Craig Chippett and Rod Tucker from Gander Toyota was by far the best to deal with. They returned my phone calls and got a quote on my trade-in in a timely manner. The payment and financing options were clearly explained. They allowed me to bother them a few times in taking the same vehicle out to test drive, so that I could make the best decision for me. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this dealership and these guys to anyone in the market for a new vehicle.. I have heard nothing but good things about this dealership and these two men are for sure part of the reason why that is so. More

The Service department has always been very helpful and welcoming - thanks, Dennis, Jeremy, Matt, & Paul! :D I am a loyal Toyota customer - and they are part of the reason why! Joe Penney (dealer principal) and his team stand behind their quality products and support worthwhile community causes. I am very satisfied with my current Rav 4, as well as my experience at this dealership. I would highly recommend Gander Toyota to anyone looking for a quality vehicle and a dealer that stands behind its product. Come be a part of this "Toyota Family!" - maybe I'll even see you there when I'm buying my next vehicle! :) More
With the cold weather taking it's toll on batteries here in NL this winter, it came as no surprise that I would have to replace my 12 year old battery. I called Gander Toyota at 11:11 and by 12:05 I w here in NL this winter, it came as no surprise that I would have to replace my 12 year old battery. On my most recent visit to this dealership I was Charged for work that was either not done at all or corners were cut. The vehicle was brought in for an annual service? About the only thing I can be sure o for work that was either not done at all or corners were cut. The vehicle was brought in for an annual service? About the only thing I can be sure of what was done was the oil change. I can only assume the proper grade and toyota oil was used. There are several things that are supposed to be checked and the customer is provided with an inspection report. The report lists work which is done but based on my experiences it is not always done and when it done, it is not always done properly. Just one example, tire pressure recorded on Inspection report showed 32psi in all four tires. 1 tire actually had 30psi. 2 tires had 26psi and the other had 24psi. Tread wear was supposed to have been checked on tires. If a check was done it was only visual. Brakes are supposed to be checked. Inspection report leaves impression wear will be measured but it is just eyeballed. There will even be items marked as checked on your vehicle that are not on your vehicle. Such as a/c outlet temp on a vehicle that has no A/C. Power steering fluid checked on the vehicle that has no power steering fluid because it is electric power steering. Emailed the service manager about this and other related issues. Basically, his response was, the dealership did everything that it was supposed to do and did nothing wrong. Also, when you buy a vehicle from this dealership, review your bill carefully. You may get charged for things you shouldn't. I know I did. It was only $100. Something you're not going to notice on a $20,000 invoice, unless you check it. Each time I have had an oil change done here I have checked the dipstick after. On more than one occasion after I checked, the dipstick showed it was overfilled. The vehicle was taken back in and the excess oil was removed. I used to own a toyota with a standard transmission. I had the transmission fluid changed and was charged for a litre more than the listed capacity for the vehicle. When I questioned the charge for the transmission fluid I was told it was correct. I got out the owners manual and showed them the capacity listed in the manual. At first they tried to tell me the manual was wrong. The look on their faces was priceless. When that same vehicle had 96,000km on it, I made an appointment to have the timing belt changed. They didn't have the belt and had to order one in. A couple of weeks later the belt was installed. After I got home from the dealership I looked over the invoice, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was charged for a Napa timing belt, not a GENUINE TOYOTA part. Look around the dealership and all you see are posters about how they only use toyota parts. I called the dealership and they told me they would take the Napa belt off and put the toyota belt on. The following week I took the car in to the dealer again. Did they actually change the belt. I cannot be sure of that. I don't know for sure if they did or didn't. I could go on and list more things but I am sure by this time you understand the point I am making. That point is unless you check to see for yourself that the work was done and done as it should have been, the only way to know for sure is check it yourself. Based on my experience you cannot trust this dealer to give the service you are paying for. A lot of the service you are being charged for you could easily do yourself. It is not very difficult. Manufactures and dealers try to make you think it is. They do that because they want to make money. More
