Price gouging! Recently had an oil-change appointment for my TDI Passat with instructions to top-up the ad-blue (normally checked at oil service intervals) and check Recently had an oil-change appointment for my TDI Passat with instructions to top-up the ad-blue (normally checked at oil service intervals) and check the cabin filter. When I looked at the bill on my way out I noticed the reason the bill (including a cabin air filter) was over $300; it included $65 charge for labor refilling the ad-blue (on top of the charge for the fluid -- and subsequent standard charges for "shop materials.") When asked, service advisor Dan Weber said, "that's the standard charge - 1/2 hour." REALLY? It takes me about 7 to 10 minutes to run into the auto parts place, purchase a jug, fill it up, and throw away the container, so I can assume a trained mechanic can do it in even less time than little old me. When confronted with the question, the look I received from the service advisor said, "Oops, busted! I'll just tow the party line and tell him that's just how things are done." If it takes a mechanic 5 minutes to do an ad-blue fill, and they're paying him or her $50 per hour, they're actually making $730 profit per hour on ad-blue fills. Sound fair? Other than that the rest seemed in line, and I didn't have time to take advantage of the courtesy wash. Maybe it's a good thing -- they might have charged me another half-hour labour??? More

The test drives were great and Harsha provided just the right amount of information but didn't pressure me or attempt to sell me something I didn't want. Harsha also respected my time during pickup (the usual delivery employee, Ron, was running late) and got me on my way quickly (this was almost a direct replacement of my previous lease-return so I appreciated Harsha pragmatically agreeing (but not assuming) I didn't really need to see all the same features over again. Manou in Finance was also great to work with; she remembered us from before (this is our 3rd VW at Northland) and provided a pleasant personal touch during the financial part (which is usually where it gets less enjoyable!).
