Early this year, my in-laws were looking for a mini van, and they went there to check out the cars and get a few quotes. they finally made up their mind on one so they asked me to go back there with them to make sure they didn't miss anything. So we went back there with the quote they provided and says we would like to take a look at van one more time. After went for a test drive, sales man printed another quote with $2K more, we asked him where this cost come from, he says this is a different model and higher trim level (makes sense), so we said we don't need this model, and we need the one on the quote you provided before. He went to his manager and came back telling us this is a better deal and we are actually saving more money on this van than the others ( I told him we are also spending more money which we don't want). What we told him is we will take the van if we can agree on the price on the quote, he went back to the manager again, came back with higher cost (ON THE SAME VAN HE QUOTED BEFORE) and says this is the cost. We had to ask where the extra money come from and he looked nervous, (young sales guy with not much experience) and kept going back to his manager. Finally, the manager came back with him and tried to get the deal done but we can't let it happen until we know why the van costs more now. I had to say the manager knows how to lead you to the wrong direction and not talking about the extra cost at all. Finally a guy came down from 2nd floor said he's the owner and he want to sell the van to us and asking us what they need to do to make this happen. I told him I need to know why the same van costs more now, and he says that's the price they sell at now. I then said to him: you guys just don't want to tell the truth to your customer, do you? This question triggered him somehow and all he said is: Did you say I'm a liar, I have to ask you guys to leave now" I can tell he is so angry while he said that, on the way out, I told him: I'm glad you learned something new today". We ended up buy the van from Winnipeg Dodge with lower cost on the exact same model a week later without playing any games on the price. More
