I sold my Mazda so I wouldn't have to deal with their incompetent and dishonest service department. I had a problem with the engine light staying on and they just kept throwing parts at it until they so incompetent and dishonest service department. High pessure - Dishonest sale tactics Example of these tactics- Contract price on demo vehicle higher than sticker price. Trade in price also lowered on contract. When I said I refused Example of these tactics- Contract price on demo vehicle higher than sticker price. Trade in price also lowered on contract. When I said I refused to sign for undercoating on a used managers vehicle, I was told it was mandatory and offered leather wipes for a consolation prize in a condescending manner. We were forced to wait 4 hours with my therapy dog , as they said they were too busy, but there was only one other customer . They took license plate off our car and got us to change insurance before signing the contract. The manager kept explaining he could not sell us the car for the amount of sticker price or less as he would lose money. There was no answer from him when we asked why he priced it that way then. I had researched the CX 9 and wanted to purchase a Mazda. I will be servicing my vehicle elsewhere as I am unable to even enter that dealership again. More
Beware of upselling when getting your vehicle serviced Initially I was very impressed with the staff at Coastline Mazda. I had purchased a new 2016 CX5 from them as they gave me the best price and had my vehicle serviced there for close to 3 years even though I live down island. But I found they look at loyal customers as mark's and will recommend unnecessary servicing to squeeze more money from you. It happened twice to me and as I trusted them I went along with their recommendations. It was only later when I had a chance to look at the maintainance schedule in the manual that found it was not necessary. They have lost my trust and respect and I will no longer deal with them. Do not accept their maintainance recommendations until you have had the time to chk the manual. More
Poor service at the service centre. Went to the Coastline Mazda service centre to get wiper blades and was told they were out of stock and that they would contact me when they were avail Went to the Coastline Mazda service centre to get wiper blades and was told they were out of stock and that they would contact me when they were available. Never heard from Coastline Mazda. During the summer, I enquired about a roof rack for my vehicle and the service centre staff said there were no Mazda parts available and would call me later about other OEM/3rd party roof racks that fit my vehicle. Never heard back from Coastline Mazda. Eventually had a Thule roof rack purchased and installed at the local Cap It store and was told that Coastline Mazda purchased the same roof rack for their customers. It appears that Coastline Mazda doesn't value my business. Unfortunately, based on these poor customer service experiences, a decision made for our corporate Mazda vehicles to be serviced at Courtenay Mazda, that valued our business with excellent service. Old school negotiating - Avoid any Steve Marshall dealership Gave Coastline Mazda a try as the local dealership, but they were over $4000 what I could get down island. I told the salesman I didn't want to waste Gave Coastline Mazda a try as the local dealership, but they were over $4000 what I could get down island. I told the salesman I didn't want to waste his or my time and asked for their best price and showed the prices of the same vehicle in Courtenay and Nanaimo. The salesman and manager proceeded to do exactly what I asked them not to do - delaying tactics, bad guy/good guy approach, "I need to check with my manager" charade, using the 4 square sheet, etc. After all this, they had the gall to offer me $200 off their original price. I have had similar experiences at other Steve Marshall dealerships in Campbell River - Nissan, Mazda, Ford, and Honda. It's unfortunate as I would have preferred to buy locally. I felt badly for the salesman and place direct responsibility on the dealer principal and manager for creating this exploitative and unethical work culture. More
