This was, without exaggeration, the worst car buying experience of my life. We paid a $1,500 deposit—far more than any other dealership required—and they refused to budge. The highest I ever paid for this was $400. After waiting four months for our C HR BEV, the car arrived with one out of three purchase agreement details wrong. The dealership admitted they botched the order. Their “solution” was to order a 2027 model and wait another eight months. When we asked for compensation for their mistake, they acted like they were doing us a favour by removing window tinting and tire protection—despite previously insisting tire protection was mandatory. They also refused to return our deposit. We even considered waiting for the 2027 model, but after such a major error, we had zero confidence they wouldn’t make another one. But the pricing was different, and it would cost $14k more for the same model for 2027. We could not afford this. Also, this would have left us without a car for nearly a year. With gas prices rising and no realistic alternative, we reluctantly took the vehicle. From that moment on, the pressure to finalize delivery was relentless. The sales manager was bossy, rude, and showed no concern for the stress their mistake caused. I’ve bought several cars in my lifetime, and this was by far the most predatory, high pressure, and emotionally draining experience I’ve ever had. They had one job—and somehow still managed to get it wrong. More
