House of cars paid off my loan at the time, and then transferred all of that amount onto the new car. It wasn’t until recently that I found out how negative really worked. What is worse is that I am making payments on the old car and this new one... while they make money from selling my 2014 fiesta car to another customer. Be careful about trading in your vehicle. More

Friendly with a great team I walked into HOC looking for something new. I had bad experiences in the past buying from used car dealerships. The typical hassle of “ take this car I walked into HOC looking for something new. I had bad experiences in the past buying from used car dealerships. The typical hassle of “ take this car “ even if it’s not what I wanted. I met Kevin and told him what I was looking for, I qualified for their credit rebuilding program and they wrote everything down in writing of the deal. Kevin and I went for a couple test drives and he was very friendly and didn’t push any car on me that I wouldn’t be pleased with. He got me into a 2013 bmw 328i which was exactly what I wanted. They gave me the car proof and the full mechanical check and the car came back clean. I have the chance to go back after 6 months in which they will buy the car back for what’s owned on it and sell it back to me with a better interest rate. While the car was getting the mechanical work done, Kevin took me to register the car and as well we went for lunch and just chatted about life. It was nice that it was all about the car and Kevin really showed that he wanted me to be happy with the choice I was making. I highly recommend these great people. It was the easiest car buying experience I ever had. I’ve had my car for a few days now and I absolutely love driving it. Thanks a lot Kevin and the team at House Of Cars Macload. More
Avoid at all costs. As new arrivals to Canada we decided to purchase a vehicle to set myself up for my future in Canada. From the first impression through to sale, and As new arrivals to Canada we decided to purchase a vehicle to set myself up for my future in Canada. From the first impression through to sale, and after care it has been appalling. Michael Zhu was the dealer we were first in contact with and I have never met a more incompetent and unprofessional dealer in my life. Our first impression was a danger to our safety as he drove us to HOC Airdrie on the highway at speeds at times of 140kph in a 110kph zone whilst using his phone for directions. (First Red Flag). When we arrived in Airdrie HOC we test drove a Ford Escape and decided that we would proceed with the vehicle. It met all requirements we were looking for in a vehicle and whilst our initial impression was poor we just put it down to a lead footed dealer. We then drove the Ford Escape to HOC Calgary to proceed with the purchase of the vehicle only to be told that all paperwork for the vehicle is back in Airdrie and we would have to turn around and go get it as in their words "it can't be emailed or faxed" another hour and a half wasted. Upon coming back to Calgary at this point hours wasted and an appointment missed we made agreement to purchase the car on the condition that any outstanding issues on Car Proof would be resolved and upon collection of the vehicle all requirements were met. (Windscreen replaced, any issues resolved etc..) We received a phonecall from Michael Zhu to say that the car was ready for collection. The windscreen had not been replaced and now the air-conditioning unit was making loud noises that made the vehicle utterly irritable to drive. We voiced our utmost displeasure but Michael assured us this will be fixed except we were now needing make the phonecalls to the glass company and find time to have it replaced. For the next week I was without a vehicle or if I was I was taking it to the glass dealership to have the windscreen replaced with multiple days of my mothers short trip to Calgary Canada wasted trying to have issues resolved. In the next week the engine warning light came on. I took the vehicle back to HOC Calgary where it was the Catalytic Conventer that needed replacing with the parts needing ordering. I was again without a vehicle with no offer from HOC to provide a replacement vehicle or hire car during the weeks I was without a car. Upon receiving the car soon thereafter the engine warning light came on again this time with the oil warning light. I called Michael Zhu at HOC explaining my extreme frustration with the situation and need for issues to be resolved. My mother and I had to extend our rental of a hire car as we were without the vehicle purchased and had no other means of getting around Calgary. After multiple phonecalls HOC agreed to partially reimburse us for the costs of the hire car. I was told to take it to Universal Ford where they have an account to have diagnostics done. Other side of Calgary from me. Upon arriving there the light was off (Cycled through) and was incorrectly told to wait till the engine warning light came on again for diagnostics. After this I had to call the AMA twice as the car was not holding charge and needed to be jumpstarted further inconveniencing me. The engine warning light and oil did come on again. In speaking with Michael Zhu I explained that I have no faith in HOC to rectify the situation and in his own words "said that HOC use incompetent third party mechanics" so then why would I allow my car to be sent back there again? I pleaded with HOC to let me use Northstar Ford a dealership closer to home and work for diagnostics. They reluctantly agreed after multiple emails to Michael, and Nadeem Malik owner of HOC. Northstar Ford confirmed a multitude of issues. Alternator was faulty overheating and draining power from the battery this in turn had damaged the battery. Rear High Brake Light did not meet road standards as it was inoperable and needed full-replacement. Engine Coolant Valves were faulty needing replacement. Over the next few weeks I dealt with Nadeem Malik Owner of HOC and have never dealt with a more stereotypical used car dealer. He saw us as the problem as stated in emails and that our issues with the vehicle were inconveniencing him and he did not want to throw money at the vehicle even though it was understood from Day 1 they had contractually not met their obligations to us. After a very unpleasant phonecall trying to state that Northstar Ford have found all these issues and he was in receipt of the diagnostic information I refrained from any further phonecalls to him with everything to be put in writing. I had the vehicle serviced at NorthStar Ford and it couldn't have been a better experience. Everyone from service to sales was a pleasure to deal with. Ms C.Walker of service was happy to be CC'd into emails from Nadeem Malik so she could understand the magnitude of the situation and what was agreed upon. Even from the emails alone she could ascertain that HOC were not meeting obligations. Upon having agreed to have the final repairs done at the 11th hour Nadeem Malik sent me a Release of Liability Form and stated that he would not provide funds for having the car repaired unless I signed it. This was not the original agreement. I sent him back an amended copy with words to the affect of "this was dropped on me with no prior notice and you are withholding funds/what was agreed upon unless I sign this under duress". He immediately sent back a very threatening email with him stating the the process will take longer with AMVIC involvement and that I am making this more difficult for them. I can't drive an unreliable vehicle and one that does not meet road regulations so begrudgingly signed the Release. The vehicle had everything completed by Northstar Ford but he would not pay for battery as he did not view it as damaged. A few days later on the drive back from a weekend in Banff the car broke down in a blizzard in the middle of the highway creating further traffic congestion and safety concerns. I had the vehicle towed to Northstar Ford and the very next day made arrangements to trade in the vehicle for a new car. Upon talking to everyone a Northstar they agreed that my experience had been appalling and that HOC has a seriously bad reputation amongst the dealership community of Calgary. They advised me to file a formal complaint which I was in the process of doing already as with the costs of changing over vehicles I was now $10,000 out of pocket with the added stress of breaking down in the middle of a busy highway. I will be filing a formal complaint with AMVIC and highly recommend that people do not make the misfortunate of buying from HOC a dealership with a long history of poor customer service as I was soon to find out.
