I bought my car from this dealership in 2018 and have been bringing it here for service since. In May 2025 I brought it in for an oil change and inspection. When I picked it up they said they didn’t have the inspection printed but would email it to me. I never received it. I phoned and emailed the service centre several times throughout June until eventually someone was able to send it to me. It turned out the inspection discovered my oil pan was cracked, and I was due for several other regular maintenance services (tire rotation, etc). I got this work done in July. I thought it would get done within the same day and wasn’t told until I dropped it off that they’d need it at least 2 days, which was frustrating, but fine. Late August my check engine light came on and I brought my car to a different shop, as I was frustrated with the service I received from St. James in the spring. My turbocharger has failed, which will cost thousands of dollars. Upon doing a quick google search I learned this is a common issue and VW dealerships often offer discounts due to the frequency they happen. I immediately phoned the St. James service department, asking if they’d be able to offer such a discount. The person I spoke to said they’d leave my message for the manager so they could get back to me. This was around 4pm on a Tuesday. Around noon on Wednesday I hadn’t heard back, so I gave them another call and spoke to someone else who suggested I just make an appointment for Friday, which was helpful. I dropped off the car Thursday night, and still had not heard back from the manager. On Friday I got a voicemail at 3:30pm that said they had emailed me my quote and I should call them back to let them know if I wanted to proceed with replacing the turbocharger. I checked my email, and I did not receive this quote. I phoned back at 4:00pm and was sent to voicemail. I left a voicemail explaining I hadn’t gotten the quote, though maybe it was because they had the wrong email address. I spelled my email address for them on the voicemail, and again explained I hope they are offering a discount, as many VW dealerships in Canada do for this particular fix on my particular make and model of car. It is now Sunday. I have not gotten a call back, and I have not received the quote, though I did get an email thanking me for bringing in my vehicle and asking to come again soon (so I suppose they do have the correct address!). They still have my vehicle. I trust the work they do on vehicles is good work, though the communication at this service shop is extremely frustrating. I do not recommend bringing your vehicle to this shop. They need to do a much better job. More
Service was great until I paid for the vehicle. Worst service I have ever encountered after that. I bought my vehicle there with the promise that certain parts would be repaired. Not only did it take three tries just to have a license plate bracket installed. The bracket and other parts I had to call about myself finding out the parts had been there for weeks each time. I emailed the senior manager about my experience and received an apologetic email in return. Explaining he would be talking to the team to improve services. Well, it happened again. I got helped right after the email but the part ordered was broken. I just found out, July 2nd, that the part has been in since May 26th. This is pathetic. I will never deal with this dealership again and would suggest no one else does either. More
The winter is retreating so I booked an appointment to exchange my winter tires for new all season radials. I booked online with Joe Yetman and he made all the arrangements. A early arrival teamed me with Krista McCullough who provided a good plan as well as some alternative arrangements. We quickly came to the best solution with the least cost. A Uber ride home and back was arranged and when my Passat was ready to roll, Brandon Vail, the service manager answered all my questions about the storage of my winter tires and several other other details. I am so impressed with the professional conduct that was shown and the way my , sometimes simple questions were patiently answered. St James Volkswagen has been my choice to do all work on my Passat since I bought it in 2014. They keep it in Top Shape. More
Brian Zhang was very knowledgeable about the Acura MDX we were thinking of purchasing. Brian was friendly, courteous and professional. The worst dealership I have ever been to. Going forward I will actively caution people away from this dealership. When given the suv to take for a 24 hour test drive it was actually unsafetied - all tires needed to be replaced - I was unaware of course when i left the dealership and drove my small children around. Either way I let it go, no one got hurt and people make mistakes. When it came to purchasing they of course say a price then it's different on paper - again, let it go I know that's part of purchasing a car. I was charged for nitrogen 100$ - a fee "they couldn't possibly remove" a week later my car tires were low, again whatever, I got them filled at a place closer to home. Now my AC doesn't work - I'm guessing never worked because by the time I tried it out it had been 2 months of owning the car. I called to see if they could use the extended warranty I bought, but waive the deductible because it likely didn't work when I bought it in the winter. I was told no by the salesman who sold it to me (Kirby). When I asked to speak to the used sale manager to explain the situation I was never called back, called again, not called back, left a message, never called back. Also, no one except a sales person will pick up the phone there - and a manager is always "busy". All this to say once they have the sale they don't care at all or even have the courtesy to be decent. They really live up to what you expect from a sleazy car dealership. Never ever go there! More

I just want to say that I had a very positive experience with the dealership. Without Mariana's professional help and going above and beyond her job, I would not have the truck that I have now.
