My 2007 Honda Element developed random misfires on multiple cylinders. I replaced the spark plugs and coil packs to no avail. Decided to take to GP Honda as I wanted someone who would have experience multiple cylinders. I replaced the spark plugs and coil packs to no avail. Decided to take to GP Honda as I wanted someone who would have experience on working on my motor and was willing to pay premium price for their expertise. They diagnosed the problem as being a stretched timing chain that was throwing my timing out and so it would need to be replaced. After waiting a month and a half for parts(Supply Chain Issues) I received a text on Thursday Feb.16, 2023 that parts had arrived and they would be starting on it tomorrow. No call on Friday, Saturday, (Monday was Holiday), Tuesday or Wednesday. On Thursday Feb 23, 2023 I received a message that they are still waiting on parts. I missed their call on Friday and so on Saturday I called in to be told that my car is now back together but that I now have a bent valve. I met with B.B. the Service Manager on Monday to discuss. I asked if they had put a bore scope down the cylinder. They had not. When I asked why not he had no answer. I asked to see my old parts and was told they had been thrown out. Agreed to remove head to confirm valve problem. Then I suggested that first I wanted a bore scope to go down first to see if anything was visible. Low and behold cylinder 4' s exhaust valve has a large chip missing. As my Honda Element is an interference fit engine, the first thing they should have checked was that the valves where okay due to the trimming being off. The simple bore scope test would have done that. As a customer satisfaction discount of 15% it dropped my bill to $1900.00 for new timing chain and associated parts on an engine that is now headed to the scrape pile. Open opening my hood I noticed that none of the parts they had worked on had been cleaned either. That is what professional shops do. So disappointed and when I voiced my displease I was told that if I was given any more discount that they would be losing money. I asked about the $1900 that I was losing and got a shrug of the shoulders. So unprofessional. I will never return. More
