My parked Lexus was damaged by a dealership employee - MAKSYM

My parked Lexus was damaged by a dealership employee while it was in a clearly designated MPI customer parking space beside the building shared by MPI and the dealership. The employee struck it while exiting the nearby service garage. The service manager then told me the dealership would take care of the repair. Filing a claim through MPI was not discussed, and I relied on the dealership’s assurance that it would accept responsibility and repair the damage properly. The rear bumper was painted twice. After the first attempt, there was a major colour mismatch and visible workmanship issues, including debris or imperfections under the paint, white paint on surrounding black plastic and inside the wheel-arch area, and poor finishing around edges and seams. I photographed the defects and complained. A second repaint improved the right side, which now matches reasonably well, but the left side still looks noticeably different from the adjacent panel during a normal inspection. This was not noticed only by me. Automotive professionals inspected the vehicle, and another automotive group confirmed in writing that the bumper did not match the vehicle and that blending the adjacent quarter panels might be needed to achieve a closer match. They also provided an estimated range for corrective work. I understand that Lexus tri-stage pearl paint is difficult to match and that plastic and metal may reflect light differently. However, that does not explain why the right side of the same bumper now matches much more closely while the left side does not. The previously repainted front bumper also matches the vehicle without the same visible difference or blending into adjacent panels. I later inspected the vehicle together with dealership ownership, and the colour difference on the left side was visible in person. At the owner’s request, I then drove from Brandon to Winnipeg for another professional assessment—more than 500 kilometres round trip, plus my time and fuel—and obtained the requested estimate. Because the matter had already consumed considerable time and caused unnecessary stress, I offered to resolve it using the lowest amount within the corrective-repair estimate. After I completed the trip and provided the assessment, the owner refused to contribute toward any further correction, saying he had already paid for the repair and considered the result acceptable. That does not resolve the problem. Paying for unsuccessful repair attempts does not restore my vehicle or remove the visible mismatch. The dealership controlled the repair after its employee caused the damage. Its inability to obtain a proper result should not become my financial loss. The owner should not unilaterally decide that the repair is acceptable simply because the dealership does not want to spend more money. It is my vehicle, the mismatch remains visible, and both the right side of the same bumper and the repainted front bumper show that a substantially closer match is possible. Based on this experience, I would not rely on verbal assurances from this business. I followed the dealership’s process, completed the steps requested by ownership, travelled to Winnipeg at my own expense, and provided the assessment, only to be told afterward that no further correction would be funded. I have photographs and written correspondence documenting the defects and the sequence of events. This review reflects the situation today. If the dealership resolves the matter or the circumstances materially change, I will update it.

Every aspect of this dealership is great. - Devon Turner

Every aspect of this dealership is great. From the sales department to the service department, everyone I’ve dealt with has been extremely helpful and honest. When purchasing a vehicle they made the process easy and were very transparent with all of the details. When dealing with the service department, they have never tried to upsell anything on me which is a breath of fresh air from other dealerships I have dealt with. I would recommend Beausejour GM to anyone alienating to purchase a vehicle.

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received - manjotmalhi123

I am extremely disappointed with the service I received at Jim Gauthier Chevrolet in Winnipeg.. I brought my 2018 Chevrolet Cruze RS in for a check engine light diagnosis. I was told Cylinder 3 was misfiring and that the injector and spark plugs needed replacement. I paid approximately $1,800 for those repairs. Within two hours of picking up my vehicle, the check engine light came back on. When I returned, I was told Cylinder 1 was now misfiring and another injector needed replacement. More money was spent — yet the problem still remained unresolved. After multiple visits and nearly $3,000 in total repairs, I was essentially told by the service manager rich that they could not determine the root cause of the issue. Instead of properly diagnosing the vehicle, it felt like parts were being replaced one after another without clear confirmation that they were actually defective. This resulted in significant financial loss and unnecessary stress. This is not my first negative experience at this dealership. On a previous visit for a simple tire puncture, I was advised that my brake pads needed replacement — despite the fact that I had replaced them just one week prior. I contacted the service manager, Rich Roux, via email regarding that incident, but never received a response. During this most recent situation, I also reached out to management again and received no meaningful follow-up. Spending thousands of dollars without a proper resolution, combined with a lack of accountability or communication from management, is unacceptable. Especially during Winnipeg’s extreme winter conditions, being left without reliable answers adds even more frustration. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this dealership. Customers deserve accurate diagnostics, honest recommendations, and responsive management — none of which I experienced here.

I recommend avoiding Murray Chevrolet in Winnipeg, as my - mralbertnhcn

I recommend avoiding Murray Chevrolet in Winnipeg, as my experience attempting to recover my deposit after finding a better vehicle elsewhere was extremely negative. I have learned that signing a deposit agreement may result in the deposit being non-refundable. On Monday, the staff were unavailable and indicated that I would need to wait until the afternoon. With several hours before my family needed to return home, we visited other dealerships and discovered a truck with better mileage and a newer model year. The finance and management representatives from Murray contacted me and were persistent, repeatedly asking, “Why did you do this? Explain to me why?” I explained that I had found a better deal and that no staff were available that morning to assist. Ultimately, they refused to refund the $500 deposit because I had chosen another vehicle.

I was hoping to get an understanding service team to help - shfranz

I was hoping to get an understanding service team to help me with my paint peeling on my front bumper, the service adviser was very helpful, however the service manager displayed a totally different attitude. He was brash and brushed off my concern to say, this was caused by a stone chip. I asked how he new this. He replied, because we see this all the time. He said it needs to get painted to which I asked if I was responsible. His reply was, absolutely. Very disappointed.
