Came to the dealer for an oil change, and to locate and repair a rattle. While checking for the rattle, an oil leak was noticed. I, thinking that only the two things I had brought the car in for would not take long to repair, had made no arrangements for transport around town for other errands. As I live out of town, I like to combine errands when in the city. The service adviser was able to procure a car for me (all the loaners were out), and the repair was effected as soon as the part required was delivered. The leak turned out to be a seal in a complex area, and this was under warranty. As the technician was able to access the shield that was causing the rattle while accessing the seal, I was spared the cost of labour. How could I not rate the service department as high as possible? I was able to attend to the other business I had in town, returned to the dealership to pick up my car in a very reasonable time frame, and was met with a bill that was much lower than I was anticipating! I am always impressed with the ability of the service department to accept and complete the tasks I need done. They accomidate my often unscheduled visits and do so with friendly recognition. I had a leak in the power steering rack of my 2010 Honda Civic and it was six weeks after the expiration of my warranty. To fix my car would have been about $2000.00. My car had less than 45,000 Km it and Civic and it was six weeks after the expiration of my warranty. To fix my car would have been about $2000.00. My car had less than 45,000 Km it and the power train was suppose to have been good for 100,000 km. Honda West recommended that I call Honda Canada and ask that they pay for the repairs under Honda's Good Will Clause. I called Honda Canada and stated my case. In a couple of days Honda Canada got back to me saying that they would only pay for the parts. That left me with aa bill of about $1000.00. I was not happy with this. I wrote a two page letter and emailed it to my Customer Service Representative at Honda Canada, Joshua Comrie. I asked him to forward my complaint letter to the President of Honda Canada. I also emailed the letter to the service center at Honda West. My letter included such concerns as only six weeks over warrantyl expiration, under 45,000 km, I would have got it fixed sooner but I was hospitalized, out of province, with an extremely rare auto-immune disease called Churg-Strauss, I was on medical leasve due to this disease, I could not afford to pay to have my car fixed, and it left me scrambling to get to my many weekly doctors appointments. I also stated that I had been very happy with Honda and the two Honda Civics that I have owned and have told many people so. I was planning on buying another Honda when I finished paying off my current Honda. If Honda Canada did not reconsider and pay for the full amount of the repairs and labour for my car, I would not be buying another Honda. My opinion and attitude toward Honda would be very negative if Honda did not rectify this situation. I would also be telling other people my story and that Honda does not take care of their customers. On the day I took my Honda Civic in to Honda West to get fixed I told my story to Jonathan Pinter, a service representative at Honda West. He listened attentively and was very supportive. At the end of the day, when my car was fixed, Jonathan called me and said that there had been some new developments. Honda Canada had contacted him and told him that they would pay for the total amount of the parts and labour. I was extremely please with this turnabout decision. It restored my faith in Honda. I will be be buying another Honda at Honda West. I will also be recommending Honda to others and singing their praises about customer service and satisfaction. More

The service folks at Honda West seem friendly. The last visit for an oil change, about 3 months ago, they indicated that the battery test failed, and that I would need a new one. Being an easy thing to che visit for an oil change, about 3 months ago, they indicated that the battery test failed, and that I would need a new one. Being an easy thing to check out else where, I decided to have it checked at Canadian tire. Turns out the battery was fine, so I did not replace it. This visit they indicated that they performed a battery test again (on the same battery), and that the battery was fine (which I already knew). There are always 2 or 3 items that cost about $200 - $300 each to fix, that they recommend in addition to required service. I have, twice now found out that recomendation they made was for something that wasn't needed, or the diagnosis wasn't completed at all. It is dissapointing, and if I do get another Honda, it will be from another dealership. More
