Devious dealership- not honest I usually do not write reviews unless somebody went over and beyond. I felt I need to write my 2 cents where this dealership was concerned. Very unpro I usually do not write reviews unless somebody went over and beyond. I felt I need to write my 2 cents where this dealership was concerned. Very unprofessional. I had booked an appointment to get a used car inspected when on the eve of the inspection the owner sent an email saying it was sold. The owner was naming a price $$$$ take it or leave giving one days notice. no inspection nothing. I got the feeling that he did not want the car to be inspected. Please do your due diligence if you are dealing with this dealership. The car was very much overpriced and had been sitting in the lot for almost 5 years with less than 1000 miles. More

The salesman was very helpful as he showed me a variety of cars in my price range that seemed like good candidates as my next vehicle. The service guy was also a good cat as he was pleasant and patient. However, a couple months later my car would stutter and stall and not start at seemingly random times, leaving me stranded. Sometimes it would drive fine and sometimes it would stall 3 or 4 times in a 100 km drive, often from a dead stop in the middle of an intersection. I had it towed back to Stratford Subaru (at my expense of $275 as you need a flat bed tow truck for an all wheel drive vehicle) I asked Stratford Subaru to pay for my tow as I had the car for a very short time and it was already acting up, but they said "No, sorry. " The tow truck driver (who was also a veteran body guy) also showed me that the car had been in an accident at some point as the rear passenger door, rear quarter panel and who knows what else has been replaced as the paint shimmered in a noticeably different way and the transparent stone-guard was missing from that side, but not the other (aftermarket panel) The car had a clean Car-Facts report so I assumed it was all original. Anyways, 21 DAYS later I got my car back and it was covered under a major parts warranty so that's the upside to the story. It was a faulty fuel pump. I tried to contact the owner in this time to see if I was a priority since it was taking such a long time and I had a 100km/day commute to work, but was unable to speak with him. Too busy I suppose. This annoyed me. With that being said I love my Subaru and it has kept me safe through some hellish winters. It has not given me trouble since this incident, however i now service it myself when possible or at a trusted local Toyota dealer. The initial salesman was helpful (i'll assume he didn't know about the prior repairs to the panels) and the service desk guy was great, otherwise I did not like my experience with this dealership. The car was not even 2 years old and I was told I needed brake work (new rotors) I got the work done because I trust a business to be honest. Well a year later I am told I need new brakes..I refused their kind offer because now I wasn't so sure about the honest part of this dealer. So fast forward 6 months, my car is now 3 yrs old and the warranty is off so I take it to a small auto shop that I KNOW is trustworthy. I ask them to do an oil change and to check the brakes. I told them I was told it needed new brakes 6 months ago so I will probably have to get them done. I go pick up my car and am told " nothing wrong with your brakes they are fine, you have a lot of brake left." Grrr... do they look at me, a single female, and think sucker?? Is that also why I am told my service will take 1 hr and I am still sitting there 4 hrs later. I always buy new cars every 3-4 yrs and I like Subaru but b/c of this dealer I will never buy again and I will not buy at their mazda dealership either..same reason!! More
Overpriced Garbage I needed a second car and have been looking for Subaru's as I have owned 3 in the past. As the local dealership to me has very low used stock I came across this dealership through Autocatch.com. They seemed to have a large selection. When i first arrived on site I met "Todd" our used car dealer of the day... I proceeded to introduce myself, and explain my situation. "I'm looking for a second car, I would like a standard if possible, and I'm looking to spend around $10,000." He immediately seemed completely put out, and started to ramble off that 10K will barely get you into Subaru, and proceeded to point out three or four very high priced/high mile vehicles. Now i realize Subaru's hold their value, but 10K-12K for a 10 year old car with 229,000 kms is completely out to lunch. He was not interested in selling me a used car, and frankly the attitude was not necessary. He tried to get me to take a car i was not interested in for a test drive... I stick my head in the drivers side and notice the car is on empty (fuel light on), and there is a huge tear in the drivers seat. Nope. I ended up test driving one vehicle I was interested in, but again very high miles for the price. I just wasn't interested after that point.... I'm not sure if "Todd" realizes he sells Subaru's... not Ferrari's. But hey... I'm sure the Pompous xxxxx thing works for him. All in all this dealership deals in a lot of high priced garbage in my opinion... cars that even side street dealers wouldn't touch. I would rather buy my next car from a hobo, then have to deal with this bunch of sand lot merchants. More
I walked into the dealership and I was promptly greeted by a salesman named Ivan. I told him I was interested in a 2014 White Subaru Forester Touring Package . He quickly located one on the parking lot so I took it for a 15 minute test drive. I knew this was the vehicle I wanted to buy after driving it. I sat down with Ivan who was very knowledgeable and professional and I wanted to make a deal. I found Ivan to be very sincere and caring about all my needs. He wasn't pushy like most salesmen. The transaction of buying my vehicle went very smoothly with Ivan and his manager. Within an half hour we had come to an agreement and I was very satisfied . I am now the proud owner of a Subaru Forester. I would highly recommend this vehicle and the dealership to all my friends and family. More

I took the car in for an oil change and it cost about $100, which is $40 more than another local shop in Stratford, but I wanted to deal with our local dealer. I took the car in for the second oil change and said to the service manager, I would like to book the car in for an oil change. When we went to pick up the car, they gave us an invoice for $396. I asked how that was possible since I only asked for an oil change? They said that they went ahead and did the full 20,000km service which included changing the air filter, servicing the brakes, and rotating tires (which had only been on for a couple months as we had snow tires on all winter, which they put on). I told them I wasn't alright with this, because I didn't ask them to do anything but an oil change on the vehicle, they can't just go ahead and do $396 worth of work without asking me first. I asked the service manager to talk to the owner to see what he would do about this as the service manager professionally admitted that he should have asked before going ahead and doing all this work. I received a call from the service manager saying that the owner said, because all the work that was done is recommended by Subaru, they can't do anything about it, and I am responsible for the invoice. The owner said that he would give me a free oil change next time, which does absolutely nothing for me right now, and I am still left with a $396 bill and know that I will never go back to Stratford Subaru again because that "free" oil change may just cost me $300 Through this whole process, the office staff was rude, and very difficult to deal with. I have never dealt with any dealership that would treat people like this, or do work without customer consent, then try to hold the customer liable even though they admitted that they should have asked before doing all this work. Overall I am very disappointed with this experience at Stratford Subaru, and will never go there again. More
