Always greeted with courtesy and staff well versed with Subaru's. Just had warranty done on a 2020 Outback. One issue, car had software update, but on return trip home a warning appeared to indicate Driv Subaru's. Just had warranty done on a 2020 Outback. If you are considering a Subaru with the 11.6” Starlink Screen, read this. Then google “Subaru Starlink screen failure” do yourself a favor and read a few of those links. These systems freeze constantly an Screen, read this. Then google “Subaru Starlink screen failure” do yourself a favor and read a few of those links. These systems freeze constantly and neither Matt Slap or Subaru will fix them. This review regards the service and management, the sales team was a pleasure to work with. We purchased a new ’21 Outback Onyx XT this summer after test driving several cars, we liked the car so much we ordered another ’22 Outback Wilderness as soon as they started taking deposits. The ’21 would be used for work travel, and one of the main reasons we purchased this car was the 11.6” Starlink Touchscreen for use with our Apple CarPlay. We depend on Nav, the ability to text via voice and hands free phone calls while traveling. Immediately the screen started to shut off, reboot and cease to function. This also turns off the Eyesight, rear automatic braking - both very important safety features. This happened many times while on the highway using the navigation, causing us to miss exits, spend 10 minutes each time trying to reboot the system and reconnect Apple CarPlay. When I spoke to an associate, they knew exactly what issue I was having- they practically finished my sentence. They know these systems fail and yet still sell the cars without warning buyers about the issues with Starlink and CarPlay. We took it to Matt Slap first time and they ‘flashed the system’ but failed to fix the issue. We took it in again and the same result. They ‘didn’t have a solution’ and blamed the manufacturer. The third time they had the car was to ‘put it in dealer mode’ and install the 480 watt stereo upgrade, a part that took them two months to get (that I could have had overnighted to my house at any time…) After explicit instructions on how to contact us, they repeatedly called the wrong number and when they finally interrupted our dinner with the correct number they asked what they should do with the amplifier. (I asked them to install it, as that was why the car was there). Still ‘could not replicate’ the screen error, and did not fix the issue. When I picked my car up the next day, it was filthy. The screen was covered in greasy fingerprints, there was trash on the floor and while we were cleaning the car we found tools under the drivers seat. Our ’21 and ’22 are on the same software build, with the same system- and only the ’21 has constant failures. Only one of our cars suffers these issues, so I have a difficult time accepting that it is a ‘software’ or ‘firmware’ issue. It’s a faulty CCU and they will not replace it. After several calls to corporate, endless emails and threads on SubaruOutback.org it is very clear that many owners have the same issue and Subaru has known about this for a long time. There have been class action lawsuits about the Starlink System. They know these units fail a lot- and still sell them and refuse to fix the issue. All we’ve asked of them is to give us the features we paid for, and they can’t be bothered to find a solution. We are trying another Subaru dealer’s service team and hope they can actually make the system work, we will not be bringing any of our cars back to Matt Slap. More

Best Sales and BEST SERVICE Around My entire experience with Matt Slap Subaru in Newark has been wonderful. The sales team came through on their promise of finding the model I had to h My entire experience with Matt Slap Subaru in Newark has been wonderful. The sales team came through on their promise of finding the model I had to have quicker than all the other dealers and for a very good price! Service has been amazing. I owned a Lexus sedan prior and the maintenance was killing my wallet. Matt Slap's maintenance has been terrific and the pricing is so fair, it's what you would expect to pay. No more feeling like I was being ripped off by Lexus!! Matt Slap has done dent repairs twice now on my car perfectly. Most recently Ben Slap worked with me and stuck with it to resolve a rattle coming from the dash board. Turns out it was a ground wire hitting an air flow box inside the engine. They kept the car 3 days and called in an expert with sound equipment from another state. The sound only happened if the car was cold. I am so relieved. Thank you Ben and Sal. If you are considering buying a new or used car Matt Slap is one place that will treat you fair and pricing on everything is fair and just. More

Don't even deserve 1 star. TERRIBLE customer service! Where to begin.. long story short. Bright my car in for some warranty work, was told I would hear back from them in 2 days. Never heard. Called severa Where to begin.. long story short. Bright my car in for some warranty work, was told I would hear back from them in 2 days. Never heard. Called several days after, and got the "well I don't know what's going on and the (service manager at the time) isn't here, but he will give you a call back". Of course never heard anything and then I repeated this process about 2 times. Finally got he work done. Fast forward 6 months, here I am again to have more warranty work done. This time after not hearing back for 2 weeks I called Subaru of America. Spoke to a really helpful woman, who was also unable to get ahold of any management member over he course of 3 days. Go figure? Well after this wonderful lady helped me get through all of this BS she sent me a service credit, that I will not use there unless for parts. Horrible communication and service manager has changed 3 times within 9 months. Sounds like someone higher up needs to be changed.. I literally cringe when I think about taking my car there. More
