He is friendly, knowledgeable and very professional; a true asset to the VW dealership. Darrel was able to answer any question we asked him; this is no small feat since my husband is a detail-oriented and very mechanical guy. It was absolutely a pleasure to meet and work with you, Darrel. Best of luck in your career at VW!! More
VW selling Tiguans with problems I bought a brand new VW Tiguan back in september 2015. The customer service was great; and the sales rep did a good job and gave me a good deal. Test I bought a brand new VW Tiguan back in september 2015. The customer service was great; and the sales rep did a good job and gave me a good deal. Test driving the car made me love it. I take good care of my cars like I did when we bought a brand new Honda Accord back in 2006 untill september 2017 when an accident happened and I had to let it go because of insurance. Otherwise I would have still been driving it after more than 10 years. When I bought the Tiguan, I told them that I wanted it long term and because of that I bought it with the premium warranty up to 120.000 Kms that covers any engine problem. I asked them.. any problem? They said... yes !!! Any problem don't worry. Good then! I thought. Due to my wife's work managing three offices, one in Edmonton, one in Red Deer and One in Calgary, she was driving the Tiguan and I remember her telling me that the car had a little hesitation (the car had only around 10.000Kms). She kept driving it constantly among those three citys, the check engine never got turn on. I just kept up the services by book with the oil changes. Until when the car had 59.000 Kms the engine hesitations got deeper and the check engine started flashing and then it fully turned on. I booked an appointment on line and brought it to service with the expectations of having a great service the same way a had it when I bought it. The Tiguan had the engine problem and tbe 12v outlets were not working. The guy who received my car did not have in his computer my service schedule so I had to show him my email confirmation for the appointment and he told me... next time I should book the appointment by telephone and I told him don't offer the booking on line then. Diagnosis, changing a spark plug and labour, not cover by the "premium warranty" that cost me more than 500 dollars. When I picked it the Tiguan, the next day again the checked engine turned on and the engine hesitation came back. I drove back to VW northland extremely upset without any appointment. I had to talk with the manager and made them have a rental car while the "really fix the car" again. When they called me to pick it up, the guy who argued about the booking by telephone and not online, offered me an engine cleaning to avoid carbon built just to prevent but nothing important but tha would cost another 500 dollars. So... no covered by the "premium warranty" of cours I declined that why would I? Specialy when the tiguan has less than 70.000 Kms. That experience was a week after may long weekend 2017. 2018 we booked an appointment at VW by Barlow because Northland was too bussy, fallowing up with the services by the book to keep the warranty. The car had no problems and to weeks later the same old problem with the engine hesitation. Now, folks, it is where it gets intetesting. The diagnosis and clean up the carbon built was going to be a total of 1.400 dollars. But it's an engine problem, the warranty should cover it. I had to talked with the manager and the only thing he said to me was.... he could give me a discount but nothing about the warranty. He just gave me the 1800 number to call VW Canada. My wife had to go back to VW Northland to try to understand why VW was not honouring the warranty. Folks pay attention to this. VW they know all the Tiguans have problems with carbon built up. They were surprised we were the only ones asking why, because anyone else just pay for the engine carbon built clean up. VW recomends to drive at least 90 Kms everytime you take it and drive on Sport mode to disipate the carbon built. If a knew the car was going to have that kind of problems I would not have bought it. I asked VW Canada the lady on the phone, if VW told you that you have to drive your Tiguan at least 90Kms every day and pay more that 1.000dollars every 30.000Kms to clean up the engine, would you buy it??? I would not buy it!!! The lady avoided and refused to answer my simple question. The first time when they "fixed it" I told them that I wanted to trade my car. They said... naah! Don't worry! We fixed it!!! Folks! At Northland VW they said... the problem is that they test the cars in Germany where the weather is nicer. But when I bought it, the sales guy with his good bs, says... VW knows we have a rough weather ther built not only Tiguans but all our cars with excellent endurance!!! Now just to finish, I want to say is that VW is lying to people about their Tiguans, and other models. If more people are having the same problem like us, let's join forces and make a big complaint about it. More
Not a Good 2 Experiences I have taken my 2017 Volkswagen to this location on two occasions and will never go back to this location again for service. The first time I was left I have taken my 2017 Volkswagen to this location on two occasions and will never go back to this location again for service. The first time I was left waiting 8 hours for an oil change service with no notification when it actually was finished (I had to contact the service department multiple times to find out that it was actually completed). The second service appointment was once again for an oil change and my vehicle was left with swirling light circular scratches on the hood as if a mechanic/employee had placed things on there. If I could sum up my experiences, Northland gives off the impression that they don't care about your vehicle which is one of the biggest investment of some people's lives, and that's the reason I will never get my vehicle serviced there again. Friendly and Trustworthy I received a very warm welcome from Scott Carlyon, he seemed genuine and experience. I have always been sceptical about mechanics and the fact that they love to charge you for things that are not in need of a fix. I did not receive this vibe at Northland at all, they knew what needed to be done and completed the task in record time. I trust them with my vehicle as much as I trust them with my wallet. Thanks Northland! More

Unfortunately we were living out East or it would be 5 for 5. From the very moment we walked in to Northland in 2005 and bought our first TDI, from Mike Mitten, and subsequent vehicles, the Sales Team, Financing, Delivery, to Service has exceeded the expectations. On our last purchase, we tried to stay local in Edmonton, and was told there was no deal to be had. We drove both vehicles (2 x Jetta) to Calgary and Northland, 24 hours later the deal was done. Sorry Edmonton VW dealership in the South end...that's a three car deal that you refused to do. You loss. When friends are asking where to look/shop/buy for their VW purchase we always direct to Northland. Thanks to all for repeating the great experience. More
Car buying made easy! This was my second new VW purchase from Northland Volkswagen, and the fourth VW purchase I've been a part of wherein I helped my significant other pur This was my second new VW purchase from Northland Volkswagen, and the fourth VW purchase I've been a part of wherein I helped my significant other purchase a car there, and a friend of the family. I worked with Matt Moro from start to finish to order myself a manual transmission Golf R with a custom paint colour, and the team was fantastic from start to finish. I knew it would be a wait - I ordered the 2018 model in mid-2017, and with the custom paint, I figured it would take some time, but the people at Northland Volkswagen made sure I had updates, reached out to me to see how I was doing, and to let me know whenever they had any new information about the whereabouts of the car. At no time did I feel like they forgot about me, and I always felt valued. Matt knew his stuff, as well, which is a big plus, and is a VW enthusiast himself, so I felt that much more comfortable buying a new Golf R as he had personal experience with the Golf family of cars. It was an easy transition from a Tiguan to a Golf, and the whole purchasing experience has been a breeze, from the first day I walked in to ask Matt to place the order from me. He didn't try to push a sale either, though of course, helping people get into a new car is his job, but I never felt any high-pressure sales tactics, which is refreshing. He read me well - I had done some homework, knew some details, and he filled in the gaps and let me make my own decision, which is exactly how I like to make big decisions like this. He's also a pleasure to be around, and I've already recommended him specifically to a few friends looking for new vehicles. The financing people are also top notch. Highly communicative, never leaving me wondering what stage things were at, offering me options to get the best rates, personable, and gave off the sense that they really cared about my experience, not just the end product of signing the deal. Jared, specifically, was the guy I spent the most time talking to in person, and he moved us through the paperwork quickly and accurately, and really made that portion of the experience easy and informative. At the stage of sitting in the finance office, most car dealerships will bust out the 'hard sell' to get you to get every manner of add-on, insurance insurance, and so forth. Jared laid out what services they offered, and I felt completely comfortable signing up for some of them, but not all, without any follow-up pressure, which was also nice from a dealership. This definitely wasn't the case ten years' before when I bought a different brand of new car at another dealership. Bonus points for Jared there. I also have to make a shout out to the parts and service staff. I've had to order a couple minor things for my Tiguan, and have been getting that serviced at Northland Volkswagen for four years, and they've always taken great care of me, making sure I knew what was happening and why particular service items were needed (or could be deferred safely) and they always got the car done when they said they would. I'm overwhelmingly happy with Matt, and Jared, who were the two I dealt with the most at Northland, and the whole team over there is awesome. I'd recommend them to anyone, and I've give more than 5/5 stars if that were metaphysically possible. More
