4-star is on the “Dealership”. Moustafa is a 5-star product advisor/sales rep.
Special shout-out to Moustafa Hanafy who was the key to my overall positive experience at Lexus of Calgary, and who worked above and beyond in getting my car delivered.)
Ratings for the other componets of the dealerships:
Finances and after market products: 3/5 (It felt like I was being squeezed rather than served.)
Parts Department: 3/5 (Rather disappointing for seemingly minimal knowledge of after-market wheel options and for recommending the wrong engine oil for oil change)
Service Department: Undecided, as the car has not needed servicing at the dealership so far. But at least the one service advisor I met was very helpful.
Context: My last Lexus purchase experience was over 25 years ago in St Catherines, ON. But for 20 years in Calgary, I have been driving two BMWs (between my wife and myself with no children). Going back to Lexus for a retirement car felt like a stretch; thankfully, Moustafa quickly understood my driving preferences and my perspective on car ownership. As it turned out, the new car was still wearing summer rubber on the snowy delivery day in November. Moustafa made me feel confident about it all and kept the delivery uneventful, which was all that I asked for.
For the propective shopper of a Lexus vehicle, especially one with a healthy dose of skepticism towards modern cars and car dealerships, you’ll have no problem in selecting a suitable model and trim. But be aware that it could be bit of a battle when dealing with people who come after the product advisor - still very much a buyer beware process before delivery day.
