Failure to properly repair fault - Tom

In the fall I was on vacation near Timmins when my Toyota Sienna failed. It was towed to James Toyota for repairs and they were advised as to what the trouble was and what the repair was needed . The Alternator was intermittently failing and caused the battery to fail. On picking up the vehicle they only replaced the battery and claimed no fault was evident on the alternator. On returning to my city the next morning I had the vehicle fail to start and had it towed to Toyota dealer which identified the alternator as defective and replaced same under warranty. On contacting James Toyota and requesting refund of the labour portion of the bill as the repair was NOT completed I was refused.

We've purchased a few vehicles from Paul Griffith. And every experience has bin above and beyond our expectations. Today I stoped to see if I could get a service on our pickup we recently purchased. An the service department went out if they're way to fit me in during the snow storm. The service was done efficiently and with care. Cleaned the inside as well. I totally recommend either sales or service as well as the parts department. From being greeted by Renee to Paul making sure I was satisfied with the pickup itself and my service. 100 percent satisfaction on every detail of this dealership. Sincerely Joe Mclean

5 star ratings to the staff I encountered to get my driver side rearview mirror replace, Went a week driving without that mirror which was dangerous and out of sync with my driving skills. But, my wife is in long term care in Winchester and I travel there 5 days a week to be with her, so I chose the "I will drive anyway" tactic. Kinda dumb...Anyway went to JK because that is where I bought my care 15 years ago, and have had it serviced on multiple occasions. Met with Denise (I think that was her name) at the booking desk. After explaining my situation, she contacted an assessor, Jonathon, I think his name was, and he immediately took me out to my car determined the exact needs to fix the mirror assembly and back inside to order the parts. 5 days later, my appt was completed in just over 1 hr, and Craig in service looked after me extremely well. Every one I was in contact with for this repair was: competent; courteous; knowledgeable; understanding and comforting. (not because I am 81 years old but because it was obvious that they respond like this to all customers. I am very, very impressed. And what a difference in driving a sideview mirror makes!!! Spring Slap in rear of vehicle - stromdwayne

Service is terrible and they refuse to warranty my trucks that they installed a lift in, they also dented my truck several times in one visit. they expect me to live with a spring slap clunk in the rear of the truck even tough it is new, and should have warranty. They originally told me that they sell several trucks with lifts and that it will not effect the warranty but not they refuse to fix the clunk now and say they are not responsible to do anything for me!!!

On our way to Kincardine, we had car problems on a Friday at 12pm. They could not promise to look at our vehicle but would try. It was a very upsetting day but the shop managed to look at our car and fix it. We ended up killing time by test driving a Trax. Then we spent time with Bernie on what it would take to get a new one. I told him we were honorable people and if decided to buy we would make the 2 hour drive to buy from them since they helped us. We are in the process of buying from them. A great team there. Thank you.

J J Stewart’s screwed up and cost me over $1000! - Rosesare

Attention anyone in the Norwood area please be aware if changing your tires at JJ Stewart Motors. Their mess up cost me $1047.97 and they are refusing to take any responsibility or reimburse me. I got my 2016 Jeep renegades winter tires changed on April 16 2019. At the time I had to replace 6 lug nuts due to “swelling”. Two days later I was driving around and my tire was making an awful noise. Mind you I had stopped previously to check the bolts but I had difficulty fitting the torque wrench on them and the ones I did manage to get on seemed tight without being able to move the wrench. When I went to check the bolts again after the noise one of my lug nuts snapped right off when I touched it with the wrench. I immediately phoned my dad who spoke to Joe at J J Stewart’s who said that the bolts had been taken out a number of times and sometimes they just snap. With no help from JJ’s and being approximately 300kms away the night before a holiday weekend I turned to Southbank Dodge who immediately looked at the vehicle. I handed the broken bolt to the service guy and he said it looked like it had been over torqued due to the ridges on the bolt. A service manager took over my case. All the other tires were checked to make sure the nuts weren’t just going to break as well and I was told every nut was swollen including the 6 I had just replaced. Because of the bolt snapped off inside I had to replace the entire hub as well as all 20 lug nuts. During this process I called J J Stewart’s again. They again tried to pass it off saying because I didn’t go to them after 200 kms to have the wheels checked that they weren’t responsible. Being an adult woman in the 21 Century I know how to tighten a wheel bolt and I can guarantee not every customer goes back to the garage to have their wheels tightened. I also told the person I spoke to that the bolts were too tight not too loose making that a moot point. I left a message for the service manager but did not receive a call back. This week after picking up the Jeep I again contacted J J Stewarts and sent them a copy of the invoice. I didn’t even get a call back from a manager but instead the original guy, Joe, my father had spoke to on April 18. tried to tell me it was my fault because I did not go to them after 200 kms. He then processed to manaplain to me about lug nuts and while he didn’t want “talk bad” about another dealership said that I had got taken for a ride. After not accepting that answer I finally got to speak with a service manager, Al, who again tried mansplain to me about how lug nuts swelled and that it was impossible for the ones they replace to have swollen in two days and that the dealership “saw me coming” I have in writing on the bill that the bolts were not torqued to spec and was told multiple times by the service manager I delt with at Southbank dodge that it was an error on the part of J J Stewart’s. J J Stewart’s has refused to speak to the service manager at Southbank Dodge despite his willingness to speak to them. I am attaching a picture of the bill as myself or Southbank have nothing to hide. As it stands I am out over $1000 not to mention the safety issue of having a bolt just snap while driving around in Ottawa traffic. J J Stewart’s does not back up or support their work or take responsibility for this screw up. I grew up in Norwood, my family has been having work done at this dealership for years and this loyalty means nothing. I felt talked down to and personally that as a woman I was not being taken seriously. I gave J J Stewart’s the opportunity to make this right and they have flat out refused to pay a cent.

The staff is very nice and accommodating. They gave my wife and I a ride home, while the vehicle was being serviced. They also called us promptly after our vehicle was ready and arranged for return travel back to the dealership.

Money grab and a pompous staff for sure as stated in the comments. If you are not knowledgeable about vehicles they will take advantage. This dealership preys on people who don't know better and are trusting them to be honest. This dealership had me leaving and returning with new problems each time I came in for service or an oil change for the last 4 years. Coincidence or bad luck until the last 2 oil changes were both leaking due to sloppy work . The last oil change was performed 1 day before leaving on a trip to northern Ontario leaving me stranded in Sturgeon Falls ON - no oil in vehicle. Vehicle had to be towed from Sturgeon Falls to Sudbury where it was discovered that the oil filter was cracked - either already damaged or cracked while changing the filter. Either way this was the second time and difficult to believe it was a one off being the second time in a row. John Bear did not want to be accountable and laid blame on GM for defective filter. John Bear also insisted that the engine light that remains on since the oil leak was completely unrelated to the drive from Hamilton to Sturgeon Falls without any oil left in my vehicle ??? I now realize that much of the service that I had done on the vehicle was likely unnecessary - such as spending over $1200 including a discount to have all the lines changed under vehicle 3 months earlier which did not resolve clunking issue. Clucking was in fact due to loose bolts underneath after returning with the same complaint - they didn't see this during the inspection and decided the line needed replacing ??? I was then charged to have the bolts tightened - nice. They said I must have have had work done somewhere else because they never touched the bolts ??? The positive comments on this site can only be made by knowledgeable customers that the dealership is unable to rip off. This is the 3rd vehicle purchase through John Bear - that's what you get for being a loyal customer. Hope this helps someone.

Wish I could give zero stars. Took our vehicle in for a simple sensor replacement and brought it home without the sensor replaced and with $2000 worth of damages to our SCR. They spent over 2 hours attempting to remove the sensor as it seized, instead of calling us to let us know what was going on, and the potential for damages, they ripped out the sensor and cracked the SCR. We then got a phone call informing us that a simple sensor replacement was now costing us $2500. We understand that sensors seize sometimes and that damages can happen, however had Johnston Chrysler done their due diligence to call us and let us know what the situation was we would have immediately told them to stop. Instead we were only given that option after the damages had been done. We paid $370 for a diagnostic fee and their labour to break our vehicle. No remorse, no apology, just a dry uncaring customer service staff. We will never let them touch another vehicle . We drove it off the lot and will be taking it to a competent mechanic with better customer service.

We bought a used 2009 Chrysler Sebring from JP Motors It came with a one month 1,500km bumper to bumper warranty. The air conditioner didn't work and it was fixed quickly and efficiently. Service was punctual and friendly. I would definitely deal with these guys again.

Can't be trusted. I got them to do some brake work when the car needed a recall, for convieniance. They made a mess of the installation which my mechanic needed to clean up. They also insisted I had to replace e-brake cables, which would have been costly. They just needed an adjustment. I will only go back to them for recalls and warrenty work, but even then would be nervous about them touching my car.

I called to book a recall service appointment for my Mach-E. The service technician informed me that they only service the electric vehicles they sold and directed me to another dealer. He stated, with apparent animosity, that since Barheaven Ford claims to be the first electric dealer, I should take my car there. I don't care about the competition between dealers. I bought a Ford, and any Ford dealership should service it. As someone who works at an OEM, I'm deeply disgusted by the way this dealership treats its clients. Ford makes great cars and trucks, but this dealer should not be representing them. By the way, I called Barheaven Ford, and they booked me in in 5 minutes.

Went in for simple lock issue. Was told if they broke part while fixing it would be my fault and I would be forced to pay for the replacement. I brought up that this is bad service and the employee, Ian, verbally abused me, locked the service doors to prevent me from leaving and told me to never bring my vehicle back in for service. As well the employee came to service my car without a mask on. I would not suggest buying a car from here or servicing your vehicle after this awful experience.
