Great experience, start to finish. One sunny day in April, I went in to look at a Sonic. It’s a good little car, but let’s be honest here. When a potential customer rolls up and asks to One sunny day in April, I went in to look at a Sonic. It’s a good little car, but let’s be honest here. When a potential customer rolls up and asks to see the second cheapest thing someone sells? Well there are lots of businesses and sales people that might not treat that customer as one that perhaps might be coveting something a little more expensive, or in the case of cars, with more room for a profit margin. Then when that same customer is a bit difficult in the way that they know exactly what they want, but they also dont know what they want, well... that’s a combination that I think I’ve annoyed more than a few car salesmen with. Dorian was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable from beginning to end though. It’s nice when a salesman knows the product well enough that they can answer any inane question you can blurt out. Even better when he does so in a way that subtly lets you know that he doesn’t just sit around and memorize brochures. He is actually passionate about what he sells, and cars in general. And he does all of this in a friendly, genuine way. His demeanor was this way throughout the entire experience. And I tested this man’s patience, I’m sure. I wanted a car they didn’t have. In fact, nobody in Saskatchewan had one. I wanted to row my own gears. Automatics just aren’t as fun. But the manual transmission is going extinct you see. And I didn’t want just five forward gears. I had to have 6. (I mean what’s the point of a subcompact if you don’t have that extra overdrive gear, right?). Also, I wanted whooshing noises. Every car’s better with a choocher on it, even if it’s just a little itty bitty cute little turbo like they put on the 1.4L engine. What else did I want? Uhhhh maybe not black or red? Or silver? That’s when he got some backup. Griffin, the finance guy, hunted me down a red one in Calgary. Then, when I said, “Thanks for looking, but I don’t like that color. Can you look some more?” Starting to see how I’m not exactly the ideal customer yet? He gladly kept looking, and found me a winner that he had to arrange to truck in from Manitoba. But dealers can’t just give away cars. They have to make a trade, so not only does this poor finance guy have to hunt me down not one, but two unicorns, he has to talk to who knows how many people and arrange a trade. Then figure out how to get the cars moved. To and from a small town in southeast Manitoba. I’m sure I wasn’t the worst customer they have dealt with this year. Well I wasn’t yet, anyways. Meanwhile, yours truly has the audacity to ask to borrow a Sonic, stating his intentions to drive it to pick up a friend, and then to a Honda dealer, to look at a Fit. This wonderful dealership took this insult, this direct spit in the face with style. “Yeah! You should check out the Fit.” Dorian told me. “Those are good cars. Pay attention to the cool thing they did with the speedometer, and the way the dash looks.” Yes. That is what he told me. Who lets you take off in a brand new car by yourself with a smile, a wave, and words of praise for the car that you could be very well off to choose over your own? Then when that idiot customer has an at-fault accident in that same car on that sale trip? Yes. Yes, that happened. And when I got back, hanging my head in shame, everyone was just as friendly and polite as they were the day I walked in. Color me impressed. I picked that Sonic up yesterday, a full two weeks before they expected the car to be here. Since Griffin was away this week, I dealt with Larry in finance. There’s a lot to do when you buy a new car, and usually it can be tedious. More so when you take over for someone’s else’s deal that involved starting in April, adjusting the prices for different incentives, losing those incentives because it’s now May, then finding new ones, adding in some accessories, then taking them away and adding others in, patiently explaining that a deposit isn’t the same as a down payment. I told you. Pain. In. The. Ask me if it phased Larry? Nope. We got the numbers straightened out in a hurry. Then he asked me if I wanted extended warranty. Now, the last time I bought a new car from some other dealer I won’t mention, the finance just guy kinda snuck it in there. Some (probably lots) will try very hard to get you to buy the extended warranty. Larry here? No tactics at all. Just double checked that I was sure, and then we moved on. I’ve had a lot of experiences buying cars, and helping family and friends buy cars, and this is hands down the best car buying experience I’ve had. Everyone was great to deal with, throughout the entire process. They were respectful of what I wanted, and didn’t try to upsell me on something I didn’t want. They did everything in their power to get me the best possible deal they could, and make sure I left happy. I 100% recommend that you go see them. More

I was originally leaning towards another truck at a different dealer but the service i got from Scott made it an easy experience that i was not getting elsewhere. It was clear the team at Sherwood wanted my business and they made my buying experience the easiest i have ever had, they were also able to add my accessories in the timeline i wanted which was helpful. I was treated like a person at Sherwood instead of a sale like at the other dealers i was looking at, they will be my first stop next time around. Thanks Scott, Kyle, and the rest of the team at Sherwood Chevrolet! More
