Careless ppl , not taking care of vehicles while in service, one floor mat paper and seat cover is been used for several cars. Do not care of stepping while entering or exiting the car, leaving marks service, one floor mat paper and seat cover is been used for several cars. In early March, the low oil light indicator flickered on and off when I tapped the brakes. So, I bought a litre of oil from Toyota (Whitby) late in the day and took it home and put it in. To my surprise, when I then checked the oil afterwards none registered on the dip stick. Concerned I would blow the motor if I drove the car to a dealership, I contacted a mobile mechanic who diagnosed an oil leak from the top caps. He replaced these in my driveway. I decided that having bought 5 L of oil from Toyota that the mechanic might as well change the oil filter as well (environmental as well as cost reasons I didn’t want to change it again when I next brought the car to Toyota) Unfortunately, two mechanics tried to remove the oil filter on site and in the process broke the tool but couldn’t release the filter. The filter had not been ‘seated’ properly and they couldn’t remove it without damaging the housing unit. The car had to be towed to a garage so that the filter and the piece next to the engine block(crank case?) could be replaced. The part (sourced from Toyota) was quoted at $1400.00. So I question why the oil filter wasn’t seated properly, and if it was seized, was it even changed in September? I am a senior and have been bringing my car to Whitby Toyota from Scarborough for 10+ year. My trust in Whitby Toyota has been eroded. I don’t wish to participate in a ‘he said/she said’ debate because I wouldn’t know who to believe. More
