UPDATED Where to even start. I posted the below review after having numerous issues with my vehicle and with trust issues with the service department. Since then I was contacte I posted the below review after having numerous issues with my vehicle and with trust issues with the service department. Since then I was contacted by the GM and Owasco did absolutely everything in their power to restore my faith in this dealership. My car was fixed at a discounted rate (as it needed a lot of work) and after picking my car up I showed up to find that they had completely detailed my car top to bottom and even went as far as buying me a bottle of wine. Unfortunate circumstances lead me to being stranded in another city only to find that my water pump needed to be replaced again (I had replaced it in August of 2017) warranty on this part from Volskwagen Canada was either 20,000 kms or 1 year and I was at 26,000 kms and 7 months. Bob and the team at Owasco did everything in their power to help me out. They got Volswagen Canada to pay for the part itself and even covered a portion of the labour for me. What would have cost me close to $2,000.00 now only cost me around $500.00. All in all my experience that I outlined below is completely changed and I will for certain be back for all of my service needs. Their effort and level of customer service was beyond anything I had expected by writing the below review. I don't even know where to start with this review.... I guess I will start from the purchase of my vehicle: I purchased my Tiguan used in 2014. Took it out for a test drive with the sales rep and absolutely loved it. Was told it had Bluetooth and wireless connection to play my music. After I purchased the vehicle we took the car out again and my sales rep offered to help me set up my Bluetooth... turns out... it didn't have Bluetooth or wireless connection to play music. The dealership did install an aftermarket to make up for the mistake, but it is the cheapest quality they could have found, I don't even use it. I am not the type of person to complain and realized that this was an honest mistake as the sales rep I dealt with was new at the time, and I did not feel the need to get her in trouble so I let it go. I have brought my car to the dealership for every service it needed and starting last year things have taken a plunge for the worse. I brought my car in for a normal oil change in the summer of 2016 and as always, received a phone call that my vehicle needed "extra service" (in particular my spark plugs). So I went ahead and paid to have my spark plugs done, and away I went with no second thought. I brought my vehicle in again for my regular oil change in January (not even six months later) and received that same phone call with a list of things that I needed to have serviced (spark plugs included). So, I said "how is that possible? I just had them done not even six months ago" I was quickly apologised to and told me my car was ready for pickup. Red flag. This past summer of 2017 my car started overheating. I was stranded on the side of the DVP and had CAA tow my car to Canadian Tire as it was the closet mechanic shop to where I work. They assessed it and told me it was my electric water pump and that it would be $1700.00 to replace. I called all over the place getting quotes for this thinking the dealership would most likely be the highest bid, so they were my last phone call. To my surprise Owasco only quoted me $700.00 plus HST, so of course I booked the service appointment and brought it in. Then I received that dreaded phone call.... that it would be $1200.00 plus HST. I explained that I had been quoted only $700.00 and that's why I brought it there, the lady on the phone told me to hold while she spoke with the service manager. Not even 2 minutes passed and they dropped it down without a question (now I am thinking I still got ripped off with that being such an easy decision). My car was fixed, I had no further issues and I was just glad that I wasn't paying the $1700.00 that I was first quoted. Fast forward to two weeks ago when I brought my car in for my regular oil change. I awaited that dreaded phone call that always comes.. and it did. Keep in mind, I have had no issues with my vehicle, no engine lights on, no lagging or ANYTHING to indicate I had any sort of problem going on. But there was that phone call, telling me that I was leaking oil and that it would certainly damage my engine if it was not fixed right away and that it would be ....$1200.00 plus HST to fix. I spoke with the service manager and explained everything I have listed above and said that I do not trust the pricing of Owasco, I do not trust that my vehicle actually needs extra service (please reference point on spark plugs) and that I felt I was being taken advantage of as most dealerships do with woman. I was told that he would take one hour of labour off of the price of the service saving me a whopping $100.00. I said no thank you and was told my car was ready for pickup (still having to pay a diagnostic fee of $100.00). Now remember when I said I had no indication that anything was wrong on my car? No engine light, nothing? Well the second I turned my vehicle on and drove away...... my engine light came on. My trust in Owasco Volkswagen is so far beyond compromised that I actually think that was done by the dealership to prove me wrong for refusing service. I will never bring my vehicle back to Owasco Volkswagen, nor will I buy another Volkswagen for fear of being ripped off further. This dealership at one point had the best customer service rating for dealerships in my area. This could not be further from the truth. I feel as though I have been ripped out of thousands of dollars for the simple fact of not knowing a lot about cars, but now I do my research, thoroughly. More
Horrible service Between all my family members we have purchased 4 vehicles here. I went in for service on my car ($700 worth) and when I went to pick up the car the f Between all my family members we have purchased 4 vehicles here. I went in for service on my car ($700 worth) and when I went to pick up the car the front desk lady was so rude to me!! My car wasn't out front ready she told me to go to the back where the garage is and get it myself. When I finally found my car it was blocked in and had to search for someone to help me get it out, by this time I was late for work. Then I got into my car only to fine it filthy. The car was so dirty that my hands were black from holding the steering wheel. When I went back into the front desk to tell them how dirty it was the lady said "well there's paper towels over there go clean it yourself". I was so shocked I just left and didn't say anything. I will NEVER GO BACK to do service or purchase a vehicle again. More
Customer service rating I have dealt with Owasco for 30+ years and I've witnessed a family generational change in management. The excellent level of service that I've experie I have dealt with Owasco for 30+ years and I've witnessed a family generational change in management. The excellent level of service that I've experienced over this time window has been continuous and unwavering. I've lost count of the number of vehicles (maybe 20) that I've purchased from this dealership and am considered to be extended family. I've recommended several friends and acquaintances to this dealership who have thanked me for the recommendation. My recent vehicle (2wks old) which was a result of the emission scandal (no fault of the dealer) was delivered to me in pristine condition, my emission claim was originally handled by Margot who did her best to help me with my claim when the process became a bit frustrating along with the owner Bob Verwey jr. The vehicle was handed over to me by Emily who walked me thru some of the unfamiliar features and functions that the new vehicle offered. Both my wife and me are happy with the new vehicle that we've acquired. I felt betrayed by Volkswagen and the only reason that we're the owner of another VW is the service and treatment that we've received from the family owners of Owasco. More

I deeply regretted purchasing my vehicle from Owasco Whitby I purchased a VW 2017 on July 4th. My purchase wasn't planned, I was forced to buy a new vehicle due to Emissions Scandal diesel models. The Canadian I purchased a VW 2017 on July 4th. My purchase wasn't planned, I was forced to buy a new vehicle due to Emissions Scandal diesel models. The Canadian government reached the settlement that the owners of VW diesel model prohibited to drive the vehicle. The money that was offered put me to a new financial burden. I made the decision to go through the trade in program, because I couldn't buy a different vehicle for the money that was proposed. On Tuesday, July 4th I bought a new VW and on Sunday, July 9th discovered a damage indentation on the rooftop around the antenna. I went to see my sales person, Emily, to show her the damage. Emily called Eric, who was covering for the manager by the name Dominic. I was accused of damaging the car and bring it to dealership to fix it from their budget. I became very upset after Eric's accusations. Eric changed his mind and stated that he is going to look through the videos and call me back within 2 weeks with the result. Two weeks passed and I didn't received the promised call. On Wednesday morning, July 26th, I called Emily and left a message to call me back. Salesperson Emily didn't return a call also. Two days later I called the manager by the name Dominic ( sales manager) and received call back before closing hours. Through out my conversation with him I was accused again that car was damaged by me and I felt a great disrespect towards me to the point of discrimination. I asked him to disclose pre- delivery inspection documents-was refused in it. I told Dominic that I didn't receive my ownership on the day of purchase, that I got it in the mail a week later, and was accused that I last my ownership and it's not Owasco's concern. I looked for my ownership everywhere. Week later my ownership came by mail from the dealership. I recorded the video when I received the ownership. At the end of dialogue, Dominic stated that he is going to call me back. He did call on Saturday just before closing time to let me know that Owasco was not going to fix the damage to my brand new VW. Dominic stated that car was damaged by the garage door; the car has not been in the garage. I asked him to give me his last name and was told to look on the website for his last name. I felt like he was obnoxiously laughing at my simple request and exhibits his lack of customer service skills. Dominic hung up on me; a distinct sign that he does not appreciate my business ( I spent within 6 years $56000 at this dealership). I went to meet him in person. When I arrived to dealership I was very upset and was greeted by Dominic with his not appropriate smile to the very upsetting situation.I confronted him why he disrespected me and discriminated in my rights to disclose the history of the vehicle, why the ownership wasn't given to me on the day of the purchase (putting me a risk with the law), why management and sales person didn't return my calls (lack of professionalism)? The more upset and frustrated I became, the bigger the obnoxious smile was showing on Dominic's face. Dominic stated that Owasco not going to fix the damage again and ordered me to leave the property. Conclusion: 1) I was disrespected and discriminated in my rights by refusing to disclose the history of the vehicle. The video copy has not been review with me and for all I know there is possible transit damage that Owasco is hiding from me. 2) I was accused of damaging my car and in its present pristine condition is unreasonable; it is more likely that the antennae was bumped by the transportation company. A review of other incidents would confirm this likelyhood. 3) I didn't received calls, when I was promised which questions the professionalism of your staff. 4) I didn't receive a proper review/hand-off inspection of my vehicle and I am claim that the damage was present at delivery. 5) Without satisfaction, I will pursue this incident further in arbitration. 6) I didn't receive the car ownership slip or did I sign the ownership on the day of purchase. In the eyes of the low I didn't take possession of the car. 7) also I discovered that the VIN on my ownership did not match VIN on my insurance slip. The VIN number was given to me by a salesperson to call my insurance. 8) please bring a stepladder to check the rooftop of your vehicle, when you are buying a new car. PS. I deeply regretted to have business with Owasco Whitby. Owasco dealership discriminated a human being in their simple rights. Lilia Stojadinovich. More

Buyer Bewere Extremely dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism and communication. My wife and I had sourced a vehicle at Owasco on their website that fit Extremely dissatisfied with the lack of professionalism and communication. My wife and I had sourced a vehicle at Owasco on their website that fit exactly what we were looking for. I called in and spoke with Emily about it and set up a time to go and look at it. My wife and I had our own finacing arranged for this vehicle and we agreed on a price for it. I was told several times that they priced the car too low and I was getting an amazing deal on the car. After looking at comparables that was right, it was a good price. Owasco had purchased the vehicle from VW finance and was being transfered from Halifax so we could not see the vehicle for about a week whilw we waiting for it to arrive. Emilu had Kelly in the finance office look to see if Owasco could get us a better deal on the finance but came up with nothing, and we were completely fine with that. Kelly was absolutely fantastic to deal with. So once the car arrives at Owasco my wife and I came to take a look at it and were very happy with the car. We then let our financier know that we will take the car. Up until this point everything was great and Emily had been a huge help. Here's where things broke down..... After the vehicle was transfered to our financier they then received a bill for the car that was $1000.00 plus hst more then the price that we agreed on. I called Owasco right after I found this out and was told that Emily was in training, I spoke with Eric and he told me thats the price and that I got the car at a fantasic price. He had no explanation and was rude. I had hand written notes that my wifeand I made when talking with Emily about the car and our financier had notes from her conversations with Emily. Unfortunately we did not get anything in writing from Emily. This all happened on Monday July 17th 2017 and it is now Monday July 31st and I have made several attempts to contact Emily and she has not returned any messages. My wife and I are extremely disappointed and feel like we have been taken advantage of. We had been made to feel that they were very happy to sell us this car and wanted us as their customer, Emily told us that she would help us out with the VW accessories we were looking at buying and be there for us if there was any issues. Now we feel the complete opposite and would never conduct any business with the Owasco brand at this point. Buyer bewere! More
Sub-par experience for my dream car I found my dream car- an almost-new volkswagen beetle. We found it on a Saturday, and signed the paperwork before we left the dealership that day. Som I found my dream car- an almost-new volkswagen beetle. We found it on a Saturday, and signed the paperwork before we left the dealership that day. Someone was using it as a daily commuting vehicle and I was told they wouldn't be driving it after the paperwork was signed however the paperwork said the vehicle had about 1,000 kilometres less than what it had when I picked it up. I was told conflicting information as to when it would be ready -long story short I didn't receive the car until the following Monday (six business days, nine actual days). I was told the oil would be changed just before I picked it up, but according to the car's computer it was changed more than 5,000 kilometers ago. I had to go back to the dealership on the Tuesday after I finished work because they hadn't switched the licence over to me and had ordered the incorrect floor mats. The vehicle began showing service reminders (to take it for service in 30 days) within the first week of owning it. Overall this experience was much more stressful than I thought it should be. I reached out to the General Manager of the dealership and although he got back to me very quickly to say this experience should be an enjoyable one instead of stressful, nothing else was done to improve the quality of service I received. I felt as though I was an inconvenience and my concerns were invalid. The General Manager did not greet me when I picked up the car nor follow up with me after I picked up the car despite my complaints with him. I had a few helpful people along the way, however I would advise to stay away from this dealership. I was very sad as this was a very big deal to me - I have never owned a newer car and I've wanted this vehicle in particular for more than 20 years. Very disappointed. EDIT: After a few months I received a personal call from Bob Verwey Jr. who apologized for my experience. He has offered to cover my first service through this dealership to try and make up for my experience purchasing this car. Although I'm still unsure as to whether or not I will return, I appreciate the effort in trying to make amends. More
