I purchased a vehicle from Kingscross Hyundai at the end of May. Before purchasing, we exchanged text messages with the salesperson over several days. We specifically asked if there was any interior or exte of May. Before purchasing, we exchanged text messages with the salesperson over several days. We specifically asked if there was any interior or exterior wear, damage, or issues with the vehicle and were told there was none. We were also informed there was a stop-sale recall on the vehicle. We decided to proceed with the purchase, and while the vehicle sat on their lot for approximately three weeks waiting for the recall to be completed, we were assured it would be fully detailed inside and out before pickup. There were several marks on the seats that we specifically asked about. We were told they were simply dirt and that the vehicle would be spotless when we picked it up. After driving three hours to collect the vehicle, we arrived to find it had not been detailed at all. There were marks throughout the headliner, visible wear on the driver’s seat and steering wheel that was clearly wear and not dirt as we had been assured, and a small dent on the hood that had never been disclosed to us. Both running boards were also heavily oxidized, with paint flaking off in multiple areas. While this may be considered normal wear on a used vehicle, it is something that should have been disclosed when we specifically asked about the vehicle’s condition. To make matters worse, the dealership could not locate the second key when we arrived. We raised these concerns immediately. The salesperson largely agreed with everything we pointed out but offered no real explanation. We were told to take the vehicle home and that a solution would be worked out that would not inconvenience us. Several weeks later, there is still no second key and no meaningful resolution. The sales manager’s response has largely been that we purchased a used vehicle. While they are now willing to clean the vehicle and repair the seat, they expect us to drive three hours each way and leave the vehicle with them. That is a significant inconvenience for a family with jobs and children, especially considering the vehicle sat untouched on their lot for three weeks before delivery. The salesperson and I even came up with a simple solution: have the cleaning and seat repair completed locally in our city for approximately $400. The proposal required approval from the sales manager, but that is where communication stopped. To this day, we still have no second key and no resolution. My advice is to be very careful when making a deal with this dealership. In our experience, verbal promises and text message agreements did not carry much weight once the sale was completed. We understand that used vehicles may have imperfections, but our issue is not with the condition of the vehicle itself—it’s with the fact that the condition was misrepresented and the commitments made during the sale were not honored.
