It is especially frustrating when something unexpected happens to a vehicle that you depend on every day. Toyota has built a strong reputation for reliability, but unfortunately, from time to time, mechanical issues can occur. When they do, warranty coverage and repair authorization are handled and directed by Toyota Canada rather than our dealership. While that process is outside of our control, please know that we will do everything we can to assist with the repair and help get your vehicle back to you as quickly as possible. I also understand that being without your vehicle can be difficult. If you'd like, I would be happy to look into options regarding your loaner or rental vehicle. Thank you for your response, Brian. Unfortunately, I still strongly disagree with how this situation was handled. I was never provided with any actual video evidence, and the photos shown to me were taken after I had already handed over my vehicle and after time had passed. There was no damage marked on any intake or inspection documents when I arrived because the scratch and dent simply were not there before service. If such damage had existed, it absolutely should have been documented before the vehicle was accepted. Yes, my tire was repaired free of charge, and I appreciated that at the time. Now I honestly question whether the originally quoted $50 charge was waived because your team already knew damage had occurred during service. I would much rather have paid the $50 and received my vehicle back in the same condition I brought it in. What makes this even more disappointing is that I was genuinely happy to purchase my new vehicle from your dealership and trusted your service department. Instead, I was left shocked not only by the damage itself, but by the complete lack of accountability and customer care afterward. A situation like this could have been resolved professionally with honesty and respect toward the customer. Unfortunately, that did not happen. I truly hope other customers carefully document their vehicles before every service appointment, because I never expected to experience something like this at an official Toyota dealership.

According to our records, our service writer brought the damage to your attention, and the pictures we have were taken when you arrived, so I am unclear how we are not honest or professional. Your comments are confusing to us, as there is no " grey area " here. In the interest of pure customer satisfaction, I will offer to pay 50% of the body shop bill if you wish to have your scratchers repaired.

I am honestly shocked by this response. The vehicle did not have this scratch before the service appointment. I was sick at home and my husband drove me there — this vehicle is only used locally and I take extremely good care of it. I do not have any prior documentation of damage because there was no damage before. The scratch is on top of the hood, which makes this situation even more confusing for me. This whole situation has caused me a lot of stress and disappointment. I appreciate the offer, but I still strongly believe the damage occurred during the service visit.

There is no documentation or mark indicating pre-existing damage because the scratch simply was not there before. I appreciate that the tire repair was completed free of charge — thank you for that. However, I honestly would have preferred to pay the $49,99 myself and leave with my vehicle without a scratch.
