Four visits to this dealership since October 2022 - my 2014 Sorrento has now been in the service bay at Milton KIA since Jan. 5, 2023 with no resolution. In October the car ran well, but after sitting overnight was completely dead. We were told that the key fobs needed new batteries, despite telling them that we had just changed the batteries. Boosted the car and took it out again. The next day, same problem. Had it towed to KIA in Milton, they told me it needed a new battery. $300 later the same thing happened again. Had it towed to KIA Milton again, this time, after taking two weeks to come to any conclusion, we were told it was an electrical switch under the driver seat, and they replaced it. Drove it home, stopped for gas, but after leaving it parked the same thing happened again - no power at all. Had it towed to KIA Milton on January 5, 2023 and it has been there ever since. They told me various things about why they hadn't fixed it, including, twice, telling me they were having "a guy" come in to look at it. Spoke with Tony who told me they may have to do a parasitic/paralitic diagnostic to determine the problem. On January 30, 2023 I called Grant and he told me they are still working on it, that the car had been "pulled apart" and that I wouldn't recognize it if I saw it! I never got any call backs during this time, I had to contact them for updates. Approximately four weeks ago, Grant Belanger, who was our main contact, called my son-in-law, who has been chasing them as well, to advise that they had drained the battery and damaged the starter; they would replace the battery and ordered a new starter. The following week we were advised they had ordered the wrong starter and the correct one should be in within a week or so. On March 1, 2023 I called KIA and spoke with John, who promised to find out what was happening and get back to me. He told me to deal with him going forward and he promised to keep me updated. He called me back to advise that the alternator was the problem and that they had ordered a new one (we had the alternator replaced not long ago). I told him that Grant had said it was the starter they had ordered, but he insisted it was the alternator, that it wasn't holding a charge. John called me on March 2, 2023 to advise the alternator was not in the morning or afternoon shipment, would be in the following day. On March 3, 2023 John called to advise that the problem was not the alternator! He basically told me that they had no idea what the problem is, but they are working on it "constantly". Today is March 7, 2023 and I have had no further calls from John, Grant, or anyone at KIA to advise what is happening with my vehicle. At no time during this ongoing situation was I advised of any potential costs or asked permission to proceed with any of the work. I am absolutely stressed by this whole situation. I cannot understand why they are unable to locate the problem. As KIA mechanics, they should know their vehicles inside out, there shouldn't be any mystery situations. I had initially asked for a loaner while they did repairs, but was told they didn't have one. Since that time, no-one has offered a loaner, or to arrange a rental for me at their expense. I need my vehicle.
