I brought my 2017 Kia Sorento in for a service in July 2024, because I noticed a burning oil smell and wanted it addressed, as we maintain our vehicles regularly. I was told the transfer case was leaking oil, along with the oil pan, and a number of axel seals needed to be replaced. I gave the go-ahead to make the necessary repairs, which included the leak and some axel seal repairs. When I went to pick up my vehicle 30 hours later, I was told the charge would be double what I was originally quoted. At no time, did anyone try to contact me in advance to approve the new amount. When I finally got the vehicle returned to me, I could feel something was very wrong as it pulled extremely right when trying to brake. After two blocks, I turned around and went back to the dealership. I was told it needed a wheel alignment, which I’m assuming was actually done at that time of repair as the subframe and front axels were removed as part of the transfer case reseal. I was in for another service in September and nothing was highlighted for repair or concern. Feb 2025, during a recent trip up north, the vehicle suddenly started to make an awful grinding noise from the front-end area when accelerating. I managed to limp it about 4 blocks to Gustafson’s Kia and had to leave it there to find out what was wrong. Gustafson’s called the next morning to tell me that the problem was my transfer case and that it had completely cracked in half, possibly due to low oil and/or overheating, also during the inspection they noted my lower horns were not working. While I knew they were quiet, I was unaware that they were malfunctioning. As I had just had the transfer case worked on in July, I then called Kelowna Kia to get some information. After no return call, I was able to get connected with the Service Manager, Scott, after multiple attempts on my part. After I explained the situation, he noted that the repair was older than 6 months (LESS THAN 7) and there was nothing Kia Kelowna would do to help, noting the vehicle was not at their location. I asked if there was any KIA After Warranty Assistance available and he said that Gustafson's Kia would need to enquire and that there was nothing that Kia Kelowna would do. So, when I said “So, I am out of luck?” and he said “Yup, looks that way.” This is not the customer service I was expecting from a dealership I had been going to for over a decade. I then had to arrange a flight back to Kelowna, three days later than I planned to return home. I received a phone call on March 14 from Gustafson’s that the vehicle was repaired and ready for pickup. Over $8000. Another flight. And a month without my vehicle. On top of the original "repair". Over 11,000. We’ve emailed Kelowna Kia, zero response. We emailed Kia Canada, who responded, but only to say that it’s all up to Kelowna Kia. After 13 years combined (my wife and I both drive a Kia) of being a loyal customer, I suddenly find myself not very trusting of the service we have been receiving by the KOT Auto Groups Kia Kelowna dealership. Because I needed a vehicle before the school year began, I was under time pressure and placed my trust in the dealership to provide a professional and transparent buying experience. From the outset, the sales process felt rushed. I did not negotiate pricing or request additional incentives, aside from inquiring about winter tires. That request was dismissed with laughter, and I was told to come back closer to winter for a “great deal.” Wanting to move forward, I accepted this and completed the purchase. After completing the paperwork and proceeding to insurance, I was informed that the vehicle would not be cleaned prior to delivery due to staffing shortages in detailing. I offered to return later in the day or another time to pick up the vehicle, but instead was told to take it as-is and schedule a future appointment for cleaning. The vehicle was visibly dirty, with a significant amount of dog hair throughout the interior. This was extremely disappointing, as this was meant to be an exciting purchase, and instead it felt careless and rushed. Shortly after taking the vehicle home, a family member noticed that the tires were worn down to the wear bars. This was both concerning and frustrating. At the time, I tried to remain practical and assumed I would be purchasing winter tires soon anyway, so I deferred addressing the issue. When I later contacted the dealership regarding the promised winter tire deal, I was surprised to be told by the parts department that the vehicle had already been traded in with winter tires included. This information was never disclosed to me during the sale. At that point, my frustration escalated, as it raised serious concerns about transparency. After contacting management, I was eventually provided with a “free” set of all-season tires; however, I was still required to pay $100 for installation. Given the condition of the tires at delivery, this felt less like a goodwill gesture and more like correcting an issue that should never have existed. When I brought the vehicle in for the tire installation, I again requested that the vehicle be cleaned, as it had never been detailed at delivery. Once again, I was told that staffing shortages prevented this from being done. I left the dealership for the second time without the vehicle ever being properly cleaned. Ultimately, I sourced my winter tires elsewhere and received a better deal than what I was originally promised, despite the fact that winter tires should have been included with the vehicle from the beginning. Months later, I am still driving a vehicle I truly wanted to love. Unfortunately, the excitement and confidence in my purchase were overshadowed by a rushed sale, poor communication, lack of transparency, and repeated unfulfilled commitments. My disappointment lies not with the vehicle itself, but with the overall experience, which has left me seriously considering trading it in solely due to how this purchase was handled. More
Kia service department is extremely disappointing! We bought a brand new 2025 Kia Sorrento. It has its engine light coming on and off but the service “can’t” do anything about. They can’t do diagnostics when it’s off but would not look at our vehicle when it’s on because they can’t accommodate us!!! And then when I booked an oil change service almost one month in advance it took them 5 hour! No service vehicle or a shuttle offered so I was stuck in the middle of nowhere in their waiting room! Something that typically doesn’t take more than 45 minutes took almost 5 hours!!! Their receptionist only offered a shuttle after 3 hours when I inquired about the whole situation. I understand that they might have staffing issues but their communication within the staff and with their clients is inefficient and disrespectful and demeaning. Please take warning this dealership does not help you in any way. This started a year ago when I called about booking an engine flush. I was informed that at my kms that is was not needed yet. Here I am with a dead transmission and they will not warranty over minor cosmetic damage and debris in the rad to why it burnt out. 3 time on the phone and I even took it in and asked for transmission flush they did not do. Yet Mario feels this is my fault. So they cooked up a plan to ha e insurance cover it. The adjuster knew right away that it wasn't from the accident. So thank to keliwna Kia I am paying higher insurance premiums on a car dead in my driveway. Thank you kelowna kia for nothing. You Don't deserve the 1 star More

I originally submitted a request for a quote on a Sorento while I was in India for vacation. I was pleasantly surprised when Lyndon sent me an email the next day! I explained to him that I wouldn't be back until August and he proactively sent me video walkthroughs of 7 seaters I was interested in. I also mentioned I found a Mazda CX9 on Kia's site and he said he would have it ready for when I arrived back to Canada. A couple days after arriving to Canada I went down to meet Lyndon to test drive the vehicles. I explained to him that we are expectating another child and the features we needed to keep the kids from driving us crazy on road trips to Victoria. Lyndon went through every detail and even came down to our house to go through the safety features to my wife as well. One of the highlights is when we got pulled over by the RCMP! 🤣 After deciding on the Mazda CX9 I met up with JR from the finance team who was quick, efficient, and friendly. He was able to get the loan approved and me out the door with the car same day! Pros: 🌟 Top notch and friendly service from sales people 🌟 Amazing communication throughout all staff, I never had to explain the situation more than once 🌟 One stop shop, trade in, finance, and insurance! 🌟 Prize wall!! Cons: 🤔 I couldn't think of anything Overall I believe Lyndon provides the BEST service, the BEST pricing and selection for vehicles, and the FRIENDLIEST team around. Absolute xxxx of a dealership forgot to put oil drain plug back in vehicle on a simple oil change and tried to take zero responsibility. My son purchased a car at the Kelowna Kia dealership yesterday. We were very pleased with how Charles was able to get our son a really good loan with interest that was lowered than we could find.
