I had went in once and one of the front desk girls was extremely rude. I ended up having my check oil light come on a few times and I was trying to make it till I was able to get to Edmonton. But I called Gary Moe and spoke with the service manager and explained everything, and they have been excellent to deal with!! I have had claims entered for my protection plan and a rattle looked at in my door and it has been smooth sailing thank goodness, so far so good :) More

Every time the car goes in its perfectly fine then the b.s. starts as soon as the car is taken in for a service. Advice; buy your car elsewhere, I really like the car but the service is not up to par. More

Asking any questions or getting oil changes here have been awful!!! The staff are rude, they take FOREVER and my car was FILTHY when they had finished with it!!! I also recently had the sun roof stop working, of course on a day we were scheduled to have a severe thunderstorm and you think they would call back... Nope, bunch of jerks. I love VW vehicles but I will never buy another one while living in RD, I will not deal with Gary Moe's circus!!! I will be taking my money ELSEWHERE!!! More
Disgraceful I can not even begin to explain how bad this place is.. I bought my car in July 2013, First of all they had given me the wrong price for my car, the r I can not even begin to explain how bad this place is.. I bought my car in July 2013, First of all they had given me the wrong price for my car, the real price was a couple thousand more.. first red flag. I bought a protection package from them which is supposed to cover scratches, windshield repair etc.. we put a claim through last week for a couple scratches on the back bumper. Lisa told me she would call me monday or tuesday to see if it was accepted or not. Today is friday and i called her. When she finally called me back 2 hours later she said only the rock chips are covered which basically cost near to nothing to repair. They told me the scratches are not long enough.. which really why should that matter? and the one is not through the paint. So now the protection package that i bought is pretty much useless to me and lets just say it wasnt cheap. not to mention how rude lisa was when she called me back telling me they are not covered. I would never recommend this place to anyone, not one happy review on this page and there are so many reasons why. Not impressed, hope this helps someone else More
I had a VW Golf - I had my car serviced at the VW dealership in Vernon,BC. They replaced the water pump and timing belt as recommended as I was at 100,000 km. A couple of weeks after I returned to Re dealership in Vernon,BC. They replaced the water pump and timing belt as recommended as I was at 100,000 km. A couple of weeks after I returned to Red Deer my MIL light came on. I took it in to Gary Moe to be scanned. After a very long time the service rep came out and went over the diagnostic with me - I supposedly needed a new water pump! I was told that the fins had broken and that it wasn't pumping properly and oh by the way we might as well change your timing belt at the same time as you are over 100,000 km. To the tune of > $2000 in repairs! I felt sick! I said I had just this done! It was then, in hindsight that I realized that the mechanic had been standing there listening the whole time! that the mechanic walked away from the service desk. I said I would have to get back to them. I called the dealership in Vernon and they asked me to get another diagnostic performed, which I did - They did not come up with the same diagnosis! Theirs said that my thermostat needed replacing. Which I had done to the tune of < $200!!! I feel/felt completely ripped off by them! Had I not had the recommended maintenance done just prior I more than likely would have gone ahead with their quoted repairs as it seemed feasible! More
Well....where do I start. I bought this car (2010 tdi highline jetta 6 speed manual) in Edmonton Alberta at southgate vw, highly recommend. Just recently moved to red deer having lived in northern bc and highline jetta 6 speed manual) in Edmonton Alberta at southgate vw, highly recommend. Just recently moved to red deer having lived in northern bc and looking forward to having a local vw shop. Went there for a simple issue when turning a corner at slow speeds and they have the car for 1 day to diagnose. Get a phone call the next day and they tell me I need a new transmission, I asked how they came to that conclusion and they said they put a stethoscope on it and it was making noises. I say ok and they proceed to order the new tranny. Down without a car for 1 week. They put it in and all seems well. Get the car back and drive for less than 100kms and mysteriously the serpentine belt breaks in half and takes out the tensioner. Got towed back to dealer and they say that happens sometimes, ironically just after it was in their shop. They have car for another 2 days to replace. Mmmmmm 2 days to put on a belt WOW. OH and sheared off the bolt on tensioner in my block while they removed it. Previously while car was in getting a new tranny I mentioned the right rear door wasn't unlocking so they pulled it apart and fixed it. While driving to Calgary after that I notice in my door mirror on passenger side the body lines are out. I pull into Calgary and check door and the outside door skin is coming off....yet again just after their shop, it was missing a bolt completely that holds it on. I brought it in and they said it was not there problem or fault. They needed the car for a entire day to install a bolt. Got car back and when they had it they had only the valet key. I go to my car to start that night and start car with my key fob and then proceed to try and lock my car from the outside like I always do and the valet key spins 360 degrees multiple times and will not lock or unlock. I phone them the next day and tell them and they say it was not there fault, I say it was because they only key they had was the valet key, I get a moment of silence and he says that if they broke it his mechanics would have told him. He proceeds to tell me that that they are booking 4 days away. I said don't worry I will bring somewhere else. So drove another 1000kms or so and notice my car miss firing at idle, being I just filled up at a new gas station and the attendant insisted that he had to fill it up I said ok and didn't pay attention if he put the yellow hose in the tank...so I am thinking now that there is gas in my tank and that is the reason for the miss firing and lack of power, I freak and park it and call roadside and got towed to dealer. I strictly tell them do not start under any circumstances and to sample the tank and phone me with the results. They phone me 1.5 days later and say they took it for a 20 min test drive and performed a diagnostic and didn't find anything. I ask, did you sample the tank and they said NO. I FREAKED and said why the xxxx did you start the car after I told you there might have been gas in a Diesel engine. That say OH RIGHT that was stupid wasn't it and that I owed them 140$ for the time and diagnostic that I did not ask or approve. And that is where I am at this point. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS DEALER AND ADVISE VW CANADA TO PULL THERE BRAND FROM GARY MOE. YEESH More
Caught him (service manager)is lies about service being done...No one ever phones you back unless it is to their benefit. Some of my accessories were installed by the salesman who clearly did not know wha done...No one ever phones you back unless it is to their benefit. Some of my accessories were installed by the salesman who clearly did not know what he was doing and caused a huge issue trying to resolve.I finally gave up and removed the accessory. I have waited for parts that should never need replacing on a brand new vehicle for weeks , either because it wasn't the issue they thought it was, or it was the wrong part. I have waited for 6 weeks and counting. Another thing I noticed while always sitting in the show room waiting for the shop to practice mechanics on my car. So far, me car has always come out of the shop neither repaired or more excuses. The sales department personal are all wandering around doing nothing. It is clearly a fact that they do not work as a team. One says one thing, and another something else. I had witnessed several time customers arriving and tracking down sales personal to inquire about their products.I watched one customer throw his hands up looking for help and walked out having not been served. It took me 7 hours to buy my vehicle after I decided I wanted it. They really do not know their product. In my personal opinion Gary Moe bought a car dealership because of the access of funds and a investment. He clearly did not hire the correct personal to manage his business.I notice more then 2 employes are having personal issues and it is clearly affecting service. Unless they clean house in all departments, customers will receive the blunt of their incompetence. More
Towed my car in for evaluation and repair. After 1 week time I contacted them and they indicated I would required a new engine or they could get me a salvage engine with 150 thousand km week time I contacted them and they indicated I would required a new engine or they could get me a salvage engine with 150 thousand km's and install for 6500.xx dollars. I was not prepared for this so I called another Volkswagen repair shop in Red Deer. After explaining to him the symptom's of my diesel Jetta he recomended towing it over to his shop for evaluation, based on his interpretation of what the problem was he indicated could do the repair for 4200.xx dollars. So I had my car towed to his shop. While the car was in route the oil pan fell off on hwy #2 and was ruined so had to get a new one. The last person to touch the car was the Gary Moe mechanic. They would not offer any compensation for this as well they scarred a crank bearing during their inspection that had to be replaced again they would not offer any compensation. To make a long story short the repair was done 2000.xx dollars cheaper than Gary Moe in four days time. It took Gary Moe 1 week just to evaluate the problem. I can deal with incompetence up to a certain point but when it cost you time and money I draw the line. More
My wife and I love our 2003 Jetta and have always had it serviced at the dealer we bought it from - Progress Motors. Since being taken over by Gary Moe, we have noticed a change in attitude and customer se serviced at the dealer we bought it from - Progress Motors. Since being taken over by Gary Moe, we have noticed a change in attitude and customer service. We have also since discovered that none of the original Progress employees are are staff. The overall atmosphere by the service desk employees is one of arrogance and we have found that not only have we had to take our vehicle back after servicing to have the same repair re-done, we have also had to wait for days longer than told for parts to come in. In the case of waiting for parts, they have indicated that they would phone us when they are in, and yet in each case we have had to be the ones to make the phone call to them only to find that they have either had them for a while and forgot to phone us, or have forgotten to order the parts and then have made us wait again. The last time was such an expensive and frustrating visit that we have decided not to take our vehicle to them again for servicing. The only employee that is friendly and helpful appears to be the customer service shuttle driver. We will buy another VW, but most likely from a Calgary or Edmonton dealer and will either make the trips out of town to get it serviced or else go to someone like Mikasa Performance in town. Too bad...we always had such good things to say about our experiences at Progress and now are unable to do so with the change of staff/ownership. More
We've gotten a few warranty things fixed on a certified pre-owned vehicle we purchased from Gary Moe Volkswagen. The quality of work is generally good, we don't have any complaints about that. They are f pre-owned vehicle we purchased from Gary Moe Volkswagen. The quality of work is generally good, we don't have any complaints about that. They are friendly but not as friendly as some of the other dealerships in town. Customer service, however, is absolutely horrible. They are always booking at least a week and a half to two weeks in advance, even for minor maintenance like oil changes. I can get my Civic in at the Honda just down the road for major work within 2 days but we can't get our Jetta in for an oil change for 2 weeks. Our Jetta was out of commission because of simple wiring problems, they ordered in a part under warranty and told us they would be able to get the car in right away to fix it. They never called when the part arrived (they claimed they did, but I guess my phone only shows calls and voice mails from everybody except Gary Moe) so when we called a couple days later now we could only get in a week later, then a week later we find out they received the wrong part, so we have to wait for another part and another week to get it in. Absolutely unacceptable, they either need to expand ASAP or at least get people who know what they're doing in the shop. I've talked to other people with even worse horror stories about this dealership while sitting in their showroom. With the great deals on right now for new VW Jettas I was ready to buy one, I had everything lined up financially but no more. It's bad enough having to put up with this with one car, I can't imagine having two from them. I'll go back to the Honda dealership next time. Only because of their customer service I will never buy from any Gary Moe dealership and I have scared more than a few buyers away from purchasing from them because of it. More
