I have a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle that I purchased at Comox Valley Volkwagen. It was one of the vehicles covered under the emmissions recall and it received the emmissions modification in 2018. It is covered u Valley Volkwagen. It was one of the vehicles covered under the emmissions recall and it received the emmissions modification in 2018. It is covered under warranty through Volkswagen Protection Plus and the extended emmissions warranty through Volkswagen Canada. The turbo went on August 4 and I had it towed to the dealership for service on August 6, 2024. The turbo part was sent to Volkswagen right away by the warranty company. After that the mechanics diagnosed other problems with the engine they decided that the wrong oil must have been used. My husband sent an oil sample to Cat Finning and proved that the correct oil was used. As we live a ferry ride and it is an 8 hour round trip we tried to stop in as often as possible to check on the status of the repairs and to see if a courtesy car might be available. On October 22, 2024 we stopped by to check on the status of the car as the Service Manager would not call me back although I had asked for a call back many times.. My husband tried to address the Service Manager for a status update but she walked away from him. My husband then went out into the lot and saw that my car was extremely fogged up and the passenger window was open. He went back into the service station and aked the parts clerk for the keys to open the car. She went looking for the Service Manager and he found the Service Manager, the Mechanic and the Service Clerk out by my car. At this point they had closed the window. My husband demanded that they unlock the car so that he could see inside. He found that it was full of water and that mould was growing on all of the cloth interior pieces of the car. The Service Manager asked the Mechanic who had left the window open and he said I'm sure it was not him but that the car had been in and out four times so it would it be hard to keep track. My husband took pictures and asked to speak to the General Manager. He was introduced to Jon Beekman as the owner of the company. My husband called me to tell me what had happened and I called to talk to the Service Manager. This was the first time I had ever spoken with her in relation to the status of my car repairs even though I had left many messages for a call back. I also called the Finance Manager to express my upset as I had been speaking with him to try to get a status of my car and he was willing to call me back. The problem with that is that he could never provide me with a status but said that he would have the Service Manager contacgt me but she never did. The Finance Managre also said that Jon Beekman was the owner and that he was talking to my husband right now. I have asked but have not been granted a courtesey car for even one day so far. We called ICBC today to file a claim for the mould problems and during that call we found out that Jon Beekman is not the owner but that the owner is in fact Jim Revenburg. I have been asking for the General Manager's name since September 5, 2024 when we realized that the Service Manager was ignoring us. My car has 82,000 km on it and is covered under extended vehicle breakdown protection and Volkswagen Canada's extended emmissions warranty. We have never been treated so poorly by a car dealership. I would never purchase a car or take a car for service to Comox Valley Volkswagen again. More
Another month - it seems - another new Volkswagen! This time, my first EV, their demo 2023 ID.4, in the top trim: AWD Pro S. These "SUV's" (more cars really) are absolute rockets, with 0 - 60 in under 6 seconds. Just try it up Ryan Rd. hill! Apparently, the new 2024's are even faster with about a 15% hp and torque increase resulting in sub-5 second 0 - 60 acceleration.. I have just had it 2 days and my only 'concern' is getting it charged when traveling highway distances and back home. Also, I have not installed a Level 2 charger in my home (yet), so the 12V (110) plug-in is very slow to charge it up (like, more than 2 days to a full charge, though you really stop at 80% for longevity). The VW dealer, here and in Nanaimo and Victoria, have 24-hr accessible chargers on their lots, and there may be many others up and down the Island that will work, but MOST older Tesla chargers will NOT unless you have an adapter, That should all change soon, with any public station handling all makes of EV's/. Anyway, nice car! I decided on a straight EV rather than Hybrid after careful consideration over many months because with a Hybrid you are actually maintaining 2 complete drive systems, with all the advantages AND disadvantages of both. NOW just waiting for the return of the VW Van in EV form, the 2025 ID Buzz ("bus", get it?) which should arrive in North America in long wheelbase form this Fall. For some reason, the camper is not crossing over to this side of the Atlantic, but who knows? Maybe soon... Ticking off the boxes below, I must add: the Service Dept. makes or breaks a dealership, and this Dealer has the BEST Service and Parts people in the Comox Valley (Alice, Mike L., Twila, Paula, and all the techs - I will mention Trevor as just one of the best of the great bunch). 12? 13? cars now in 16 years, from Jim Revenberg (here at VW, and before at Nissan), but who's counting??? Me again, same Dan from 2020 with a second 5-Star Review, this time for Sales as Eric M., and Business Manager Dave S., who sold my wife and I a new SUV today with the easiest and best experience that I have this time for Sales as Eric M., and Business Manager Dave S., who sold my wife and I a new SUV today with the easiest and best experience that I have ever had buying a vehicle. And I have bought 11 from this dealer alone in just the last 15 years, so I buy A LOT of vehicles, new and used. I see a couple of bad reviews (1-Star) on here still and that is unfortunate as I cannot imagine how that could occur. I know all the Staff here on a friendly, personal level and have never even once felt I was treated poorly or my needs not fully met. I will personally vouch for anyone at Comox Valley VW and the professional, honest, and respectful treatment that I have always received. My cell # is 250-650-1511 if you ever wish to call me to verify this, as I have no other association with this place other than as a customer - a very HAPPY customer. More
I had been searching for years to trade-in/upgrade my vehicle (a Volvo S40), visiting multiple dealerships in Vancouver, Nanaimo and Courtenay and interacting with approximately 50 different car salesmen vehicle (a Volvo S40), visiting multiple dealerships in Vancouver, Nanaimo and Courtenay and interacting with approximately 50 different car salesmen. It was horrible! I wasn’t in any rush but I was a serious buyer. Then I met Graham Hanson at CV Volkswagen, a pressure free salesman. Over the course of many months I changed my mind multiple times(!) from an Audi A3, S3, Q3, S5, finally deciding on an A5 S-drive package Sportback not in black or white with no accidents (an almost impossible find). He let me test drive the (very) comparable VW Arteon to make sure I liked the size / feel of the vehicle and the sportback trunk, then managed to source one from Ontario and have it shipped to Vancouver Island via freight, with no obligation to me other than a fully refundable deposit. Of course I loved the car, it’s everything that I asked for and more. Jon Beekman the Sales Manager was also very helpful with the search, Jim R. the Owner sourcing different auctions, Dave Schultz the Finance guy with the best interest rates and safe winter tires/rims once I was ready to purchase. It was a team effort that all came together. I also just finished my complimentary 3 month inspection, Mike Lauder in service was so helpful, even pre-booking my next oil change / service appointment and offering a rental car for the day if needed. Twila Spence called me the next day asking if my experience was 5 stars, it definitely was. THANK YOU COMOX VALLEY VW! Save your time and do not shop anywhere else. Even if they don’t have the vehicle on the lot, tell Graham to find it for you and trust me, he will! Also, free anytime unlimited cash washes – a perk no other dealership can beat! Since my last Review (5-Star) in 2020, I see a couple more Reviews on here that are 1-Star. I find that amazing, and disappointing. Even more, I cannot believe some aspects of the stories - especially th more Reviews on here that are 1-Star. I find that amazing, and disappointing. Even more, I cannot believe some aspects of the stories - especially the supposed behavior of Staff. I regularly deal with all the named persons in here, and have dealt with them for years. I simply do not believe what has been related about them: a "mixed" Review would be understandable since vehicles are a highly emotional matter for most, and purchases a major investment with repairs often expensive. That VW cars might have some faults is also expected as normal for any manufacturer. Perhaps also, customers are just a bit stressed lately with all the pandemic issues too. But I have never even seen the Staff even react FIRMLY to any customer, and I have spent hours and hours at this dealership. I have no connection, personal or otherwise, with CV VW, but anyone is welcome to contact me at any time to verify that this is an independent comment (Cell: 250-650-1511) because I feel strongly that this dealership is exceptional, and the service staff especially are well above average. Mike tells lies about his billing process. Prices vary from $60 to $140 for the same service. Then he tells more stories about how he thought it was something else. from $60 to $140 for the same service. Then he tells more stories about how he thought it was something else. More
So i bought a brand new 2019 8 speed automatic Volkswagen Jetta last year. Immediately there was an issue with radio volume fluctuating up and down, after five unsuccessful visits at the Kamloops dealerships Jetta last year. Immediately there was an issue with radio volume fluctuating up and down, after five unsuccessful visits at the Kamloops dealerships where I bought the car to find the problem I decided to just give up. Half a year later I moved back to my home town on Vancouver island. I decided to bring my frustrating issue to the dealership here to see if they could help me, the comox valley dealership in my home town told me after two more visits my radio was fine. Approximately 11 days later my radio cut out when I was driving, a message that said something on the lines of "Deck is overheating" appeared and then my screen went blank... I pressed the back of my index and middle finger up against the deck immediate recieving a 2nd degree burn. I contacted Volkswagen immediately after I arrived at my destination and we booked a appointment. Volkswagen told me now, my radio is faulty and needs to be replaced. I asked why it took 10,051km and 11 & 1/2 months for Volkswagen to admit there was an issue, they told me " my cars notification system's didn't report any errors" I replied "why didn't the mechanic use a OHMS meter and test my radio? They informed me that unless my radio says there's a problem in the notification center they can't diagnose the problem. Ok.... are you still with me? Please I hope you are! Here's where the nightmare begins!!! So Volkswagen told me because of the pandemic of course, I'd have to wait 4-5 weeks for my radio to come from Germany. I totally understood it could take longer so started my wait. Before I could take my keys and leave that day I had to now schedule a immediate appointment because guess what my thermostat on my brand new car hasn't been working for more than a few month and it's causing damage to my vehicle!! Of course Volkswagen can't explain why this is happening to my brand new 2019 Jetta but the part is ordered. So my thermostat is replaced the next week and I'm waiting for my radio and all of a sudden when I'm sitting at a red light or waiting to pull off of a yeild my car won't shift! When my foot presses the gas pedal there's no acceleration, the RPMs hit 8000rpm and my car sits idle. This isn't a everytime you touch the peddle problem either, its more like a pulling onto a highway in fast moving traffic problem, which can be pretty scary when you have oncoming traffic coming from 800meters away at 85km yet you still almost get in a accident because your automatic vehicle won't shift. So once again I'm back to Volkswagen........ Well the mechanic calls me and tells me he test drived my car in downtown courtney where the speed limits is 50km and couldn't produce the issue. So as I'm sure you're getting the gist of the story Volkswagen now refuses to find and fix that problem. Here I am again driving this Death Trap Lemon and my radio finally comes in, so I bring my car in on Saturday and they put my radio in and call me and tell my car is ready to be picked up, I go pick up my car and drive home, enjoy the rest of my weekend and head to work monday. Tuesday arrives and I find these tiny clips on my car mats, then I notice all of my bottom trim is hanging off my car, so I call Volkswagen asking why they didn't tell my they broke all of my bottom dash trim and why they didn't replace the trim as they told me they did, they responded begrudgingly that they only replaced my top trim and didn't replace the bottom trim and that they couldn't tell me exactly why they didn't tell me they broke all of my bottom trim, I asked in return out of curiosity and pure frustration why during a global pandemic did they leave latex hand prints, and greasy paper towel all over my dash every visit and not detail my car? They responded that Volkswagen canada doesn't detail the inside of your car during services and the mechanic should of left no trace he was there (which he didnt). Now I'm waiting a possible 4 plus weeks for new trim. So my new trim comes in and we get it put on my car and guess what, days later my new radio overheats again! So back to Volkswagen we go. They replace the radio again and return my car to me, 26 days later my radio overheats again!! So now Volkswagen orders a 4th radio from German telling me that they are ordering one with a internal fan. So my radio arrives and Volkswagen tells me that apparently the radio never had internal fans, and there's nothing they can do about it. About 2 months goes by and my radio of course overheats. So I go in for my appointment and I ask them after the oil change and service not to put another radio in as I'd like to get a second opinion.... (I apologize in advance for the language that they used) David Bui comes out of his office and immediately says, "you know what, take your f****** keys and piece of s*** car never come back" I ask: why are you getting so mad, I'm entitled to getting another opinion on my car, I don't understand why you're freaking out. The parts manager asks me, why are you even here Mason? I reply: because I have an oil change booked, and a service, and your supposed to be looking at my radio. He responds " look, we already replaced your radio 4 times, we're not working on it anymore, and if you want a 2nd opinion you're basically telling us we aren't doing our jobs and we're here to fix cars ok?" I respond: then why haven't you fixed mine!? The David Bui once again starts screaming at me to get the F- out and never come back again. More
Have now bought 3 cars: 1 new and 2 used from here! I have bought 9 vehicles in total from Jim Revenberg over the past 12 years, 6 from when he had Nissan (all new), and 3 from Volkswagen (1 new, 2 used I have bought 9 vehicles in total from Jim Revenberg over the past 12 years, 6 from when he had Nissan (all new), and 3 from Volkswagen (1 new, 2 used). First of all, the sales people and the sales and finance managers are all top notch. Then just as important, the technicians are the best in town. And parts is great as well. I am sorry to see the occasional bad experience reviewed (here) but things happen. That has certainly not been my experience, this time with salesman Eric Meilleur (that means "Best"), and he is. More
