Untrustworthy, unethical etc I had an early morning appointment to test drive 2018 GMC truck which I submitted loan pre-approval and my trade-in value via their website. Upon my arrival I was quickly appointment to test drive 2018 GMC truck which I submitted loan pre-approval and my trade-in value via their website. Upon my arrival I was quickly approached by a salesman telling that the said vehicle just sold but don’t fret we just put a used truck into our inventory it passed the rigorous maintenance inspection with 111,000+ kms, no factory warranty remaining “but you can purchase a bumper to bumper extended warranty at a reasonable price of $5,000.00+And if that wasn’t enough I fell for a $5000.00+ then fell again for a $6,000+ extended health benefits plan. As if all of that wasn’t enough I took a big loss on my trade-in. It was odd that the moment I stepped into finance office all documents including loan application were waiting for my signature and my cash deposit. I leaving behind my beautiful 2018 Audi, less cash on hand and $40,000.00 more in debt. Fast forward seven months Nov 2024 after the first Saskatchewan cold spell & numerous feet of snow severe shaking and banging I completely unsafe driving that “six year old fully inspected King of Trucks” truck. The service department couldn’t get me in until the following Monday I purchased the $99.99 mandatory oil change + purchased their $59.99 bumper to bumper maintenance check. I was there from 9:30 to 4:30 the maintenance inspection produced a $5,000.00 QUOTE of maintenance recommendations, nearly $2000.00 of mandatory maintenance of which their bumper to bumper extended warranty covered $1495.+ and $495+ out of pocket expense oh 3 of the 4 shocks all need to be replaced which the service department said they would call me when they arrive and set up another maintenance appointment to have them installed. Nearly two weeks later and no call. Apparently the buyer is not entitled to the rigorous maintenance inspection done on that truck in May 2024 nor is the customer entitled to the $60.00 “recommended maintenance quote. Oh and despite the wickedly expensive extended bumper to bumper warranty will not cover the cost of 4 shocks and their installation. I believe they took advantage of my desperation, I was sold a truck that cannot manage a Saskatchewan winter and mechanically unfit when they sold me this vehicle in May 2024. Approximately 10,000 km of hiway driving, and respectfully driven for the past seven months caused all shocks to malfunction, tires are constantly losing air, filters and bulbs needed to be replaced, a number of hoses and seals needed to be replaced etc etc this what I remember of 3-5 page quote of course I was furious I was had by GM AGAIN. It infuriates me to think of all those hardworking, decent people before me that have been taken by the staff at “King of Trucks GM Mainline I’m furious at myself for letting my guard down - putting my faith and trust into them. They are absent of morals, integrity and ethical business practices. I can only hope that my rant is taken seriously before another decent person is taken advantage of as their only concern is sell, sell, sell at whatever the cost to us the Canadian Consumer. More
Found a used 1 tonne online with reasonably low kms and that suited what we were looking for on paper. Contacted Mainline GM, drove down on a Saturday to look at it. Truck was absolutely disgusting inside, that suited what we were looking for on paper. Contacted Mainline GM, drove down on a Saturday to look at it. Truck was absolutely disgusting inside, despite them stating that it had been detailed. (I shampooed it at home and it looked like a whole different truck). Filth could literally be scraped off of the seats. Upon test driving we noticed the engine light was on, otherwise seemed like fairly solid truck, but as a used truck you never really know. Asked to have them read the code before we made our decision and signed paperwork. They took the truck across to the dodge side and “read” the code and attempted to clear it. We were told it was a low voltage code from the truck needing to be boosted in the morning due to someone leaving the interior lights on, but didn’t show us a print out of it. After purchasing the truck we got 1 hour away before the engine light came back on, at this point the dealership was closed.Make the balance of the drive home and plugged our reader into the truck once we got there - came up as a turbo actuator read out. Took it to our nearest dealer the following day for a code read and print out, was told by them as well that it was indeed the turbo actuator and were likely lied to since it was a stored code. Confronted the dealership, who then said to drop it off and they would “take care of it” for us. I am grateful for a loner vehicle that they provided, even if it too was gross inside. Waited for quite a while for the truck to be completed as parts were on back order. Got the call that it was done and was told by the advisor that they had good news as “your lubrico warranty covered everything but a couple hundred dollars”. So on-top of them asking to pay a bill for an issue that the truck had presale that they did not disclose and tried to sweep under the rug, they used the warranty we paid for to pay for the repairs that the truck needed before it left the dealership and lied about to make the sale. We ended up not paying a bill, but are really disgusted about our experience. Drove the truck for 7 days after we picked it up and the transmission went. Regardless, we will not be returning to the dealership for anything. We understand it’s a used truck. We understand there may be issues within reason. Next time it will serve you a lot better if you tell people the truth and work towards a resolution, rather than lie and hope to get away with it. And maybe show people an actual detailed vehicle (truck had been on the lot for a month, plenty of time to give it a 30min shampoo) instead of a quick vacuum and dash wipe…would go a long way in showing professionalism and integrity in your dealership. Thanks to the finance guy for selling the extra lubrico warranty.. looks like we will use it a couple times, 7 days into actually getting to drive the truck. More
I’m disgusted with this place! The service started out amazing and went down hill from there. I was within my warranty limits, NO WARRANTY! I was promised I would be helped, I was NOT! I was told I wou amazing and went down hill from there. I was within my warranty limits, NO WARRANTY! I was promised I would be helped, I was NOT! I was told I would get a call back not only did that call back not come but she blamed someone else, no apology. My bill was 4014$. Not only will i never go back I would suggest if you buy a vehicle here to save your money on the “extended warranty”! You will pay out of pocket anyways. Thanks for the expensive lesson. After having my vehicle for over 2 weeks they couldn’t even find time to give it I quick clean. But they were able to leave an empty air freshener can on my floor. More
