While customers can indeed obtain a safety certificate from any licensed station for a private sale, a lease buyout is a little different. As the legal owner of the vehicle until the transaction is complete, we are responsible for the sale. To ensure a smooth and seamless process, and to make certain every standard is met, our policy is to manage the entire buyout in-house, including the safety inspection. It's clear we didn't do a good enough job explaining the "why" behind our policy, and we sincerely apologize that our communication led to you feeling pressured.
