We encountered an issue with the bluetooth system so I booked a first appointment. Please note that it is quite inconvenient for us to run with only one vehicle but made the arrangements to make it work. The mechanics ran a diagnostic and reset the system advising me that if it didn't fix the problem, they would replace the part for us. Unfortunately, the reset did not fix the issue so I called to make a second appointment. I dropped my truck off the night before and the service advisor (different than the one I've been talking to) called to advise of the cost of the diagnostic. I advised him that this step had been done and the part needed to be replaced. I am surprised, the notes in my file were not read before he called. At the end of the day, I received a call to inform me that the truck was ready to pick up and that the part was ordered, I was quite shocked as I thought that the issue would have been fixed at that time. I mentioned that this was quite inconvenient and the service advisor did not seem empathic to our situation. I was expecting an apology for the inconvenience while telling me your procedures for ordering that part. Once the part was in, I was called and made arrangement for a 3rd visit. The morning of the appointment, I sat in my truck outside the service door for 5-10 minutes and noticed that nothing was moving inside, I parked my truck and I decided to go inside to drop off my key as my spouse was waiting for me, we had to drop off our child and both drive to work. The lady at the service reception was less than courteous; I guess she noticed how unhappy I was and reacted in the same way. I am happy to report that I got my truck back that night and the after service reception lady was great. I need to test my phone connection for music in the truck again as it didn't seem to work quite right. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. More
Exceptional Service I was able to book an Oil change & service appointment for the following day. My wife and I drove our cars to Northstar Ford, after hours, to drop off I was able to book an Oil change & service appointment for the following day. My wife and I drove our cars to Northstar Ford, after hours, to drop off the vehicle to be serviced and drove home. We receive a phone call in the morning from Fiona to confirm the Work Order, and another one advising the vehicle is ready for pick-up. We pick the vehicle up at our convenience. Couldn't be easier. We have never had a bad experience at Northstar Ford. Kudos! More

Difficult to get an appointment I had to call several times and leave several messages to get someone to call me back. Once I arrived the service staff are clearly stressed. I was snapped at when I arrived- the lady did apologize shortly after but not a good start. Given the premium paid to get an oil change at this dealership, I'm not sure I'd be returning. More

Northstar stepped up to address concerns Prior to my review below going 'live' online, Northstar customer service reached out to better understand the situation (dealerrater.ca gives them tha Prior to my review below going 'live' online, Northstar customer service reached out to better understand the situation (dealerrater.ca gives them that opportunity). They explained that the spark plugs were due at 96K based on guidance from Ford, as the Calgary climate is considered under 'extreme' operating conditions. They looked into the coolant and transmission work, and agreed that those scopes were not necessary. Northstar refunded the cost of that work. Northstar also apologized for not diagnosing the oil leak when they first had the vehicle, and they are going to work with us to have it addressed. Although the initial service was not good, Northstar quickly worked to address the situation. I think they were fair and reasonable in their approach. We will continue to use Northstar for service. ______________________________________________________________________ Original post: My wife took our 2012 Ford Focus in for an oil change, and to have the brakes checked because they were squeaky. She asked for a service package that is most applicable to our vehicle and mileage (119K km). The service advisor suggested the "recommended" package for 100K km, which seemed reasonable. She trusted the service advisor for good advice, and unfortunately did not check the car manual for recommend service and timing. When we picked up the car the bill was over $800, and the brakes were fine. The "recommended" package included spark plug replacement at $200 (manual says 160K km), coolant flush at $200 (manual says 160K km), and a transmission flush at $250 (manual says at 240K km). Clearly what Northstar 'recommends" is not in line with what Ford recommends, even though Ford spent millions of dollars designing and engineering the vehicle. To top it off, the service technician noted a "heavy oil leak present from engine", however they didn't even try do diagnose it. We now have to book another appointment to have the leak checked, even though the car was already in the shop and on a lift. More
