I have had my third and final very poor and disappointing experience with Herb Chambers Service. The Service Manager was fine. However the technicians on each visit seem to either be highly inexperienced o experience with Herb Chambers Service. The Service Manager was fine. However the technicians on each visit seem to either be highly inexperienced or trained to not service older vehicles in hopes that I, the customer, might buy a new vehicle. My first visit was for a brake service. It took me 3 separate visits and two different technicians to get the brakes somewhat correct. I was told that “Tundra brakes are very difficult to adjust correctly”, and “we needed to replace the brand new rotors because they were defective and were etched as soon as you drove away”. It took two additional visits to fix the problem with their brake specialist, and I finally gave up with a job done 80% correctly. My second visit was a need for a proper wheel alignment. I was told that a 2015 truck was too old, and the adjustment bolts were probably frozen and they couldn’t get firm the alignment. After 5 minutes they said “yep. Can’t budge the bolts”. $125 and no repair. 2015 is old??? They gave me the truck back and it was obvious they didn’t even try. My most recent visit was to diagnose a noise under the hood. It only made the noise after the truck sat and cooled off. 20 minutes to cool off would have been sufficient. Not an entire day. I didn’t even get a call until 1:30 pm after dropping the truck off at 8:15 am. I was told the tech couldn’t identify the noise fast enough and it went away too quickly to diagnose. Supposedly it had to sit overnight. The next day I was told it was a probably (not definitely) a lifter issue and not worth fixing. I just paid off the vehicle, and wanted it fixed right. That’s why I chose to bring it to the dealership. There are so many other reasons a vehicle would make a noise like that, and sadly no other options were even explored. I paid $80 for the diagnosis and have nothing to show for it. These technicians are a joke. There is no attempt to fix any vehicle over 5 years old. Don’t even bother to try. More
