My experience with Sherwood Park Toyota has been HORRIBLE. My husband & I were repeatedly lied to, gaslit or ignored when we pointed out the lies, & often did not receive info that we asked for. We gave management several opportunities to make things right, but they refused, so I am posting this review. The following is reconstructed from emails/texts that I have saved (& a few in-person meetings/phone calls): On May 5, having been on a wait list at another dealership for 10 months, I contacted SPT for a quote/wait time estimate for a RAV4 Hybrid Limited. I was told that SPT would be receiving one by the end of June that was unspoken for, so I put down a deposit. When I requested a receipt & a detailed price breakdown, I got photo of a handwritten paper that listed a base price MSRP, a $4K charge for 3M, & a total price. I asked for more information regarding the 3M. The sales associate (Z) said “every brand new vehicle [comes] with 3m [it’s] mandatory”. On May 23, I asked Z for the delivery date & VIN of the vehicle. He said that he would send me the information. The next week, I reminded him & he replied that the vehicle would be delivered June 16, but that he didn’t know the VIN. I again asked about the 3M. This time he said “it is already on the vehicle as it was a cancelled ordered so they ship it with it on”. On Jun 6, I again asked for the VIN. Z said it would be provided right away. Jun 20, I finally received confirmation of delivery & the VIN in an email (from V, the finance manager). Upon looking up the VIN with Toyota Canada, I note that the 3M is not already on the vehicle; more importantly, however, the vehicle is not a hybrid. I texted Z, who said that it was. The next morning, Z texted me “they screwed up”. Shortly afterwards, he informed me that the cancelled order that SPT allocated to us was a full gas model. The next day, my husband & I met with Z & R (a sales manager) in person. He offered to sell us the gas model & allow us to do a straight trade in when a hybrid was available. However, feeling wary of the dealership at this point, we declined. We asked to buy one of the 3 RAV4 Hb Ltds we had seen on the lot, but were told that they were for customers who had been waiting for 8 months, even though we had been waiting for 12. We agreed to continue to wait, with the caveat that we will be offered some sort of discount as compensation. Z assured us that we will be able to get a new vehicle within 2-3 months. On Jun 24, I received an email from my bank stating that I had received a refund from SPT. I contacted Z & V, asking why we were refunded. 3 days later, someone from the finance department called me, & I confirmed that I wished to keep my deposit with them. Shortly afterwards, I received another email from my bank stating that SPT re-charged my credit card. On Sep 5, I tried to email Z, but it failed. I called SPT, & was told that Z no longer works there, so they will forward my message to R. On Oct 31, we contacted SPT for an update & were told that we had not been on the wait list since June. I called R, who promised to get back to me in 15 min. The next morning, I emailed him a reminder, Hours later, I got a call from B (another sales manager), offering to sell me a used RAV4 Prime, supposedly returned because the customer didn’t like the colour (extremely unlikely given how hard Primes are to come by; either there was something wrong with it, or SPT is aiding & abetting people committing fraud by purchasing an EV, claiming the rebate, & then trading the vehicle in for an ICE vehicle). We met the next day, & he offered $1K off of the asking price (which was ~$5K more than Toyota Canada’s pricing for a new model). I said that was not enough compensation, especially since we wouldn’t be able to claim the GOC EV rebate, & asked to negotiate, but he repeatedly refused. We asked for our deposit back, & he tried to claim that they had refunded it, despite me having the statement from my bank! More
Excitement of buying 1st new car from a dealer with no prior knowledge has turned into a stress. Feels like misguided. A Simple request to cancel extra packages (within business 2 hours) turned down and l prior knowledge has turned into a stress. Feels like misguided. I have had a horrible experience with this dealership with not disclosing the details of my purchase properly. I purchased a 2023 Toyota Tacoma Limited nightshade edition. The initial sales agent (Jay with not disclosing the details of my purchase properly. I purchased a 2023 Toyota Tacoma Limited nightshade edition. The initial sales agent (Jay) did a terrible job at describing the features of the truck and was being disingenuous about the product and the pricing. The finance manager (Veer) failed to disclose the itemized bill. He didn't not explain the cost breakdown of the warranties at all. They refused to give me the signed copy of the contract until delivery of the truck. Instead of identifying and rectifying the situation, they continue to disrespect me. There was no apology or remorse for the way I was treated. The General manager, finance director, the finance manager and the sale manager were very unprofessional and dismissive of my concerns when I raised those concerns. If I could I would give them a zero star. I hope to never deal with this place again. More
AVOID this Toyota dealership at all costs. Inexperienced sales adviser- name Chaddi. Poor communication from sales, financing, and Manager. 2 months in after our $120K truck purchase, it is Inexperienced sales adviser- name Chaddi. Poor communication from sales, financing, and Manager. 2 months in after our $120K truck purchase, it is already needing servicing as we had found out the fuel tank assembly, and plunger had already been replaced PRIOR to delivery to us. What does this mean…it’s not the original parts- the numbers don’t match the original truck numbers now AND we are having issues with it. Think this was disclosed to us on purchase??? NOPE this was disclosed to us by Gateway Toyota who FIXED the issue. When Sherwood park manager Dominic was informed…..he again did nothing. More
