We have purchased two vehicles from Woodgrove Chrysler. We traded the first for the one we have now, purchased new in 2019. It is a perfectly fine vehicle, besides both key fobs dying within the first year We traded the first for the one we have now, purchased new in 2019. It is a perfectly fine vehicle, besides both key fobs dying within the first year, now we just manually unlock the vehicle. No biggie. Yesterday, May 9, 2022, I get a call from a sales person looking for used vehicles to buy, and wants us to trade ours in for something newer. Unfortunately, she made many false promises and empty guarantees about being able to wave an income check, (as I was upfront and told her we are moving provinces in the next month and do not have jobs, just substantial savings, and rather poor credit that we are working hard to rebuild), no mention of a credit check being required just asked if I knew my score, and promised again that this was a guaranteed approval, just may not be for a super high amount, but would be absolutely no problem. She even confirmed with her financial director that they would absolutely for sure be able to wave this income verification step. So we agreed to give it a go. Almost 24 hours later, I get a ding on my credit score for a credit inquiry, so I reach out as ask how it's going as I haven't heard back and usually sales people are relentless. She tells me turns out she was wrong, and was not able to wave the income check, but then asks for my partners information to try on his name. Initially, I gave it, but after discussing we decided to say no and asked for our information to be wiped from their system and no further contact made, we had been down this road with Canada Drives and two other dealerships who made the same empty guarantees and false promises of everything being easy and peachy keen. She immediately calls me, and then when I don't answer, hoping she gets the point, sends me a text about knowing what it's like to have credit issues, and assures me yet again that their "finance director is one of the best in the industry" and he's working hard to get this done, we just have to try other avenues first. She swears that they are in no way leading us on or trying to pull our strings but are genuinely working to "fix our situation" and to reduce our cost of driving. Which funny enough was never the point. We did not reach out to her, she contacted us. We are perfectly comfortable in our "situation", and have taken steps to improve ourselves as we go. We found it quite insulting and disrespectful that she made it sound like they were doing us a favor, as if we should be grateful for them coming to our rescue to "fix" everything when it was her who made first contact, not us. She must have forgot that it was she herself who wanted our vehicle, and it was her who offered to purchase it, it was her who guaranteed no income verification, and it was her that promised we would easily get into something else for sure. She promised to get a preapproval, and then we'd have our pick of vehicles from there based on the price point of approval. I advised again we were not interested and recommended that using the phrasing of it being no problem and guaranteeing there will be no need for income verification, that they can absolutely bypass that and work around it, should be avoided if they cannot in fact do what was promised. Setting realistic expectations, and all that. I got a single thumbs up emoji in reply. I sent my concerns to the general manager of the dealership in hopes coaching can be provided to the sales team, so other customers aren't put in the same boat. I understand that their sole job is to land the sale, and that sales persons have a stereotype of being deceitful. But I have enough hope in people that they can do and be better than their stereotypes, Adrienne is not above everyone else nor is she exempt from the standards to which they are held. Unfortunately, as of right now, I cannot in good conscience recommend the sales person, Adrienne, however, the dealership itself should not suffer due to one persons actions, as their general manager and other staff are kind, truthful, and helpful. ***UPDATE: Blaine Roque, the general manager of the dealership, called to discuss the situation and what happened. After speaking with him I can confidently change my rating to a more positive one, as the experience of talking with him, and his genuine and honest response and apology, was so refreshing and positive it greatly overshadowed the less than stellar previous experience. Thank you, Blaine! We appreciate you! More
