They found a car they thought I would be interested in and contacted me right away. The car arrived there on Friday and they delivered it to my home Monday afternoon. I've been a customer for 24 years and have always had the best sales and service experiences there vs other dealerships and brands. They are priced more competitively on their used toyotas than other Toyota dealerships in the area as well. Thanks to Derek, Justin, Marty, Liz and Aaron... More
Misleading Ad for used vehicle - DO NOT TRUST THEM! Went to see a FJ Cruiser they had listed. Ad stated "excellent condition", clean and "dealer maintained". I even contacted the dealership before I went to confirm. They had the vehicle listed about 4,000 higher than similar vehicles but the fact it was dealer maintained and in such "great shape" made me choose to drive over 100 KM to see it. What a waste of time. The vehicle was a rust bucket. The engine compartment was a mess. Everything was rusted out and fell apart to the touch. The battery warning light stayed on for the whole test drive. There was a large dent in the roof and it was also rusted. Roof rack was bent from a collision. Steering wheel shook at 100 KMPH. Gas door was rusted, rusted door jams and the list goes on...... When I went back in the discuss it with the sales person he just shrugged his shoulders and said "I don't make the decisions around here." I tried to continue the conversation but he was obviously not interested in earning my business. End result I left with a pocket full of cash and would not give them my business in the future if they were the last dealer on earth. More
Misleading I went to Vandermeer Toyota to inquire on a used Scion TC. I had two friends with me in order to protect myself from potential xx. Little did they kno I went to Vandermeer Toyota to inquire on a used Scion TC. I had two friends with me in order to protect myself from potential xx. Little did they know that my first friend is a Defence Counsel for Belairdirect, Wawanesa, TD Insurance, Intact, and Allstate to name a few. My second friend was a General Manager at Kia Motors. Upon arrival everything was normal. I was greeted by Mike (I can't remember which one, there were two "Mikes" in the dealership) and was shown the Scion TC which was in the showroom. Without giving me much time to inspect the car he left to "get the paperwork ready for a test drive". However before he rushed off I told him to pop open the hood which he did. Good thing do because what I saw was unacceptable. Rust everywhere in the engine bay and caked in gunk. He called the rust "normal" due to moisture and being outside and that all they cars are like that. Listen, if your cars are allowed to rust then you are failing to take car of your inventory. My 2002 Civic for 15 years have little to no rust in the engine. Maintenance, you noob. Also, if you are going to put a car in a showroom you better be xxxx sure it's spotless. And if you are trying to impress a customer with it, at least grab a few bottles of WD-40 and clean that thing. After Mike came back he took the car to the lot and took my license. Mind you this was all going within the span of a couple minutes and I knew he was rushing me to the test drive. So I told my friends to swiftly inspect the car top to bottom and we found more rust at the exhaust system. It was not even a full minute before Mike came back and we went for the test drive. Negotiation: This is where it got REALLY messed up. I went to Mike's office with my Defence Counsel friend. My second friend said he would station himself at the other end of the hall to watch Mike when he eventually has to "talk to the manager". To summarise the negotiation, my friend was shocked at how unreasonable the dealer was. The car was caked with rust and gunk at the engine bay (you know, the important stuff) and rusted at the exhaust. On top of that, the car is over 50,000km and was being sold at $18,000.00 with no room to negotiate. However, before my appointment they sold a similar TC with 21,000km for about $14,000. He reasoned that it was "not in good shape unlike this 50,000km version". I told him not to bring up condition of the vehicle since I never even saw it. I did inquire what he believe made so "not in good shape" and he said mismatched paint job. Are you joking? I can get a car dipped with new paint for less than $2000 and it still would not come close to what they are asking for. THIS is when he said that he would speak to his manager. He left to "speak to his manager" and my counsel friend advised that the dealer does not have any idea what he's doing and does not know the value of the vehicle and that it is a transparent over-valuation. After a few minutes he came back and said that his manager agreed that the TC is in better condition than the one they sold a couple days before. I told him that the asking price is still unreasonable and we parted. This is when my second friend (the Kia Motors General Manager) informed me that he followed Mike to the "Manager" and all he saw was him literally around the corner near the washrooms and stood there on his phone and with another dealer talking. The Manager's Office was dark and in fact there was no manager in the facility at that time. So take my story what you will but I'm glad I did not buy that vehicle from these fools. I ended up getting a Brand New 2016 Scion Tc at Scarborough Toyota for the same rate that there guys were offering. And guess what? At the time of this review, that same blue 2015 Scion TC is STILL unsold on Autotraders. HA! More
Avoid this Dealership! I never write review like this but feel like I need to warn others about this cheap and rude dealership. This dealership's cars are very overpriced. I I never write review like this but feel like I need to warn others about this cheap and rude dealership. This dealership's cars are very overpriced. I was looking for a used Highlander and the cars were at least 10% higher than nearby dealerships. The car salesman was also very rude - he was on his phone the whole time! Barely paying any attention to us. Very difficult car dealership to work with, there was no negotiation room. I generally found the staff to be very unhelpful and unprofessional! Can't believe Toyota allows a dealership like this to operate. I purchased a SUV from a nearby dealership, which was an absolute pleasure to work with. Based on other reviews, I'm glad I didn't buy a car from Vandermeer Toyota. Looks like they also aren't very reputable when it comes to servicing cars! There are far too many good dealerships that promote fair pricing and good customer service. Stay away from Vandermeer Toyota! More

I dealt with Michael Boot, the sales person, and he was knowledgeable, sincere, and in no way pushy. He answered all my questions and followed up in a timely and professional fashion. The sales manager Derek was equally personable, and made me feel genuinely important and a valued customer. I have nothing but positive comments about this experience, and I would highly recommend this dealership to anyone who is considering purchasing at Toyota. In our present day, it is difficult to find people of this calibre who obviously treat their customers fairly and with such courtesy. Keep up the great work! More
Awful Experience, Caution to Future Car Buyers I bought a car from the dealership and shortly after doing so the car periodically stopped turning on. I brought it in and the dealer said nothing was I bought a car from the dealership and shortly after doing so the car periodically stopped turning on. I brought it in and the dealer said nothing was wrong and that I should buy a separate charger in case this happened again. That was their solution for a $50,000 under warranty car. The problem continued to get worse so I brought it in again and they again said nothing was wrong and refused to help me. I should also mention that both times I brought it in, the employees were extremely rude. It was a very unpleasant experience. I ended up taking it to another dealership and they immediately recognized the battery needed to be replaced and did so. This dealership has awful customer service and rips off their customers. I've heard from other friends that this dealership has tried to rip them off too. They either don't know how to service cars or were too cheap to replace a battery. I'll never go back and have told everyone I know to do the same. More
Don't bother if you own a hybrid Brought my hybrid vehicle in twice for service, several other times for oil changes and winter/summer tire change. There was something loose and ratt Brought my hybrid vehicle in twice for service, several other times for oil changes and winter/summer tire change. There was something loose and rattling on the interior, something just needed to be tightened, but I couldn't figure it out, the advice from Vandermeer: turn the volume up on the radio. Recently, brought the vehicle in as there was a loud, dull sound coming from the engine. Was told from the mechanic that they couldn't do a proper diagnostic since it's a hybrid and they couldn't figure out how to get the engine to run while up on the hoist (get a guy on a ladder to push the gas peddle?!). Was told to wait until the noise got louder for them to figure it out. One month later, when it sounds like the engine is about to fall out, I brought the vehicle back on a Friday, early afternoon, with hopes someone could check it out. I explained I relied on my vehicle for my job and if they couldn't look at it by end of day Saturday, to please call as I'd take it back or make arrangements for a rental. No phone call or follow up, and when I went to pick up the vehicle on Saturday, clearly it hadn't moved from where I parked it. I brought the car in to Toyota on the Park in the city, diagnostic took 45 minutes, water pump was shot and they were able to run a proper diagnostic even though it was a hybrid, amazing! It's obvious Vandermeer lacks the customer service that is synonymous with Toyota as a brand, and suffers from the typical small town attitude of not really being bothered and inability to think outside the box. Save your money and a lot of frustration by going to another dealership. More
