The prices have gone way up in the last year. - Kevin
The prices have gone way up in the last year. When I questioned this I was told that they raised their prices to be inline with Mercedes and BMW. Considering they are servicing Toyota engines, not fussy German built vehicles, I find this a gouge. Another thing, if you edit the service, such as; I don't need a $65 cabin air filter, or $100 engine air filter when those can be changed in 2 minutes by a customer. They give you grief and treat you poorly. The other gouge is the automatically tacked on $27 on your bill for washer fluid and fuel injector cleaner.
I went in for just an oil change, and these charges were tacked on the bill. Washer fluid was empty and they didn't like being questioned by a customer. This is a charge that is meant to pad every bill, raising about $150k per year for the service department and the service managers bonus...
Do yourself a favour and have it removed from your bill at the beginning of the service.
Plus at Lexus, every 2nd service is just a "Visual Inspection" for $300. NO oil change, or maintenance takes place, it's just a "look over". If you don't bring it in for this, they make a big deal of it until you let them know you are onto their game.
By the way, Toyota will service your Lexus for much cheaper...
I've also read (but haven't confirmed) that the service records are dealership specific, meaning they don't show up on a CARFAX. So when you go to sell your car at a different dealership, it looks like you've never had dealership maintenance.
