vehicle in the area, but they definitely haven't earned a lifelong customer or advocate at this point. More
