Inspection report came back and car was purchase as a private sale for a 17 year old boy. Re-inpected car once I got it home and found that the air filter was not even installed and even if it had been it was completely plugged off and would not have allowed any air through. Suppect car had been driven without air filter for who knows how long as engine is burning oil as seen by the cloud of smoke behind it. Had this simple check been noted in the inspection I would not have purchased this vehicle. Do not trust this dealer for inpections as this particular "mechanic" who did this inspection is a complete LIAR. At least the service manager was decently in refunding the cost of the inspection but offered nothing else. More

Got the bill of sale and couldnt figure out why an extra $5000 was added to the invoice. Asked the salesman to itemize the invoice as the numbers didn't add up! He said he wasn't near a computer to do this request, wanted to do it over the phone. Waited all day for this to happen after several phone calls, he didn't respond until after I told him that I was cancelling the sale! Went to Landmark Mazda and bought the same car for the listed price, and $5000 CHEAPER!!! Do NOT take your business here, I will tell everyone I know about this slimy dealership !!! More
Labor Quote Overcharge I phoned the dealership to get a quote on a damaged undercover replaced, they told me the part would be about $80, labor cost should be $44.00. Later that afternoon when I brought my car in for the repair, they barely 10 minutes to look at my car and charged MORE THAN TWICE the of what they quote. More

Contin I went into Sundance Mazda to view and subsequently purchase a used Ford F-150 Raptor. For those readers pressed for time, skip to the summary. Continue reading for a detailed review. Sam was my salesman initially. We took the Raptor for a test drive and then Sam and I crunched out some workable figures on the truck and on my trade in. I made it known at that time that the driver side heated seat was not functioning at all. He assured me that this problem will be made known to the manager and wasn’t at all pushy or persuasive when I told him I wanted to think about it overnight. Riaz then took over the deal in Sam’s absence the next day and we were able to come to an agreement on a trade-in value and truck price as well as a “2-way LCD remote starter” that I had chosen from a display board. I’ll discuss this later. Then “the shop guy” Terry came out to try to convince me that the malfunctioning heated seat was actually working and that it was just me and/or the weather that made it seem like it wasn’t working. I then explained to Terry that I am an inspector and I’d driven 6 Ford Raptors in the last 2 weeks and this was a problem with 3 of them. A simple google search of “Ford Raptor heated seat problem” reveals forum upon forum of F-150 owners with this common problem. He then hummed and hawed about how he could take it to Ford because apparently, Sundance Mazda’s service department couldn’t be disturbed to look at it and they may not have parts which would take weeks… Virtually every excuse he could muster. I asked, “can you book it in and have it checked out because there is something problematic there and have the remote starter installed on the same day so I’m only without a vehicle for 1 day?”, “Ya, ok ok” responded Terry. I was accurate in believing that this would never get done. Also, it is worth noting that it’s now been over a week after purchase of the Raptor and the seat warmers DO NOT WORK! The finance portion of this experience was even worse. Christine took all of my applicable information and it took a week to get a response from her which seemed unusually long but I gave her the benefit of the doubt, knowing that we were both at the mercy of the bank. I went in, finally, to pick up the truck after approval of finance only to discover that my term of finance had been preselected by Christine without my approval to a 7 year/84 months term. I would have to go through the credit application process all over again to change this to a 5 year term. She then said my bi-weekly payment would be $299, then $399, then $340, then $209… at one point she turned to me and asked what figure she had just given me. I don’t know Christine, apart from that being your job to remember, you’ve just given me 4 figures, none of them accurate. The finance model in the computer was so butchered at this point, Richard “the manager” had to be called in to check her math. After the dust settled, a bi-weekly figure (none of the above by the way) was attained plus extra warranty was added as per my request. However, it was not explained until after I had signed for the extended warranty that a $50 deductible would have to be paid upon use of said warranty if I go through Sundance Mazda and a $100 deductible for a Ford dealership (I think). I still don’t know what precisely I paid over $4000 for. I guess I’ll have to re-read that brochure again. I called Sundance Mazda to book the installation of my remote starter and they got me in the very next day. This would have been a sign of better things ahead had they installed the model that I had chosen when signing. I chose the ‘top of the line’ by their standards for $595 at cost price with the LCD screen showing the vehicle on or off, locked or unlocked. They installed an inferior remote starter system that beeps and flashes; not the “2-way LCD remote starter” with the screen that I agreed upon and showed them on their display when signing the purchase agreement. Also known as a “bait and switch” and by reading other online reviews, Sundance Mazda is no stranger to this practice. Upon receiving my vehicle at the end of that day, I was told by “the manager” Richard that the dealership quoted him a month to get my heated seats fixed. I told him that when I called my local Ford dealership, they quoted me 2 weeks. He then proceeded to tell me, “see, it’s better if you do it on your own. Because I’m from another dealership, it will take me longer.” It’s ok if this doesn’t make sense to you, the reader, because it doesn’t. At Sundance Mazda, you can expect them to cut corners to make a sale. Once you sign the purchase agreement, you’re no longer a customer; they treat you like a number and a stupid one at that. In Summary: The sales associates were friendly and helpful. My only discrepancy was that I was not forewarned about the $498 administration fee. I would question the financing department’s credentials if I was told that Christine operated at a high school mathematics level. Apart from the permanently sour-faced receptionist who wouldn’t bother to smile, greet, or address me on four separate occasions as I walked in, every time you go in the management and finance are always chatting it up in the back room. Probably laughing about selling me a truck with defective seat warmers, then telling me to get it fixed on my own (time) and they have a service department attached to the sales building. Going against the purchase agreement and installing an inferior, less expensive remote starter as if I wouldn’t notice it was not the model I had picked, I was forced to deal with Sundance because Ford F-150 Raptors have been discontinued, thus, hard to find. I’ve dealt with Honda dealerships and the Volvo dealership in Edmonton and received excellent customer service. Sundance Mazda is like a roadside taco stand in comparison. Take your business elsewhere and save yourself the headache. Pay a little bit more elsewhere if you have to; you won’t regret it. Sundance Mazda. Customer service is poor. Customer satisfaction is OBSOLETE! More
I brought my wife's CX7 in for a recall which required flashing of the computer, but her real concern was the operation of the automatic headlights. The headlights came on too early causing dimming of th flashing of the computer, but her real concern was the operation of the automatic headlights. The headlights came on too early causing dimming of the display during the day. A Mazda discussion form on the internet identified this as a common problem and the sesitivity could adjusted by the dealer with 2 minutes of programming. I also wanted a rear strut on the hatch repaired, I had damaged it on a extreamly cold day when I pulled up on it. After booking an appointment I was told it would be a couple of hours. Five hours later they told me they did the recall but the headlights and strut were normal? I then explained the car is kept in a heated garage and the strut no longer lifted the gate. I questioned the service manager and he brought in the mechanic which repeated the story. I left the store feeling I had wasted 6 hours of my life. The next day Sundance sent me an email asking me if everything was OK and to call if it was not. I called the service manager and left a message, he did not return my call. I then called his boss and left a message requesting a call back and I never heard back. I completed the Mazda survey on my experience and was contacted by Mazda Canada. I replaced the strut myself for $78.00 and ten minutes of my time. (after all this was my fault). I then took the car to Autoworld Mazda in Leduc and asked about the headlight adjustment. They rolled the car in and out in 5 minutes problem fixed. More
I was promised that issues with car would be dealt with before I picked it up, and they were inexpensive issues to them, and after driving away I realized they were not dealt with. when I asked about the before I picked it up, and they were inexpensive issues to them, and after driving away I realized they were not dealt with. when I asked about the problem I was refered to the bill of sale which did not state anything about dealing with them. The salesman was the one who pointed them out and said he would make sure they were taken care of. He will lie to get the sale and his word is worthless as he doesnt care once you have signed. Also, the vehicle wouldnt start on the fourth day of owning it because the battery was dead. when I called about that i was immediately told to call the warranty company to see if they cover that before i bring the vehicle in. I found out that the amvic report i was shown and signed was expired and that explains all the issues i had. their used department could care less about the customers they are ripping off. they let vehicles sit on the lot for months and sell them without giving them a second look before handing them over. they care nothing about their credibility or safety of their customers. they didnt even check the tire pressure as all were grossly low upon picking the vehicle up.i had to buy new battery myself and then fight them for compensation which was only partial for the reason that they figured i bought a more expensive battery than was neccessary when i bought the cheapest one part source offers for the vehicle. everyone in the used vehicle sales have no morals or ethics and only care about the almighty dollar that goes in their pocket, and management is not excluded in that statement. i will never deal with them again, they are as shady as they come and my salesman was quite the piece of work. Mazda charged us $2,800 for a repair. We picked up the car and later that day the check engine light came on. Took it back to the dealership and found out they missed picking up a problem. Now they want t car and later that day the check engine light came on. Took it back to the dealership and found out they missed picking up a problem. Now they want to charge for another "scope" at $175 and do another repair for $2,200. If I had known this was a $5,000 repair from the start I would not have done it. Now they screwed my ability to make choices. They are incompetent. DO NOT GET YOUR CAR SERVICED at SUNDANCE MAZDA. More

Concluding that the Mazda 3 sedan was the one that Learn from my experience... Two years ago my wife and I decided that it was time for a new car. Concluding that the Mazda 3 sedan was the one that we wanted I set out to canvas all of Alberta for the best possible deal. I had 3 dealerships in Edmonton (Jarman Mazda, Weber Mazda & Sundance Mazda) that all matched the best price. Now the question was. Which salesperson worked the hardest for us and that we felt most confident in. It was a tie between the one at Weber Mazda and Sundance Mazda. We decided, based on its location being only 5 minutes away from our house that the salesperson (Sadru) at Sundance Mazda was to get the sale. Now the saga begins. Sundance Mazda Sales Department: Strike One, Two & Three. Once the paperwork was completed, I went to give Sadru the cheque for the car. Sadru stopped at this point and said that he had to check something. He re-assessed his paperwork and looked at me saying “Wooooops” I made a mistake. I quoted you on a standard transmission rather than the automatic transmission so the car would be $1,000.00 more. My first choice of reaction was to (well I’m sure you can guess). My second choice was to void my cheque, stand up shake his hand and state to him that his “Wooooops” just cost the dealership the sale and for him the commission. I decide that the second was a better choice. I exited Sundance Mazda and drove over to Weber Mazda where I bought the car. Sundance Mazda Service Department: Strike One. I tried using Weber Mazda’s service for my car but found that the distance having to travel was just a little too inconvenient. Depending on the time of day it could take up to an hour to get there. So I decided, being only 5 minutes from my house, to give Sundance Mazda Service a try. I booked the car in at Sundance Mazda for an oil change and wind noise coming from the windows at highway speeds. The oil change was completed without incident. The wind noise was something else. After replacing window gaskets (twice) and even my windshield (twice) the problem was still there. Apparently all of the Mazda 3’s that I road or drove shared this same characteristic. Very annoying at highway speeds. I was not able to test drive the Mazda 3 at highway speeds when I bought the car. Lesson learned. The problem still exists. The service manager (Jeremy Mah) gave up and basically told me to live with it. Sundance Mazda Service Department: Strike Two. Day One: The front end of the car was making a dry accordion noise every time I hit a bump or went over a speed bump (small or large) so I brought it into the Sundance Mazda Service. They replaced the Front sway bar bushings and called me saying it was repaired and tested. I picked it up only to find that the noise was still there. Just as bad if not worse. Day Two: I brought the car back into Sundance Mazda Service where it was confirmed that the noise was still there. They then replaced the front sway bar bushings and front shock mount bushings and rubber mounts. They called me up and confirmed that all was tested and repaired. I picked up the car and sure enough, NOPE, the noise was still there and worse than ever. Day Three: I brought the car back into Sundance Mazda Service where it was confirmed that the noise was still there. (Bored Yet?) I took the shop technician out with me to confirm the noise. He was shocked. This time they replaced both front lower control arms. They called me up and confirmed that all was tested and repaired. (I heard that before). I picked up the car and was pleasantly surprised that “yes” they finally figured it out and the noise was gone...For now...Read on. It gets better. Sundance Mazda Service Department: Strike Three. Wed.Oct.27/2010. My passenger side wiper arm stopped working so I took it over to Sundance Mazda Service. I was close to the 24,000km service mark so the car was also booked in for that. And sure enough that nasty annoying from end noise was back. So I booked that repair as well. I stated to the service advisor to please check the repair history and have the technician go right to the front lower control arms rather than me going through another three day ordeal. Surprisingly they listened and all was repaired...Or so I thought... I picked the car up the following morning, it was dark and frosty at the time and my car is black. I drove the ten blocks home where it was parked it in my driveway. It sat all day Thursday and all day Friday. Friday evening, it was dark; we took the car out on the highway to visit relatives in Stony Plain. Delighted at the smooth ride we were complementing the Sundance Mazda Service Department. We were even telling our relatives just how delighted we were...UNTIL THE BOMB FELL...It was pointed out that there was a good size paint smudge on the upper passenger side bumper just below the head light and a smudge on the passenger side head light assembly as well. You could imagine the words that followed. Sundance Mazda Service department is only open Mon to Fri and at the time that the damage was discovered it was too late to bring the car in. It had to wait until Monday morning. I have two security cameras on the front of my home with night vision capability pointed directly at all of my vehicles so I checked my recordings from the time I brought the car home to the time I first moved it and confirmed that there is absolutely no way that the damage was caused while it was at home. It could only have happened while in the care of Sundance Mazda Service. Mon. Nov.01/2010: I brought the car into Sundance Mazda Service to point out the damage. The service advisor Charles Tam took down the info and then asked me something that just didn’t sound right. He asked me....”How do I know it happened hear”...This might be a legitimate question to ask but the manner in which it was asked and without even looking at the damage I took offense to the question. Charles and I then went out to my car to assess the damage. While doing so it was discovered that the entire passenger side of the car had been badly scratched and parts of the driver’s side as well. “Shocked and outraged I was”. Charles then confirmed that Sundance Mazda Service had my car washed and that the damaged was most likely caused by the wash brush. So the car was left to have it power polished. Thinking that would repair everything. WRONG. I picked the car up that evening only to read on the work order that the main damage to the head light and the bumper were not caused by the car wash brush therefore Sundance Mazda Service is not accountable for it. The rest of the car was power polished and about 80 to 85 percent of the scratches have been removed. There is still 15 to 20 percent of then left on the car. I went in to inform Charles of this and once again responsibility was denied. They assumed responsibility “only” for what they could repair. Seeing that there was to be no satisfactory level of resolve in this mater I got into my car and left. Upon breaking for a red light I noticed that the driver’s side seat had voluntarily moved forward. A little surprised I tested it by breaking for the next red light and sure enough it moved forward again on its own. This was new I thought. Once I entered my neighborhood I was driving in the snow ruts which at times move the car from side to side. It was through this motion that I heard my driver seat clunking back and forth as my body and car moved side to side. After parking it I confirmed that the driver’s seat track and seat had both been damaged. Almost as if some disgruntled employee, after getting in trouble for damaging the car in the first place, had entered the car, grabbed the front seat adjuster bar and reefed the seat backwards with as much force as possible. Without question doing this a few times in order to achieve the level of damage that there was. You could just imagine my thoughts then. Having absolutely no confidence in Sundance Mazda’s Service department I then choose to bring the car to Weber Mazda for a more pleasant repair. This was not to be. I called Weber Mazda’s service department prior to bringing it in to see if there would be any problems in fixing the driver’s seat. I also asked that the front end be re-aligned because Sundance Mazda failed to do that when they replaced the front lower control arms the last time. I was told not to worry and that they would repair all at no charge. Sooo. Off to Weber Mazda I went. After doing up the work order at Weber I waited while the repairs were being made. The service advisor approached me once all was complete and told me that the alignment was done yet they could find nothing wrong with the driver’s side seat. Surprised, I then requested that the shop foreman come out to the car with me so I could show him exactly what was what. It didn’t take long for the foremen to see what I was talking about and it was then that the foremen stated that he would order in parts to repair it. So I left. When I received the call that the parts were in I scheduled an appointment for repair. After it was done I returned the car home and parked it for a few days. Not hearing any noises or feeling any loose seat track on the drive home (It was straight smooth freeway). Thinking that all was good I put this experience behind me. I received a call from Weber Mazda asking me how the car was. I was happy, at that time, to report that all was good. I spoke to soon. The next day I took the car out and sure enough the seat started knocking again. Before booking an appointment with Weber Mazda I decided to drive all the way over there to have the foreman look at it and to have him order a new seat. Apparently they only replaced the seat track the last time. The foreman was at a course so I had a tech (Glen) come out to assess the seat. I was concluded that there was still in fact a knocking yet he was not in the position to order more parts. So we left it at that and the service manager was to call me the next business day. A work order was created and a call from the service manger was expected……No call from service manager…I’m not surprised. The work order was created on (Feb.22/11. Today is May 22/11 and still no call. I just received a notice about a recall on my car. It was to replace the power steering component and lines. All I could think was once this is done. Just how many times will I have to bring it back for other stuff? Not wanting any more grief I stepped up my search for a new vehicle and on Sat Mar.05/11 I found one. I am happy to say that I am no longer and will never again be a Mazda owner……….. More
